    Norwegian P-3N

IIRC Norway originally recieved P-3Bs. Then they traded (most) of them back to Lockheed and recieved P-3Cs. You'll need to make a number of changes, the main (visual) item being filling in the sonobuoy launch tubes on the lower fuselage. The fuselage windows in the aft fuselage have a different configuration from the B to the C. There are other changes, but right now I can't remember what they are. You might try these websites: P-3 Orion Research Group: http://home.wxs.nl/~p3orion/ Norwegian Military Aviation on the Net: http://home.online.no/~vingtor/ Official RNorAF Site: http://ww
  2. I've posted a series of photos I took of an AH-1F circa 1995-96. The photos were taken at JRB Willow Grove, PA. Hopefully someone working on Monogram's 1/48th scale kit will find them useful. http://s20.photobucket.com/albums/b229/DDonSS3/AH-1S/ Comments welcome.

    IAF P-51D

--> QUOTE(Mr B @ Jul 5 2006, 11:48 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Hi Folks I picked up recently the Trumpeter offering of the P-51D Mustang in 1/24 scale. Just wondering can an Isreali P-51D be achieved OOB?. Also any insights on the kit....all I can say its a big fellow also any ideas as to aftermarket decal options? Thanks and Regards, Mr No reason you can't use the Trumpeter kit for an IAF aircraft. After reading the review(s) listed, you'll know what the plastic holds in store for you. The main problem I see for you is finding IAF markings in 1/24th.

    help needed...

Don't know that this will help with drawings, but it's a very good site for AD/A-1 info: http://www.abledogs.com/

    DC-3 TO C-47

Also some aircraft had a starboard-side entrance door. I've included a link to some pics I took of a DC-3 in Tullahoma, TN last month. According to the pilot, this DC-3 is in the same markings it was in when purchased by AAL in 1937. http://s20.photobucket.com/albums/b229/DDonSS3/DC-3/ HTH

    Turbo Otter

I didn't find any drawings, but did a Google image search on "Turbo Otter" and came up with a boatload of good photos: http://www.google.com/images?as_q=&svnum=1...earch=&safe=off hth
  8. Don't know if this will help much, but may be worth a look: http://www.abledogs.com/
  9. I think he meant drawings like the ones FSM had a while back. IIRC they were directly from Lockheed-Martin.
  10. Before AMTech releases their kits, someone MUST complete a KAE/Monogram conversion and post build pics online, then and ONLY then will AMTech release them.java script:emoticon('', 'smid_4') I've got my KAE conversions and the Monogram kits in the stash now, but due to domestic situation, no building occurring right now.

    Turbo Otter

Sacrilege I say!!! Replacing those round engines with those whiney turbo thingies! Just kidding. I understand the economics of such a conversion on the real aircraft. I heard rumor somewhere that DHC sold the tooling to a company in BC (IIRC) for renewed production.
  12. I've found out that (apparently) I can't use my Hasegawa F-4EJ (JASDF) kit to make a HAF F-4. Any suggestions on which kit to look for?

    Have you tried here? http://www.ruudleeuw.com/cuatro_vientos04.htm

    Revell P-3 Orion

The kit represents the P-3C version. IIRC it's a baseline P-3C model, I don't know if Hasegawa has changed the molds to reflect any of the P-3C Updates. The kit istelf is preyy good, IIRC the biggest problem is fitting the lower fuselage section (containing the sonobuoy launchers), it will take some filling and sanding to get it to fit.
  15. After looking at photos and reading descriptions of the colors, I'm thinking of Xtracolor's RLM-76 for mine.
  16. Glad you mentioned that. Got the Tamiya/Paragon Spit Prototype conversion on the bench. I'd read about the crowbar not being there until the Mk.V but had forgotten it. Need to make sure that crowbar goes away.
  17. Check out Kiwi Aircraft Images site. He's got an extensive walkaround on the Lancaster, plus (IIRC) good Mossie cockpit photos. http://www.kiwiaircraftimages.com/ HTH
  18. Google can be your friend: http://www.google.com/images?as_q=avia&svn...earch=&safe=off I got 416 hits, don't know how useful it'll be for you, but may be worth a try.
  19. The tail insignia was red when I was at Muscat in 1980. I've got one of the full size stickers in my stash somewhere. I don't have a clue what aircraft it was for, but one of the Brit maintainers traded it to me for a VP-26 ballcap.
  20. Craig, There's a couple of cockpit shots on airliners.net that might help you. All the flying I did on P-3s, and I never thought to take pics of the seats that may help. Go to the search page and go from there. Some other sites that may help: http://home.wxs.nl/~p3orion/ http://www.vpinternational.ca/ http://www.vpnavy.org/index.html HTH
  21. FS 24151 & 34151 are the same color. The first number in an FS code indicates how "glossy" a specified color is. "1" indicates GLOSS, "2" indicates semi-gloss and "3" indicates flat. I don't recall the final outcome, but if you do a search on hyperscale.com's Plane Talking discussion forum, and do a search for P-51 you'll find some quite detailed posts on P-51 gear bay colors. I do think you're safe in doing the whole cockpit and wheel bays in Interior Green.
  22. Craig, All my phtos are stashed, so I'm going from memory here: Seats were orange with (usually) Gray belts. Belt arrangement was pretty basic, two lap belt pieces and two shoulder belts. There was no standard to how the belts were placed when the seat was unoccupied. When I'd help my FE set up the airplane at postflight, we always crossed the lapbelts on the seat and hung the shoulder belts over the back of the seat. The parts of the seat frame you can see (actually plastic cover for the metal frame) were a gloss to semi-gloss orange. The headrest "surround" was orange vinyl padding.
  23. Are USAF pilots assigned to the EA-6B squadrons, or is it just EWOs? If the pilots are there, it must be quite a change going from the AF way of doing things to the USN ways of doing things, plus learning to land on "the boat."
  24. We knew nothing about the rescue attempt until my NAVCOMM decided to tune in AFRTS radio on one of the HF radios during preflight. They told us nothing about it at the brief on Diego Garcia that morning. The only thing we were told was that we were to go nowhere near the C-130s at the far end of the runway that morning. Our first response to hearing about the attempt was "No way, Jimmy Carter doesn't have the balls!"
  25. Thanks for the info, guys. I was afraid of that. ;)
