  1. I’ve got several rocket kits from Realspace, Rho, Attic and similar vendors waiting to be started. They don’t come with stands, will not support themselves in a vertical position, and will be fairly heavy and delicate when finished. Where do people start with building custom stands? Perhaps something that would firmly hold a 1/8” or so steel rod vertical in a lamp base to meet a corresponding hole drilled into the model? Are there standard parts somewhere? Thanks!
  2. Okay, the GWH air brake has a flat underside. We will need a replacement with the framing…
  3. What does the underside of the F-15EX air brake look like? Flat or is there framed structure?
  4. Uniform color all the way back - thanks jtalex94! And the one-piece kit intakes duplicate the rectangular scoop inside - model kit design has come a long way since I started with Lindbergh X-3s...
  5. Pieter, thanks for that image. Of interest are the various tones of black - glossy nose tip radome, mottled and faded ASARS nose, uniform flat black on the remainder of the presumably recently painted airframe. After test fitting the kit parts, it looks to me as if the Y-duct and fan will not be particularly visible from the inlets so paint color selection may not even matter. In most of the photo's I've found, due to exposure settings, the shadows basically black out everything past the first foot or two from the inlet opening (except for achterkirch's).
  6. interesting just how faded the black paint is in those two images, almost looks gunship gray. The black wrap around onto the inner lip will be a challenge to duplicate. Thanks also to achterkirch!
  7. KursadA, will the big wedge shaped MAWS fairings located right under the canopy sills be in your upcoming F-15EX set? I understand operational planes might not have them, but at least some of the initial production articles do (or at least it looks that way in images I've seen). Thanks!
  8. Hello, I'm doing research prior to attempting the new Hobby Boss U-2S Senior Span kit. The instructions say that the internal Y-shaped intake duct (parts E25, E26, E30 and E31) which connects to the engine compressor face is to be painted white. There are no color callouts for the interior of the external air intakes themselves, which are impressively molded in one seamless piece nearly an inch deep for each side. A build article by David Aungst at Hyperscale states that the intake interiors are FS 34424 green. Does the green extend all the way back to the compressor face, or does
  9. looking forward to the F-15EX printed conversion parts!
  10. The Armory instructions show the photoetch screens placed across the inlet trunks. There are several photos of the real vehicles showing perforated sections on the intake splitter sidewalls but nothing mounted sideways across the ducts, so I have placed the photoetched panels there with some trimming so that the upper fuselage can come down onto the splitter. One thing I should have done but didn't is open up the trailing surface of the wedge underneath the intake surrounding the forward landing gear doors, which is a fully open vent on the real aircraft. Another missed opportunity
  11. Armory XB-70 2024 decals.pdf The copy I purchased last month has a different decal sheet than the pre-release image; US insignia have a thicker and more correct appearing border now. Fit at the forward fuselage-to-wing and engine pod-to-wing joints is poor. The main landing gear bays are visible thru the intake, and I plan to fair them in with styrene strips. The horizontal lip of the intake is too thick and will have to be thinned down. I interrupted a couple of other projects figuring that this was an all white spray can project that could be knocked out over a weekend. After st
  12. The MRP-392 bottle is labelled "pearl gray FS 26493", which is the exact callout on a paint layout diagram for the UAE Block 60 F-16F. I can't remember where I found the diagram, this model has been sitting on my workbench for several years. Now that I have the appropriate MRP paint color, I plan to resume construction.
  13. that's what I get for using Duck Duck Go. Thanks! And of course, found Mr Paint MRP392 at Sprue Brothers.
  14. Hello, I'm attempting a F-16 UAE Block 60 model. The paint scheme is two tones, dark FS36375 and light FS26493. I'm not having any luck finding FSx6493 from any of the usual paint vendors. Does anybody make it?
