  1. The night vision scope and the Xenon light were scratch built. The mini gun mount was scratch. Other parts are either existing Cobra Company resin or just parts from my spares stash. Chris M
  2. Second, the old Revell kit just finished. Circa early 90's in a low intensity conflict area.
  3. Ray asked about seeing some Huey builds, here are two I have done. First, the Dragon kit built as a UH-1H Nighthawk as flown @1972. Finished last year. Chris M
  4. Here is a photo of what I did in the MH-60M build. It is very plain but 80% of the opening is obscured by the swashplate, and the rotor blade also interferes with looking into that opening. If you go back and look at the photo in the finished build thread that shows the rotor from top you'll see how little exposure to what's below actually exists. Everyone does things differently and I am not discouraging you from getting the resin transmission, I'm only illustrating the reality for you. Chris M
  5. Yes it is. But you can't see much of it once the rotor assembly is in place.I made some small discs with a punch and put them across the top to resemble the real one. I also added a few tube extensions across the front to simulate the drive connectors and a tube at the back which may be the drive shaft link to the tail rotor. Once finished and you look through what little of the hole is visible you get an effect of something there. If you were going to open that cowling, the resin transmission would be very useful but if not, it's something you just would not see much of. You would know it's t
  6. Nicely done. Here is a tip you need to know. The two parts that help make up the engine bays, R-30B and L-30B, extend into the transmission opening. The top corners of the parts tend to interfere with the swashplate ( B-58) control tube ends. I found it necessary to trim the upper forward corners back to eliminate this contact. This allows the main rotor to rotate freely. Chris M
  7. Thank you all for your kind words. Chris M
  8. The spacer was added to the trailing edge, basically extended it. I used an appropriate thickness of Evergreen strip that was 1.5mm wide and feathered it in.The exhausts are the UES Special edition Cobra Company sells, they are hollowed out to allow the baffles to be inserted. That was completely a trail and error exercise of cutting and shaping each one individually. The placement is in accordance with the photos provided with the Special Edition set. Chris M
  9. Thanks Lindsay. Aaron, could not have been as successful as it was without your and Floyd's references. Very key to realism. Chris M
  10. Thanks Gino, Ramon and Oliver. Chris M
  11. Thanks for the kind word. It's not a contest type build but looks interesting in my model case. Yes, the wheels are from Shapeways, kind of nice really. the paint was 2/3 Model Master helo drab acrylic and 1/3 Model Master interior black acrylic. This blend was suggested by Floyd as it was reported to him that it's the way they are really painted. This matched the photo of the aircraft I tried to copy quite well. Personally, I think this can vary depending on who's mixing the paint that day and how much of each color they use. Some MH-6's I have personally seen looked black to me, in bright da
  12. A few more of the bottom and tail. Chris M
  13. I tried taking some closer shots of certain areas. I figured out how to transfer the actual pics. Chris M
  14. The main rotor blades on the real M are 4" wider in chord. I blended in a 1.5mm spacer to imitate that. It's really hard to tell. The tips were cut off and the resin replacement tips included in the Cobra Company set were glued on. Chris M
  15. I didn't take any build photos and my cameras are not very sophisticated. Sorry. Chris M
  16. This is my recently completed MH-60M in 1/35th scale. It was made by converting the Academy/MRC AH-60L DAP as a base and adding details from the Cobra Company line. Required a bit of advance thinking and on the fly adjustments but it turned out to my satisfaction. Chris M
  17. It's in the resin set, part #14 of the MH-60M specific parts. It was to be placed on the upper rear area in between the exhaust outlets. Either it has been relocated on this airframe or a second one is installed. After looking at over 2,000 MH-60M photos it has become obvious to me that the placement of antennas may not be a standardized thing. Chris M
  18. The actual problem with the tail is the angle of the fin, it should tilt further aft. That's a hard fix. Instead, cut the boom along the panel line that is in front of the synch elevator holes and insert a 3/8" plug. That gives you clearance and makes the whole model look a bit longer. Chris M
  19. Here is a link to the user manual illustration. Ray may have actual pictures of it handy. Chris M http://incolor.inetnebr.com/iceman/data/arm21.jpg
  20. Thanks for your suggestion. If you can find out for yourself, like you have demonstrated you can, then you are a step ahead and will know right off if you like the postage. The sources are open to anyone who takes a minute to look. It seems most people want me to do that rather than spend THEIR time doing it. International customers are often turned away by postal costs, like $14.00 for $6.00 product. No brainer there. Many people don't want to pay for $14.00 for a $28.00 product. Monetary and tax conditions by country are so varied that what people can or are willing to spend can be THE most
  21. We do not falsify US Customs shipping documents. It is crime for which we can be prosecuted. The buyer has to accept that we will not do this and it is published on our web site under Shipping information. We have had many attempts to coerce us into doing this by international customers. In effect, they would only order if we falsified the documents. For us this a "legal issue" that we will not compromise. We do not care that other vendors may do this to clinch a sale, we will not. Period. Chris Miller Cobra Company
  22. There is no minimum as every order can present different factors. Chris Miller Cobra Company
