If you don't already have one, Revell's new tooled Tornado kits are very nice--there's one boxing that has a Desert Pink RAF version, one with a grey-green camo, and one with German Luftwaffe/Kreigsmarine decals.
  2. Saw an interview with him about his US Navy service--he flew the S-2 Tracker. Rummy answers reporters like nobody else. During Operation Enduring Freedom's opening phases, a reporter demanded to know why the US was using cluster bombs against the Al Qaeda fighters and the Taliban. His response: "Well, we're using them, quite frankly, to kill them." The delivery was so perfect--Clint Eastwood couldn't have said it any better!
  3. As Wayne and Garth used to say: WE'RE NOT WORTHY!!! But we hope you'll sell us a set anyway--great work!!
  4. Also, the 172 is a 4 seater--the 150 and 152 are 2 seaters. Look for the ESCI 172 kit since there is one in 1/48 unless you have exceptional scratch building skills and lots of time. Google "Cessna 150" and "Cessna 152" and you'll see there are very few differences between them, but the 172 is a completely different aircraft. If you have access to a general aviation airfield, you can easily see the difference when a 150 is sitting next to a 172. The 150/152 is easily mistaken for the 172 in flight because their layout is so similar and it's hard to judge the size of the plane at a distanc
  5. I've seen pix on the web of an Alaskan F-15C with CFTs and drop tanks on all 3 points--take off today and land next week! That bird also had a full load of AIM-9s and AIM-7s, so it was definitely configured for air-to-air. One of the Hasegawa F-15C/D kits has the CFTs and the Sparrow/AMRAAM launchers (fuselage flanks being covered by the CFT) used on CAP missions when CFTs are fitted, but I don't know which kit # it is.
  6. SCHWEET!!! We're waiting with breath that smells like bait!
  7. Exactly! Can't have too many Eagles, right?
  8. Here's what I did: Bought both the J and E kits on sale (the non-Bunker Buster version) and switched the tails out. That made the J a C (the fin tops on the J are identical, the USAF C has one that has ECM gear and is visibly bigger) and the E into an I, at least as far as the tails are concerned. You still have a few other details (a grille on the E's left fuselage near the cockpit is deleted on the I), and the need for turkey feathers, but CE's set takes care of that, and includes addititonal chaff dispensers found on F-15Is. If you just want to build an I, you can easily sell the J with
  9. Does anybody have both kits and done a side by side comparison? Specifically, does the Me-262A-2a two gun bomber version kit contain the parts to build the original four gun fighter Me-262A-1a? If they added extra parts, I can get either kit, but if they substituted the bomber parts for the four gun nose, I'll need the 1a kit for sure. It's hard to tell from looking at shots of the sprues, but it sure looks like the 4 gun nose has been replaced by the 2 gun nose in addition to the bombs & racks sprue they added. Why'd ya hafta do that, Trumpeter? Just do the old Hasegawa "parts not for u
  10. Zactoman, the sheet you need is the old Repliscale 32-04 MiG-29 Export Nations sheet. It has Syrian, Indian, Iraqi and North Korean markings. I see it on ebay regularly, and it's seldom a hot auction--you should be able to score one fairly easily. The paint diagram shows the standard Soviet scheme and no notes about any unique export camo scheme--for whatever that's worth. You can also find Syrian markings on Tally Ho sheet # 32-04 (oddly enough--not a typo) Focus on Fishbeds II. Also has a nice Egyptian MiG-21MF camo scheme plus some Yugo machines. Roll Models lists this sheet as in sto
  11. Yeah--make it an E! The first Xactoman conversion set would be a big seller to the legions of us who hate spraying gloss white. A KA-6 set would also be a big hit. The canopy looks OK to me--not like the bug eyed Su-27 that demanded a fix. It would be much easier to judge if it were painted and had the actual clear parts in place, but after studying the test shot pix and comparing them to the real thing, it looks OK so far.
  12. For modeling purposes, only a C would have the IFR probe. There may be other minor differences in the cockpit, but the IFR probe is the major obvious difference.
  13. The Hasegawa F-16CJ kit has the helmet you need, and there are two in each kit, actually new heads to go on the original pilot figure. They added new sprues with the CJ's main gear & doors, and an HGU-55 head is on each of the identical new sprues. Try posting a WTT/WTB notice and maybe somebody will send you their leftover HGU-55 head, which you can then use on the Hasegawa 1/48 crew figures. Or just buy the CJ and build it! If you did that one with an open canopy to show off the pit rather than use the pilot, you'll have 2 HGU-55s for other projects.
  14. Me too, but I read on another forum that only a few additions (TRAM, scoop, airbrakes, IPs) are needed to make an A into an E, so I'm sure some enterprising resin company will come to our rescue.
  15. OK, where does the intakes line form? Got my Zactoman canopy & nose--superb! But those kit intakes just won't cut it. Keep the great work Chris and we're lining up for the next Zacto-set.
  16. Here ya go: http://www.fireballmodels.info/ He has some great sheets, 4 options plus lots of extra numbers, badges, etc. so you can do other Hueys. I have the 1/35 sheet in hand (haven't used them yet) and they look great.
  17. I know it's not on the list, but I'd like either a conversion kit or a complete new kit of the Hind-A, with the greenhouse canopy and tail rotor on the other side. Always thought the A looked even more sinister than the D, which looks sinister as all get out anyway. And Tamiya quality Huey!!!!!!
  18. Monogram, hands down. The Fujimi kit isn't bad, but it has less detail and is an earlier AH-1S. The Monogram kit also includes excellent pilot figures and has all the late AH-1S mods in the box. Ordnance has better detail too.
  19. What he said! The shots of the "rejects" show flaws that can be easily fixed or used as is if you're modeling a closed canopy--which I am for my first Su-27. Why not market the imperfect sets for a few bucks less? Kinda like TV and stereo places have scratch-N-dent sales. It just seems a waste to pitch the less-than-perfect parts. I don't build perfect models and your seconds are still light years ahead of the Trump kit parts. I'm still good for two no matter your decision on the rejects--great work!
  20. Suggestion for Zactoman--Why not offer 2 different sets, one with all the amazing details and the canopy, and the other with just the canopy? I like to model my jets with a pilot in a closed canopy and full load out to depict the plane as it taxis out for take off, and I'm sure there are others who prefer a closed canopy so as not to spoil the Su-27's lines or build gear up, etc. But you'll also sell plenty of the full up version to the same folks who go for resin cockpits. In fact, a Black Box pit would pretty much DEMAND canopy details of equal quality. You're there! I'd probably get
  21. Where's the line form? Put me down for at least 2 of the Zactoman brand Su-27 canopies. It's great to see "one of us" take the initiative and beat the retailers to the punch. Great work!
