  1. Matt, would suggest you invest in some 'Gator's' grip, good stuff. No where near as bad as C.A. Alistair at A2Z carries it, going to Huddersfield? or Milton Keynes? Paul
  2. Hi Albert, short answer, Yes! Apply with a household brush i.e. paintbrush between 1/2" - 2". Don't get too much on the brush, it WILL 'run'. (See my previous post) Paul
  3. Hi all, Paul, no need to leave it that long, this stuff is acrylic floor polish, you can walk on it within the hour, so unless you 'dunk it in a bucket'...........! Find the best way to apply is with nothing more technical than a household paint brush, 2" wide, BUT decant it first, pig trying to get the brush down the neck!! Irving, bite the bullet! As well as being a replacement for Sol/Set it makes a great substitute for decal adhesive. Give it a go with Hobbyboss decals, these are made from meteorite! or Airfix, similar. It works as advertised. Tried this on the Airfix Javelin,
  4. Hi Matt, WEM is a good choice for enamels, much bigger range than even the old Humbrol Authentics. If you want to go 'Green' with acrylics you could do worse than try Vallejo, but also get yourself a bottle of inhibitor, these paints dry like crazy! On the subject of Humbrol, i am lead to believe that thay are still 'outsourced' and still coming from the far east. Proving Q.C. is a pig over more than a couple of hundred miles. Happy painting! Paul
  5. Damn Harold, you're FAST!! The 1/32 beast has only just been released this side of the pond. Course i'm interested, seen, sorry, brought the quality seat and cockpit for the F-86. :) Paul
  6. Hi Silverfox, just rewards! They pass this way but once, their like and numbers never to be seen again. Paul
  7. Hey, nice one Matt, thanks for the tip. Always ready to save a bit of brass! Paul
  8. Hi all, having spoken with Trevor Snowdon (Mr. Airfix) at SMW '08 was told that the ship carrying the 1/48 TSR 2 was due to dock in the U.K. 24 December 08. The delay being due to a few problems that had to be put right first. 1/48 Cranberry PR9 due for release in the U.K. 2 - 3 weeks after Telford, it was. Trevor also said the next 1/48 Cranberry would be the B2 first quarter of '09 along with the 1/72 B2 & B(i)8. Vixen i was lead to believe is 'limited' but 1/48th. Talking with another 'Airfix' employee, he stated that there was NO intention of issuing a Valiant in either 1/72 or 1
  9. Hi all, for what it's worth, brush painted an F4U in Tamiya matt midnight blue, finish was like chalk, 3 brushed (1" or 2" household as i remember!) coats of Future / Klear = high gloss, probably too gloss! I'm happy and as no one (J.M.Z. or rivet counter) ecorted me from Telford at the '08 SMW, guess everyone else was happy too, or possibly didn't give a damn! Paul

    WEM Colours?

Hi Matt, WEM, think original Humbrol Authentics (camo tins) only more of 'em! Great paint and colour range, now..................would you introduce me to your contact?!!! Paul
  11. Thank you Trev, your offer greatfully received Yes i DO know where you are, at the end of the runway You really should worry, Toon army? Ann's a Smoggie supporter. Paul
  12. Ah well reception lied, called 'em yesterday lunchtime. Paul
  13. Hi Jens, just the cynic in me!!!! Paul
  14. Hi all, a plea (i know i'm a right little pleader! Trev shut up at the back!!) As any I.P.M.S. U.K. members will know there is a new S.I.G. called "U.K.C.A.F." United Kingdom and Commonwealth Armed Forces, i know a mouthful! (Thanks H.M. Government for NOT allowing the use of the R.A.F. title) First show the new S.I.G. will be 'rolled out' at is the Nats or SMW if you prefer. We need your models, on loan, for the duration of the show. Don't want your newly complete, super duper scruggs wonder plane, but anything you don't intend to show. All offers gratefully received, BUT, limited
  15. Hi GW, International centre in Telford has Wi-Fi facilities. For me i don't intend to beam world wide, so it's all yours! Paul

    Spitfire

Hi Allen, suggest you drop John at Aeroclub an e-mail, asking if he has any in stock, or, can give you an approximate date for the next run, if he intends to do more. Hope this helps, Paul
  18. Sadly Humbrol lost the plot after the fire some years ago, thats why the authentics range was pulled. All was reasonably well until the production went out to tender. Winner was, AFAIK 'Windsor & Newton'. Whoever it was then pushed production out to China. Sorry guys, very long range quality control DOESN'T work! So upshot is everybody and their brother is now into hobby paint production and Humbrol is the loser. Regards, Paul
  19. Hi all, another good source of enamel paints is White Ensign Models or WEM. Larger range ;) than the old Humbrol authentics and superb covering power. ;) Paul
  20. Hi Supertom, aerosol acrylic automotive spray, or Tamiya primer white. You could try Mercedes white, but that is now TOTALLY water based, though zero threat! ;) Paul
  21. Hi Kinky Afro, yes, the Jeyes product will work. Have sold commercial floor polish and stripper, though a 5 litre bottle is over kill! (8 & a bit pints) Malt vinegar works well to strip Future back, just have your models smelling like a chippy There are two types of Windowlene in the U.K. The cream applied with a duster, and the liquid in a spray bottle, this contains ammonia, though i've tried it, no joy! So must see if i can find any of the Jeyes, should work well, any idea on stockists? Paul
  22. Hi, have used Vallejo, good covering power, easy to mix/tint, my use has been with figures. Downside is they dry VERY fast on your pallete. Quick solution to this is to use a proprietory drying retarder. The one i brought is Winsor & Newton Acrylic Retarder £3.60 ($7.00?) this can also be used with any Acrylics. Gunze as i understand AREN'T stopping production, just that no wholesaler in the U.S. will put their hand way down in their pocket and import a container load, one huge amount of paint! Though if you must have them, i'll give a name check to Lucky Model, who do post/mail o
  23. Chox, wonder if the company you're thinking of is mini-meca? of Spain?? Unfortunatly don't know of stockists. Paul
  24. Hi Lee, just to give you a "heads up" on the Lanc. Get yourself a copy of this months 'Scale Aircraft Modelling' Vol 30 No.3 May 2008. Tells you amongst other thing how to correct the lack of dihedral probs. Paul
  25. Hi Heff3, get a bottle of Klear/Future, coat model, let dry, put on your decals, let dry, re-coat. Alternatively, coat model then apply decals while Future/Klear still wet, then when everything has dried re-cote. Hope this helps, Paul
