  1. I was just wondering from anyone who went to the nats if Kitty Hawk was there and if they had a test shot of the FJ-3 Fury or if it's still box art and CADs still. I'm kind of interested in whether they can pull this one off well.
  2. Box is open but inner bags are sealed. $47.00 shipped. U.S. and PayPal only please. Thanks!
  3. If you need a 1/48 F-4F, I have the Hasegawa "Hollomon AFB" boxing- it's open but the inner bags are sealed. $47.00 shipped, and since you just got a bad deal you don't have to pay until I send you a USPS tracking number. Yours if you're interested. .. Let me know
  4. I think my washing machine is on its last leg so I will have to part with one of my Collect Aire Tigers. For those who aren't familiar, it is an all resin kit with white metal parts and vacu-form canopies. Decals are pretty nice: VF-21 with the shark mouth and Blue Angel #1. $110.00 shipped. PayPal and U.S. only please. Will also send tracking number once shipped.
  5. It's all good stuff. I didn't know that the CMK cockpit would fit the Monogram kit with little fuss. It depends on how far you want to go with it I guess. The CMK cockpit, resin pylons (if you happen to find them) , and I think someone just did a replacement cowl for it. Of course the correct weapons and decals. On the updates you could easily spend more than the kit!
  6. Hmmm... Didn't AMK do that? It wasn't a subject that I was particularly interested in but I thought they did that with something like the Kfir.
  7. Trumpeter and their 1/32 F4F Wildcat I believe is what you are thinking of. The fuselage was way off in several areas. It was re-tooled and reissued.
  8. Interesting. I don't think I ever saw the CMK cockpit. It looks good though. I think it was KMC that did a set of weaponless pylons but they're out of production. I want to say that I remember reading that the bombs Monogram molded on are the wrong type for one of the boxings. Either the Air Force or Navy didn't use the fuse extenders.
  9. Darn. Heck, if I had known you were interested I know people at the museum in Pensacola. I could have probably gotten you something that you could have used. If you ever do anything naval aviation related and need something, give me a holler.
  10. I'm not sure what seat Monogram was going for either. But, honestly, replacing it would cause way more headaches than it's worth since it's molded integrally with the cockpit tub. I'd just paint it up and roll on. The only real thing that I would do is cut the weapons off of the pylons to do the correct configuration for the Midway airplane.
  11. Is there any chance if/when this thing hits the shelves of seeing decals for the early orange and white scheme that had the gold aviator's wings and 'Fly Navy' on the fuselage?
  12. Thanks for the replies- that's what I needed to know! Hobby Lobby carries a good variety of enamel thinners including Model Master and Turpenoid so I will be good to go. I couldn't find anyone who carries the Tamiya stuff, which is why I had to find an alternative. Thanks again!
  13. I've been wanting to try this stuff for a while and finally got some. I was wondering if any enamel thinner will work to clean it up or does it HAVE to be Tamiya's enamel thinner. I wouldn't think there would be a difference but I'd like to hear from others who have used it to make sure.
  14. Ok, the request for photos was for Orion Field not the F-11 stuff I mentioned. My bad! I think I'm on the same page as most people- the idea is interesting but I would like to have a good track record of kits produced to be more confident in making an investment. I'll keep an eye on this topic.
  15. No, I think he was meaning my F11F stuff. I've been at work actually. I'll post a better response when I get home.
  16. If somebody seriously wanted to do a 1/48 F11F Tiger, I could get them about half way on the main airframe components. I have wings, horizontal stabilizers, the fin with the fairing at the base and the ejection seat already mastered. I also have plenty of digital photos of the real thing to do it right. That being said I'm not thrilled about paying up front for a product that I might never see and with no real guarantee that the finished thing would be worth the investment.
  17. If you want to sell it, give me a shout. Shipping is to 73160.
  18. I bought someone a set of CAM Blue Angels F-4 decals and the experience was so bad that I don't plan on buying either the Phantom or Hornet sheets for my Blue Angels builds. I'm going to roll with Kinetic's kit decals for the Hornet at least.
  19. Yes, in FL there's no need to warm the paint any more! If you go to the gallery and look on page 2 of the A-4 Skyhawk builds at Drew Thompson's, you can get an idea of how it comes out. His BA Skyhawk is where I originally got the idea to try the Tamiya sprays.
  20. Tamiya TS-15 Blue is what I'm using for the Phantom, Skyhawk, and Hornet. My pick for the yellow is TS-34 Camel Yellow although they do make TS-47 Chrome Yellow if you prefer. To me the blue looks spot on. Contrary to the reports, the Krylon color is far too bright. Krylon is also enamel. I don't usually like lacquer paints or gloss paints, but the Tamiya sprays are great. Warm them for 15 minutes before spraying, and do so over either Tamiya white primer or a base coat of Tamiya flat white. They lay down a smooth, glossy finish that dries in about 24 hours. I actually do recommend the Tamiya
  21. Looks good! If Monogram had only done a Cougar to the same level that they did the Panther, it would have put the Kitty Hawk kit to shame. Hopefully getting your kit wasn't as, "interesting" , shall we say as mine was for the Blue Angels build. Well done.
  22. You know, I was going to post a topic on this very thing. There have been a couple of build ups/test shots so I figured that a release was imminent but then nothing. I'd like to know too. I personally like the early orange and white with the naval aviator wings and 'Fly Navy' under the rear cockpit!
  23. That's pretty cool! I will be in Pensacola in July and hope to get to watch them practice. I am also a contributing photographer for Detail & Scale. There wouldn't be any chance to get clearance to photograph one of their jets would there?
