    According to Joe Baugher's site:

     

    153076 (MSN 1567) flew with Blue Angels.  Converted to QF-4J drone as 405, later to EF-4J.  SOC at NAF China Lake, California Mar 1, 1982

    Darren, once I get my A-3 I'll be looking for your resin.

  2. I liked Modelmaster Metalizers Titanium for mine. Probably a bit too dark, but I liked the effect and a little judicious polishing here and there can keep it from looking too bland. I use the same paint for the aft fuselage area.

  3. I think on the head-on CAD view I can see an airfoil shape on the horizontal stabilizer.

    I'm looking forward to this. I had the Testors kit along with the very nice Paragon conversion, but I ended up trading it away. I just didn't feel up to all the work required. I know I could have done it, I just didn't feel like doing it, I guess. However I got a really good trade for a kit I know I'll enjoy building.

    Really looking forward to seeing the Bronco. I hope that it's a well done kit (along the lines of a GWH or AMK kit) that only the true nitpickers can find fault with.

  5. I see what you're saying. I had read "somewhere" that (it may have been one of the Japanese fighters (Ki-84?)) that, due to strategic metals shortages, the factory had designed a wooden version that actually turned out to be heavier than the original. I'm certain I'd read that elsewhere, too, but I can't remember where. Again, I can't remember how it affected performance. I think for the "Metal Mosquito" it would probably have been at least as fast and, if lighter, I'd think more nimble.

  6. You're essentially stuck with filling and sanding. If you use Milliput or a similar product you can fill, then smooth the putty with a dampened fingertip, thereby not sanding away your detailing. Failing that, fill and sand as normal. As it's on the bottom of the wing it may not be as visible to the casual observer.

  7. Please forgive my response if it seems snarky, but I'm betting if it had been all metal it may not have been built. I don't know if it would have been lighter or heavier, and I don't know about aerodynamic smoothness inherent in the wood construction of the Mosquito would be affected by those changes either. I doubt that the Air Ministry would have been interested.
