  1. SShhhhhhh, STILL ignored by Eagle drivers, thank heaven. With 25 Sqn. having shut up shop things would be very boring if it wasn't for 'the boys from da 'heath' No Navy drivers about? GO airforce.
  2. As a info tid-bit, North Korean aircraft did not? carry upper wing markings, still don't. (UNLESS someone has photographic proof!!!!) ;) Paul
  3. Hi TuveB, can't help with availability, but can ask the leader of the IPMS Swedish sig, he's a member of my club. How fast do you want the info? Regards, Paul
  4. Hi Mikester, thanks for posting. Not a Lanc 'expert' but couple of things i will say about the description of the Airfix kit, about the 'difference' between the Mk I and the Mk III. Only differences i'm aware of are:- Mk I, fitted with Rolls Royce built Merlins some (most?) with 'needle' bladed props. Mk III, fitted with Packard built Merlins some had 'needle' blades others had paddle blades. As for the colour (color) side views be aware the one show as a 'G.R. 3' has a Martin turret, Twin .50s replacing the .303s and moved 6' forward (in 1/72 = 1") in the mid-upper po

    Help!

Hi all, heading says it all. Tried at SMW, (with no success) to speak with the gent responsible for the twin stick "Fanta Can" and the Grey IIIO on the above stand, both saturday and sunday. Hoping that someone knows the gent and can put us in touch. Many thanks in advance, Paul

Hi all, just wondering, does anyone know of ANY decal manufacturer who does the ARDU tail stripes and logo's in 1/48? Just got to do a fanta can Mirage III. :P in advance, Phoenix P.S. or am i
  10. Hi Al, i'll be first! i'm up for one. What Sqns. are the gull grey and white A-7Es from? Inquiring minds and all that! Phoenix
  11. Hi Jon, thanks for posting, do you get to "Da heath" often? Get the guys up for a "day out at the sea side" frequently (Saltburn/Whitby) Just ask, can they NOT come up off the moors, confuses the heck out of me :o Last sighting, 4 ship fly by, in great conditions earlier this week. No, no photos, just happy if they leave my T.V. ariel attached to the stack! On second thoughts, they can have me ariel, just keep doing the fly-bys :o Phoenix
  12. was secondary to the Lancaster??!!!!! :o Sorry... couldn't resist! Back to topic, we all have our favoritites, but don't you think (like clasic cars/automobiles) that older aircraft have that indefinable quality that just makes them so much better than the "designed by computer, built by robots, driven by ****** (insert what takes your fancy!)" Battle bowler and flak jacket donned and in me hole waiting!!!!!! :D phoenix
  13. Hi all, if what i've heard is right, the problem is with the overall dimentions. Great fun when you see in the box for the first time, you think you've got 3 main wheels! The fix is to grind/sand or otherwise remove the tyre, the hub is then the correct size, if you want the anti shimmy type leave it a little larger, and file in the groove, not strictly accurate, but at the end of the day it's your model, and you can do what you want! Phoenix
  14. Hi Dave, only way i know is to give any 'rubber tyre' a good rub over with a fine grit 'wet 'n' dry'. Have a look at your car tyres, tread areas get scuffed, but the side walls get a 'brownish' bloom, so to represent this, the only thing i can think of is a weathering powder? Unless anyone knows better?! Phoenix
  15. Damn, and i thought it was the 'tinnie' locker!! Phoenix
  16. Hi Maveryck, if it's available your side of the pond, something that is not as nasty as oven cleaner, Fairy Power Spray. 500Ml spray bottle, available from your supermarket? Strips OLD! enamels, fresh enamel and tamiya acrylic. Good overall spray, leave to stand for 30 minutes, scrub with an old tooth brush, rinse off under the tap, job done! Did have to recoat the Revell yellow! (go figure) enamel. :) Phoenix
  17. Hi adecore, a variable speed transformer is what you need, it will take the speeds down from turbine like to managable, then you can do what you intended, and yes, i did the same! Hope this helps, Regards, Phoenix ;)
  18. Hi Peter, yes, Airfix make one, though the Matchbox is the newer (better?) kit. Also available is the Tamiya kit in 1/48 also Smer also 1/48 (1/50?) Hope this is of help. phoenix
  19. Hi Baz, let me be the first to say welcome. Re your Aztek, never used one, but plenty of the chaps at the club own/use them. I know for a limited period all azteks sold in the U.K. had a lifetime guarantee, so unless someone else comes up with something, my thoughts are you have a duff one! So take it back to the retailer, as it is their problem, and lucky you, it's only 9 months old. If you are in the U.S. don't know the law equating to the U.K. sale of goods act, so you will have to deal with the retailer/importer/manufacturer. Hope this is of some help, regards, phoenix
  20. Hi all, just a thought, as no one else has mentioned it. Remember when you stretch sprue it's shape doesn't alter, so if the piece is hexagonal or round thats the shape you finish up with. Not a problem if you model in 1/72, but it could prove interesting if you increase it to 1/32! As an aside, got to agree with the candle over the lighter, far safer. Phoenix
  21. Hi Liam, 'Sugar Blues' Canadian built Mk.X, fitted with paddle bladed props, Martin mid-upper turret, which is 6' forward of the standard position, and 4 x .303 FN tail turret. Thanks for your article in S.A.M. Andy, was very useful. Phoenix
  22. Hi John, many thanks for the info; think it'll be in the best R.A.F. tradition, mix it myself! Regards, Paul
  23. Thanks Dave, you're full of good news! Phoenix
  24. Hi all, just a thought, we all know the trials and tribulations of Airfix, which look now to be a thing of the past. Before the crash i was shown a 'trial' pot of WATER based humbrol, (local L.M.S.) this will wash out in water even if it has gone hard, (shame on you if this has happened! ) Now i know the rumour mill is grinding, so it's a wait and see situation, but this is something that may do us all a favour. Before anyone jumps on the band waggon, i know that Q/C went out the window when production went to China, but the rumour mill says that the paint contract has been re-all
  25. Hi all, many thanks for all of your input, edgar has already suggested BS108, this according to Dick Ward. Peebeep, thanks for the link to the BS chart, always take 'Royal' as something close to 'True Blue' er, would appear not!! Looks close to midnight. As you can see, the other link you posted has two pictures, one an artist drawn profile, the other is real, what a difference. Think you can understand my confusion, and thats just from looking at the real thing at Elvington last summer! Hi Graham, why indeed! <_< If i get a firm colour match i will post it, then again hav
