This is what happens when unfounded criticism is made based just on a single photo pronouncing the kit unbuildable. : (   : (   : (

Yes, compared to the rest of this great kit, the gun muzzle fit isn't the greatest, but ...

the ONLY piece on my kit that had flash on it (significant) was Part B10, a panel just to the rear of the gun cover. Unfortunately that very prominent piece will require careful trimming, fitting and filling: My initial fill:

    Major pieces click together!

EDIT: Craig, your post showed up as I was typing. Thanks for that review - you've been doing your homework.

Has anyone received the kit? Any opinions on it???

@Craig Baldwin and I have had the kits for a couple of weeks (thanks to HLJ Private Warehouse :thumbsup2:),  and we've been comparing notes. He is way ahead of me in the build and I suspect he will present a summary of his experience shortly.  Great modeler, he is.

I think the kit is great in all respects - packaging, molding, fit, and accuracy. I've read some concern about filling the seam in the full length duct, but it will be a simple fill since the fit is tight. The duct design, in my opinion, is a great alignment feature that I'd like to see in other kits. Sure have come a long way since the days when we had poorly placed blanking plates in the intakes!

For the ones who speak the language it must be interesting.

If someone like me, at least you can understand some of the reasons for some design features of the kit.

On a YouTube video, one can click  CC (Closed Captioning) and then in Settings select Subtitles/Auto Translate/English (or another language if desired) to get  a clue as to what is being said ... but the translation is extremely rough and requires imagination. The FineMolds president must have a tough accent/dialect that YouTube Translate has trouble understanding. :dontknow:

... the box art, proportions and shapes look off in that depiction.

Even with some perspective correction, the art looks a bit wonky.

The sooner the kit gets to me, the better ... so I can backdate it to this outstanding art:

    Thanks Solo - great reference!

For those who are going to download this treasure chest, a shortcut is to copy and paste the above link into the browser address bar, change the 0 to 1, and hit return - the download will start to your computer (file is a .rar).

  6. I initially thought that the F-2A/B kits would have a single and two-seat top fuselage inert ... but the F-2A fuselage top is one piece front to back.

So here is the F-2B fuselage in-progress from FineMolds:

The fitting of parts looks not so great as the propganda says.

Your eyes are MUCH more critical than mine :hmmm:. Based on the limited photos I've seen, I think the fit looks great ... a fact that I'll have a chance to validate next week

Any news about release date? I hope May or June at least.

As I said a few posts above:

... the F-2A kits are still expected to ship to dealers at the end of May (31 May). That means dealers like Hobby Search and Hobby Link Japan will have them on hand to ship to customers in the first week in June. The F-2B is still on track for "sometime" in August.

I can only find that his name is Hasegawa and here he is with the FineMolds president Mr Suzuki at the  ModelArt Art booth.

That Mr. Hasegawa (not the manufacturer) has a youtube channel where he and his crew frequently live stream model making techniques, product reviews, and builds of the latest kits. Appears he is affiliated/sponsored by Model Art, and has an association with Fine Molds' Mr. Suzuki, the president. In that regard, Craig, he did initial sample builds of the FM Phantom after interviewing Mr. Suzuki. By extrapolation, I anticipate he will shortly stream an F-2 build.

And talk about short -- the streams sometimes reach over three hours in length ... but by using Youtube replays with Fast Forward and Closed Captioning (with Translate), those of us with limited time can skip much of the "insignificant" chit chat.😏

P.S. Thanks for the inspiration, Gregg. Will be interesting to see what the F-3 turns out to be since the US quashed the F-22/F-35 hybrid that the Japanese wanted. Looks like BAE and Mitsubishi will be the winners ... .
