  1. I built this about 5 or so years ago. My first airbrush job. Other than the rotor head and engine compartment, everything else was straight from the box. I used artist oils and crushed pastel chalk for dirt and grim.
  2. Thanks gentlemen. I agree southwestforests. It’s nice that they give you an option with the figures. There’s been quite a few times that I’ve had figures come with the model but I’ve left them out. Painting figures is not my strong point. I would either pose the models in a state of maintenance or preflight checks. My objective with the F-4 was to pose it cruising down the taxiway. I’m glad I left the canopies open because of all the detail in the cockpit .
  3. Thanks Oliver. I will purchase a PE folder. I’ll be asking for help (lol) I’m looking forward to this build Charlie. I’m going to build this with its rotors folded to save on space.
  4. The completed base. Blue painters tape works really well to airbrush the lines. I used Testors Model Master Enamels, and Tamiya acrylics. I dry brushed artist oil’s on the surface to simulate tire marks. I thinned artist oils with mineral spirits to replicate oil stains. The base measures 11 x 11.
  5. This is what a base looks like in raw form. 100 grit for a 1/48th scale model. The sandpaper was attached to the plywood with contact adhesive . Holes punched in sand paper for tiedowns. Holes drill in plywood to add depth for each tiedown. Decorative trim attached to the edge of the plywood. Holes and cracks filled with putty.
  6. Picknpluck, this is a close up of the 1/32nd F-18 base. It is 80 grit. The Helo base is 150 grit.
  7. All, I inadvertently uploaded a post twice. How do I get rid of the duplicate post ?. Thanks in advance.
  8. This is my next project. Has anyone had any issues with this build? As you can see, I’ve purchased the photo etch sets. The screen intake covers look a bit tricky. I don’t have a lot of experience dealing with photo etch. Any advice/feedback would be greatly appreciated

  12. Thank you. This was my second time building this kit. The first time I built it, I was still in high school.
  13. Thanks gents. This was a fun build. The F-4 is hands down, my favorite jet. This was a birthday gift to my younger brother.
