  1. Do you have to be a master chef to have an opinion on whether your food is good? Your comment is utterly nonsensical. You're saying that if you're not a model kit designer, you're not entitled to have an opinion on model kits. That's just dumb.
  2. ^^^^^^^ Exactly. After the "bunny" crap they pulled around the MiG-21 criticism, and then their Bf109 debacle, I lost any semblance of respect I ever had for Vladimir Sulc. They put out some great products, but his hubris turns me off.
  3. Different intakes for starters. Major cockpit differences (WSO side mainly). There are probably others, but that's off the top of the head.
  4. Care to elucidate? Compared to what? If you picked enough nits, there were probably more than three. The problem is, with any such project, at some point you have to stick a fork in it and call it done. You could go on forever trying to nail every permutation and combination of parts ever fitted to a Bf109. Based on???
  5. Today is the 74th anniversary of the Doolittle raid. How can we forget?
  6. This is a good place to unplug from the rest of life :)
  7. I'm still trying to wrap my brain around an idiot Su-27 pilot doing a barrel roll around an RC-135. That's quite possibly the stupidest maneuver I've heard of in a very long time, especially when it's just to show how big your (or your political leader's) balls are.
  8. Pit Road and GWH have a close relationship, so I'd say it's a 99.9% probability it's the GWH kit. Don't know about specifics. GWH has a habit of putting their corrected parts in all subsequent issues of the kits they've made corrections on, so I see no reason to think this one would have the original inaccurate parts.
  9. A -200LR is a ten minute conversion. Remove 10 frames forward of the wing and 9 aft, nix the tail bumper, nix the extra strut on the main gear, and you're there.
  10. Were the AIM-9's ever carried operationally by the Hun? I don't recall ever seeing a photo of one armed with them. Their job was moving mud, not mixing it up with the bad guys.
  11. Patently not true. I've flown lots of kinds of airplanes, and lots of them had colored bulbs and clear lenses. I can't give you part numbers, but there are plenty of examples. Here's a 727 for starters...
  12. None of the photos you linked is visible, btw...
  13. Get the two kits and see how "simple" that is. The engineering between the two is completely different. I'm actually thinking that it may be easier to remove the fuselage extension from the F.8, cut out the upper cockpit section and replace the cockpit, upper fuselage, canopy, and tail from the Tamiya kit. The Tamiya fuselage is about 1mm deeper at the tail joint line than Airfix, so there will have to be a bit of fudgitude to make it work. I sincerely hope Airfix will do an F.4. Somehow to me it's a more elegant looking design than the F.8 (or any of the hideously ugly two seaters). Tim
  14. Just a guess, but I'd say most likely dark grey paint :) (I'll be leaving now..)
  15. I think they've pretty much said in so many words they're not doing any other Meteors. Or that's my understanding anyway.
  16. Just got my Airfix Meteor F.8 today. Also have a Tamiya F.3, and wondering what the easiest route to get to a Mk.4 is. Anyone else given it thought?
  17. Me too (two)! An HU-25A and a CC-117 ECM bird.
  18. I predict that once the AMK kits come out, there will not be a single F-14 scheme from any squadron at any time period that won't be covered by some decal manufacturer or other.
  19. My experience was that when the dog was young and healthy, the premiums were very low and very affordable. But I never used it. Once she got to be about 6-7 years old, they started jacking the price up, and imposing larger and larger co-pays. I ended up cancelling it. VPI Pet Insurance. I honestly don't recommend it.
  20. What sad news! Jorge was unfailingly generous with his assistance on my many questions about the FAA. He will be missed :(
  21. That's not true of all hybrids. I'm on my third Honda hybrid (Civic). I agree - the Prius is and always has been ugly. The Honda hybrid system is much more simple and elegant. Toyota's has planetary gears and all kinds of other crap to break. Honda simply replaced the flywheel with a combined motor/generator. The gasoline engine is always turning, never dead weight. It uses the electric motor to provide extra torque when needed, and otherwise it's being used to recharge the battery. And it always acts as a flywheel. The system simply allows a much smaller gasoline engine than would
  22. I think it's great of Eduard to fix the 109. Not sure where you're getting "disgust" from.
  23. The question was, can you build an earlier F-15 out of what's in the box. The answer is "yes, you can". If you find that somehow condescending, I'm sorry, but you said "The short answer is no" and that is not correct.
