  1. The flap actuator on the right wing. Next step will be the rebuild of the lost detail and mating of the top and lower wing halves. Besides, I fell in love with a big scale Dassault delta from Italeri, on which I started some refinig and detailing of the fuselage. Without doubt, the F-15 is my current main project, but will work on the delta from time to time for relaxing.
  2. Part of the Environmental Control System (ECS), which is explained in Jake Melampy´s excellent book, the No. 1 reference for my model. I just vrealized, that I have lost a detail in this area, which I have to reconstruct. Again some more odd additional work!
  3. Details on top fuselage, like heat exchangers, etc. are shown here. The perforated metal plates are also painted added by some signs of wear and tear. More of this will follow after the painting stages of the model.
  4. Due to real life issues I couldn´t get time to post more pictures earlier. My apologies for this! The build progress wasn´t quick either. Shown here is the aileron actuator of the left wing. A couple of small details will be added later to avoid damage or loss.
  5. Most of the pipework is done with soldering iron of vaious diameters 0,2mm, 0,3mm and 0,5mm.
  6. Those small details are a lot of work. They deserve a lot of time, accordingly progress will be rather slow during the next weeks. Here a pair of photographs of the small detail construction.
  7. Hataka brings a Brazilian Air Force set including Mirage 2000 colors
  8. Gabor, thank you very much for your nice review and reference reommendations. I am glad, that ICM started to do 1:48 jets and hopefully, the MIG-25 is the begin of a series and they will continue with post WW2 aircraft. I don´t giving up my dream of an accurate MIG-23BN in 1:48.
  9. Stay tuned for the small details, like actuators, pipework, etc. for the panels. I calculate with 4-5 weeks for this. Sometimes, I tend to underestimate the amount of research and work of these subjects, so it can take longer. However, it will be a very interesting and diversified job.
  10. The inner sides of the avionic bay doors got some colour treatment during the christmas days to provide some relief to the builder during the drilling madness.
  11. As shown on the pictures in Jeke Melampy´s excellent reference book, in some cases the corners of the rails are a bit rounded. I simulated this with the new AK Interactive AK104 putty, which was put with a toothpick into the corners. This stuff works perfectly for this matter. It is a rather slow drying stuff and will be sanded later.
  12. In these access panels, the plumbing of the heat exchanger will be shown. At least, the perforated rails are done.
  13. Shown here is the panel of the aileron and flap activator by the left and right side. All the interiors have to be constructed during the next couple of weeks.
  14. Today I finished the perforated rails for my open panels project. It was a very tiresome issue with over 550 holes had to be drilled. I am glad to have it almost finished. Some small details and a bit putty and sanding still is necessary to come as close to the reality as possible.
  15. Hello In a couple of days, the new modelling project the48ers.com will be launched. http://www.the48ers.com/ We will see, how they are going to surprise us. It is alsready known, that the will release resin upgrade sets, PE sets and decals for post-WW2 aircraft. I am looking forward, which subjects they will treat! Greetings Christian
  16. All I can say that adhesion is excellent! After pulling off Tamiya kabuki tape from the Hataka painted surface, there is no sign of paint lifting. The F-15 wing was not primed before, only sanded with 1000 grid before painting. It is common sense, that water based acrylics do not adhere well on bare plastic, but in my trials Hataka has provided no negative effect here.
  17. Tomorrow, I will post an update after I did may be the most tedious work of the whole built during the last days. In the meantime, you may find this quite interesting
  18. I am very happy with the result of my trial. I will order more sets from Hataka for my future modelling projects. They probably will evolve to my first choice of modelling paints in the future. But I have a couple of wishes and recommendations to the manufacturer Hataka: 1.) Please develop an own high performance thinner for airbrushing purposes. Mr. CLT proves, that excellent results with the Hataka paints are possible, but not really with Hataka´s currently available own thinner. 2.) Recently, a lot of French Armée de´l Air and Aeronavale subjects have been released, but we
  19. Even free hand airbrushed camouflage schemes in 1:144, or even 1:350 are possible with the combination of Hataka paints and Mr. CLT.
  20. This grossly oversized view shows how nicely WW2 Luftwaffe mottling colours can be airbrushed even with smaller scales.
  21. Now, I would like to spray some free hand patterns of a darker Hataka colour tone for a simulation of a camouflage scheme. Colour of choice was RAL7012 Basaltgrau and I shaked the bottle a couple of minutes, so that the paint is completely mixed. This procedure also is recommended by the producer, as with mixing it with the original thinner. However, due to the limited performance of this combination for spraying fine lines, I tried many other thinners I have by hand, like AK, Ammo of MiG, Lifecolors, Elita Lifecolours, GSI Creos, etc.. Best of these was Ammo of MIG. The Hataka paint performed
  22. Now it was time to load my H&S Infinity with the aboved mentioned mixture to cover a 1:48 F-15 wing part of an Academy kit with an uniform coverage of RAL7001 Silbergrau. During the painting work I felt some mixed emotions. The coverage was quite well, the finish was dead flat but unfortunately, the surface got a somewhat grainy texture, which I don´t like really. After a drying time of 30 minutes, I polished the surface slightly with my fingers and the surface now became more and more smooth. During the painting process, I already tried to spray some fine lines in order to achieve to pain
