  1. Underside of coaming is coming along (despite my big, cold, shivering, fingers).
  2. The angle that you hold your scriber can make a difference here, more vertical seems to cut better but is harder to control. Soft plastic can also cause difficulties. After making a first pass with a needle, I lightly sand w/1200, then use a toothbrush to clear out debris. Do a light second pass if necessary.
  3. Nice, looking forward to the ejection seat.
  4. Looking good. Your second attempt at the cockpit was well worth it!
  5. I also use striaght pin/ needle. I filed the points (chucked in a dremel) so that I have several diameter to chose from. I also use the same for poking rivets. In some instances I use a Zactoblade to start a panel line, then use the straight pin method to finish it (followed by a lite sanding and toothbrush). As far as Zactoblades go, #11 for easy surfaces. #10 curved blade works great for going around curved surfaces.
  6. Great job! Is this paint job an example of pre-shading?
  7. I'm starting to get worried. I've only posted this here on ARC and you guys have already made 30 or 40 requests for the parts! How am I going to keep up? I'm hoping to have the parts ready to start a business after the first of the year. Unfortunately, my work is moving to Burbank and the shop will be in a disarray for a while (end of Jan?). I'll try to pump out a few sets ASAP for those who can't possibly wait. The good news is that I'm getting a spin-casting machine after we move there!!! (Metal landing gear struts? Better urethane castings?) Thanks again for all the support you guys are g
  8. Fortunately, it got too cold for me last night. I was about to 'wing it' and add raised ribs where there are none, just rows of rivets.
  9. Outstanding my friend. Great pictures, Thanks Kasatka...
  10. I don't get it, you can walk on it in about 20 minutes...
  11. He chose to mix kit parts with Black Box parts. He used the kits front shroud, instrument panel, and tub. In order to use the Black Box tub and insrtument panel, you have to use the Black Box front shroud (as the BB instrument panel is wider than the kit part and won't fit in the kit shroud).
  12. IRST housing almost finished... Next comes the internal canopy framing details. I'm anxious to get this finished and into kit form so I can actually find time to build the model!
  13. Looks really nice, especially next to the X-1. (Not so sure about the dinosuar extinction background though, wrong time period)
  14. Very nicely done! Love the display!
  15. Flankerman will get a first edition set for review on his website!
  16. I find the technique very interesting, but still prefer the cleaner look of lightened edges with oil washed panel lines. I also have this 'thing' about liking to lay down an initial, very solid base /color coat. I may just play with it a little on my current build of the 1/32 Flanker.
  17. IRST housing is coming along. The conversion will require removing the existing hump from the kit and extending the cut-out for the ball forward a bit. The clear dome is the kit part with the flange sanded down.
  18. I made it fit ! Without too much work...Black box Su-27 cockpit, does it fit ? Next comes the IRST platform. All that's left will be detailing the canopy frames and the piece that goes behind the seat in the caonopy. Anybody know of any good pictures showing the top of this piece as viewed looking through the canopy?
  19. For 72 scale to 24th multiply by 300%. For 48 scale to 24th multiply by 200%.
  20. Thanks for all the kind words and encouragment. This is really frustrating. I picked up the black box cockpit today and after trimming and fitting the front instrument shroud,,, It don't fit! It's too wide for both the kit canopy and my replacement part. (My canopy does work with the kit parts) Such a shame, the black box kit is beautiful. I'm working on modifying the part to make it work. I have to make it work, I'm going to make it work, I will, I will, I will!!!
