  1. Good Seeing you, Lee. It's always good to see another Agape-ite out and about. My hands just aren't steady enough for that sort of scratchbuilding. I think I've got a replacement for the copilot's collective, but the pilots, I don't know…
  2. There was a company (Horizon Models?) that did a resin 1/48 Pawnee, but I know nothing about its current status.
  3. Thanks, Gary. That collective looks a little more complicated than I thought. Unfortunately...
  4. I keep hoping for a good, state-of-the-art kit in 1/48.
  5. I'd love to see one, but as far as the likelihood? I'd say not very likely.
  6. Looking really good to me, not that I'm any sort of OV-10 expert...
  7. That collective lever looks pretty basic from this drawing. https://www.dropbox.com/sh/8fk7s9zdb9qzd2x/AADuVgZMvq_hcVgvi13rdORpa?dl=0&lst=&preview=H-34+TM+scans_2.JPG
  8. It''s an F-4J-27 Mc According to Joe Baugher's site: 153076 (MSN 1567) flew with Blue Angels. Converted to QF-4J drone as 405, later to EF-4J. SOC at NAF China Lake, California Mar 1, 1982 Darren, once I get my A-3 I'll be looking for your resin.
  9. This is one I want to do. These were taken at Roosevelt Roads Puerto Rico in 1975-80 time frame.
  10. Gary, do you have a good drawing or photo of the collective lever in your stash? My scratchbuilding skills aren't that good, but maybe I can find a suitable replacement or some bright spark resin entrepreneur could come up with something.
  11. It looks like, reading your AKAN info there that, yes, that's the gray you should use.
  12. I liked Modelmaster Metalizers Titanium for mine. Probably a bit too dark, but I liked the effect and a little judicious polishing here and there can keep it from looking too bland. I use the same paint for the aft fuselage area.
  13. I think on the head-on CAD view I can see an airfoil shape on the horizontal stabilizer. I'm looking forward to this. I had the Testors kit along with the very nice Paragon conversion, but I ended up trading it away. I just didn't feel up to all the work required. I know I could have done it, I just didn't feel like doing it, I guess. However I got a really good trade for a kit I know I'll enjoy building. Really looking forward to seeing the Bronco. I hope that it's a well done kit (along the lines of a GWH or AMK kit) that only the true nitpickers can find fault with.
  14. As that isn't a removable panel, you may not have much luck finding out what's in there behind the screen. Here's a couple of ,pics I've got: http://s20.photobucket.com/user/DDonSS3/library/SH-34J?sort=3&page=1 The grille you're looking for is in the lower left corner of this pic (these pics were taken at the Tennessee State Museum of Aviation): http://s20.photobucket.com/user/DDonSS3/library/Tennessee Museum of Aviation/UH-34J
  15. Got anymore, Larry? I've got a nice Japanese RF-4 to trade. Just kidding…
  16. Post some pics over on the Props section of the forum.

I see what you're saying. I had read "somewhere" that (it may have been one of the Japanese fighters (Ki-84?)) that, due to strategic metals shortages, the factory had designed a wooden version that actually turned out to be heavier than the original. I'm certain I'd read that elsewhere, too, but I can't remember where. Again, I can't remember how it affected performance. I think for the "Metal Mosquito" it would probably have been at least as fast and, if lighter, I'd think more nimble.
  18. Xtracolour also has this color in their range. IIRC, it's one of the (relatively) few Matte colors in their range.

    Ejector marks

You're essentially stuck with filling and sanding. If you use Milliput or a similar product you can fill, then smooth the putty with a dampened fingertip, thereby not sanding away your detailing. Failing that, fill and sand as normal. As it's on the bottom of the wing it may not be as visible to the casual observer.

Please forgive my response if it seems snarky, but I'm betting if it had been all metal it may not have been built. I don't know if it would have been lighter or heavier, and I don't know about aerodynamic smoothness inherent in the wood construction of the Mosquito would be affected by those changes either. I doubt that the Air Ministry would have been interested.
  21. It's basically the same kit, with detail differences, so I would think so.
  22. IIRC many B-25 units flew without a copilot. I'm not sure how common this was, but I think it was more common in the Pacific than in Europe or the Mediterranean theaters.
