  1. Don't know if this little lot will help, but; http://www.aerofiles.com/fok-c2a.jpg http://avstop.com/news/qm.html http://www.unrealaircraft.com/forever/long_range_fliers.php And especially this, an article all about the aircraft and mission; http://www.afa.org/magazine/march2003/0303qmark.pdf The last link is probably the most useful as a reference. HTH Cheers Matt
  2. On ebay at the moment pretty cheap, recommended? Cheers Matt
  3. Thats what I thought, I don't see the point of taking him along if he's just going to suffer for it. Plus, what with feeding, hydrating, nappy changing etc, I think it would be a waste of our time and his. I'll keep taking him to 'low key' airshows to get him into it, then take him along to major shows if he wants to go, when he is old enough. There's no way he would keep ear defenders on for more than 3 seconds, we have to tie his sunhat on as it is! I always take some 'in ear' sponge plugs when I go to a military airshow, just to be on the safe side. When I took him to OW, it was a nice
  4. Cheers Murph, that another one of lifes mysteries solved :( Matt
  5. My son is 19 months old, and I am wondering, is it likely that the noise levels at an airshow could cause damage to his ears? I know that technically, the noise at airshows can exceed the 'dangerous' level, so I thought perhaps the little guy's ears could not handle it. Also, given the crush and business, it just seems to me a bad idea, anyone got any advice to offer on this one, I took him to the Spring Air Display at Old Warden this year, which didn't seem to worry him, but that was mainly props and not too crowded (actually one of the best OW shows I have been to) As much as I love going
  6. This could apply to any AC with raked intakes like the F15, but as we have a couple of F15 drivers on board, I thought I'd ask in relation to them. Given the rake on the intakes, if you 'push' sufficiently to acquire a negative AOA figure, is there a risk of engine stall due to the 'blanking' effect of the intake mouth in relation to the airflow (see my little diagram)? Cheers Matt
  7. This thread has just reminded me of something... I am pretty sure that I had a 1:72 Be12 injection moulded kit, which I got from a shop in Bonn, probably around 1989. Somehow it never made it back to the UK when I came back from Germany, someone probably found it in the hostel and made off with it. Makes me wonder which kit it was.... Cheers Matt
  8. Thats brilliant Greg, thankyou! Although I'm not sure which face I should put my mugshot onto Cheers Matt
  9. Bags of Milk? Sounds like an udderly sensible idea to me  Our milk comes in 4 pint plastic bottles that are just the right size not to fit into the fridge. Actually, they are a PITA, especially when trying to cram them into the stupidly small recycling box we get given by the council
  10. This is the last bit I need sorting out. According to the colour call outs in the Revell kit, the forward deck on "Blondie" should be Olive Drab. According to some references I have seen, it should be black. Why is this so confusing Cheers Matt
  11. I use lead flashing for balance weight in RC models, I get small rolls of it without bitumen from a local builders merchants. Quite pricey, but would keep you going for an age. One thing I have done, though I don't know how well it would translate into styrene sizes, is to grind the lead sheet down on a surform, making a sort of 'lead filings' which I can mix with epoxy resin or even plastacine. Cheers Matt
  12. Thanks for that Robin, I'll have to have a browse, although, given the state of my LMS, I doubt I'll find anything other than an AF Red Arrows Presentation Pack and a tinlet of Humbrol Clear Metallic Green. I'll give Hannants a shot when I have some spare money (best estimate - 2010) Cheers Matt

    P51D Question

I mentioned something along these lines in my post. I think perhaps I phrased it a little wrong. What I was getting at is that there is no absolute truth about a particular aircraft at a particular point, other than a contemporary and detailed reference. I truly applaud the efforts of those like yourself, doing amazing work on Mustangs and other warbirds. I think the difference is, and this was my point, is that whereas in your restorations, so far as I understand it, you are trying to restore a particular aircraft to a near pristine condition. When we make a plastic kit, we are trying to r

    P51D Question

Thanks folks, interesting information and a lot of confusion out there. Seems though, that this particular aircraft was delievered with the puttied wings which were never changed, so thats the route I will go down. Got the fuselage together last night, quite a lot of sanding required it seems, the seams are pretty obvious at the moment. Cheers Matt
