  1. Ammo paints are completely non toxic n weathering can be done with pastels n pigment powders. Tamiya panel line wash has a minimal amount of fumes n I use ammo odorless enamel thinner to remove it
  2. Look into ammo, paints n weathering products. I've been using them for a while and really like them. I doubt you'll have issues finding colors either
  3. I use it for practice. Try something you wouldn't normally do because now your at a point where your ready to bin it anyway. What's the wrist that could happen? I get out the sandpaper and remove all evidence of the goof and start over on the area. Usually I find a really cool effect that looks like heavy weathering . blending and fading with sanding sponges has become a regular practice I use to get some very cool results. if it's still turning your stomach, use it to practice painting on n spares. I used to trash a model in frustration but now I exercise more patience and see each set
  4. Yep. This is kinda like the bit of ho-hum I'm getting as I begin final assembly. This is quickly followed up by a "now what?" thought when it's done
  5. I tend to dabble in a little esoteric type stuff..mysticism, occult...I have a guru I follow. One concept I find intriguing is the Universal Law of Attraction. Basically, a thought combined with an emotion as though the thing actually exists will force the thought to be manifested in physical form. I know these anecdotes about spending time and money on a subject that isn't Available are pretty funny for the most part. But there is a part of me doing the dog head tilt thing as I'm reading. Hey, I like to consider the possibilities...very entertaining thread, makes me feel better knowing I
  6. Guess the word is out...that 'Murphys law of modeling' thread is playing out in real time. Although, a quick glance shows it's available on their site
  7. -Ammo protective green #0023 -Ammo warhead metallic blue #0196 -Ammo light grey green #0201
  8. My pleasure. This site is an amazing treasure trove of info and I'm fortunate that I know a few guys in the fighter pilot community and can contribute on occasion. πŸ‘
  9. I'll dive in, let me grab a flash light...your talking about identity and I agree totally. We identify ourselves as a set of things and the mind will immediately adopt and protect that set of things. One protection method is to judge others according to the adopted identities. Personally, I've noticed that I get a little saddened near the end of a build. All the excitement and anticipation when I first open the box has faded and the imagination exercise has ended. I guess I find pleasure in the process and the challenge of bringing the build to life..each piece can be a model if you
  10. 100% πŸ˜†. I wonder what I spend more time on, the build or the corrections as I build. ..oh, and I'm always good for forgetting to add a nose weight until after the pit n fuselage are all buttoned up. I did it again on the mig 21 I'm building now.
  11. Just checked with my bro at Luke..no US f16s are changing canopies. The tint serves other purposes besides lighting n has no effect on gogs. He didn't know about Israeli vipers
  12. I do the main aircraft body, landing gear and weapons/stores as separate builds then bring them together in final assembly. I'm guessing this is standard for the majority here.
  13. Ammo of mig one shot primer. Non toxic, no thinning, easy as pie and comes out velvety smooth
  14. Whatever works man. I don't have some elaborate hobby room with a giant desk and multiple organizers..just a basic desk set up in my room. Works for me just fine.
  15. During final assembly, while gluing on the last part, I will knock off at least 2 of the previous parts I glued on
  16. That's the type of experience that makes me avoid the whole contest scene.
  17. Great looking buildπŸ‘. Love the markings and the dirty tracks are a great touch.
  18. Ammo of mig Red seems to be a perfect match for me when I've used it with NAVY/USMC planes.
  19. Elmers makes a clear glue that dries...well, clear. It doesn't have any milky tint. Gorilla glue has a clear epoxy tube, I picked one up online for about 7 bucks.
  20. Like Bob said, sounds like the panel lines are lost. I've had good results using tamiya panel line washes on flat coated surfaces. You have to be more cautious if your trying to keep a cleaner overall look but I like the effect.
  21. I like the Gorilla brand of super glue
  22. Iwata. HP Mstor mentioned is great and the Revolution series are great for the money
  23. Looking great!! I'm sold on the kit just for the tracks...i actually stopped building tanks because of the tracks building process.
