  1. I'm in the home stretch on my Fine Molds Slave 1. I did it in the Boba scheme, so I didn't use any of the existing decals. I also closed the side gun doors and kitbashed a cockpit that was more similar to the cockpit shown in Star Wars chronicles. I still have a fair bit of weathering to do, but here it is so far. http://i29.photobucket.com/albums/c269/bbeargie/slave4.jpg http://i29.photobucket.com/albums/c269/bbeargie/slave1.jpg http://i29.photobucket.com/albums/c269/bbeargie/slave3.jpg http://i29.photobucket.com/albums/c269/bbeargie/slave2.jpg http://i29.photobucket.com/albums/c269/bbe
  2. On the Replica Prop Forum, they are designing a new studio scale model of BSG Raptor Thread
  3. They look great! Any chance you might know how to contact Gavin? I'm looking to see where he got those Stormtroopers in that scale. I have a dio of my own that I'm working on! Thanks!
  4. Check again... HLJ.com has tons of Macross stuff. Also, tons on Ebay. Macross has a bunch of underground resin kits too. Just check the Model section of Macrossworld.com. http://www.hlj.com/hljlist2/?Dis=2&MacroTy...il&Word=macross Also, Hasegawa just announced they are doing the Battroid's from Macross Zero. Should be pretty amazing.
  5. I heard bad things about that Hobbyfan VF-4. I did another one that was pictured here:
  6. I thought the 1/72nd Hasegawa VF's are pretty reasonable. You can get an old VF-1 for about $20. The VF-0s will go for about $30. And you are correct about the 1/48th resin VF-1's. The Ultimate Detail 1/48ths go for $400-$500 and a Hobbyfan recast will cost you at least $300. But that Ultimate Detail VF-1 is a pretty amazing kit from what I understand (I've never actually seen one up close). Here is what the kit comes with And here it is completed
  7. This is the Macross SDF1 from the Japanese anime series "Macross" (I came to know it as Robotech, a series in the 1980's that largely bastardized the original series). The kit: This kit is the Yellow Submarine resin kit of the Macross SDF1 in cruiser mode. Actually it is a recast of that kit by a Japanese company called G-System. There were no decals and the kit needed a ton of clean up. I also had to pin lots of the parts because the weight of the kit was too much on several of the joints. I weathered it heavily with pastels and oil washes. I wanted to make sure it looked like it fell to e
  8. It recommend for a stand to invest a couple bucks into some clear acrylic rod from USPLASTICS.com. You can get alot from a little. Then get a large coffee can and a heat gun. Get some heavy gloves to protect your hands. Then heat the plastic evenly and as the rod becomes bendable... push it into the grooves in the coffee can. This will make a nice curved clear rod. Drill a hold in a wooden base and insert the clear acrylic rod. Drill some small holes and super glue two small diameter rods/pipes (size of nails) that stand upright in the end of the acrylic rod. Drill two similarly sized holes in
  9. Amen... when you consider the price of similar obscure resin kits, this one doesn't look so bad. I have been offered $500 for my SMT 1/48 resin AT-AT... and I'm not takin' it!!! Yes... I know I'm crazy, but it is a piece of art as far as I'm concerned.
  10. Looks great! Did the Black Box cockpit fit well with the Academy kit? I know it was meant for the Hasegawa.
  11. Both of the SMT Y-wings (Generation 1 and Generation 2) came in white resin. The Generation 2 molds were casted in a less shiny, higher quality resin. Looks like you have the Generation 2 kit. There is talk that Fine Molds may come out with a 1/72nd scale... this will be awhile off since they are busy with their MF. There is also talk that JMJModels will do a 1/48 Y-wing after the success of the tie bomber. Finally, there is a Studio Scale Y-wing that may be produced, but it is shrouded in secrecy... I'm guessing the master makers are negotiating a deal.
  12. Pete, Yours looks great. I really like the dio base too. I'm told I needed black in the IBA vest and in the MOLLE packs. Thanks for the heads up on Planet Figure.
  13. Looks great! I'm working on that one as well. I can't do PE to save my life, so my cockpit doesn't look as nice. I'm using the CMK pilots and gunner in mine. I've also scratchbuilt a fast rope bar like you have for the ceiling. Looks great! Mine is messy... first real scratchbuild thingy since I got back into the hobby.
  14. Primus does suck. It was either that or: Tommy the Cat... another one of my favorite Primus songs!
  15. I got this figure from Think 180 studios. It's my third attempt at a figure. It's coming along all right I think. Still can't get the face quite right. I would love any constructive criticism.
  16. Looks like the thread is down. I also think that the order book is filled up. I'm not certain. I passed on it due to price. It looks like an awesome kit, but $400+ shipping is a little rich for my blood.
  17. The answer is yes... and it is very pricey.
  18. IHAFT -- It Helps A Friggin' Ton. Seriously, I think I was applying it to thick to get it dark enough. I will try your method. Thanks.
  19. Someone suggested tinting one of my canopies with Tamiya smoke. Either airbrushing or dipping the canopy clouds the canopy. DO you have any suggestions?
  20. So excited to see some Macross-related banter over here on ARC. I'd recommend posting over at Macrossworld.com... there is an active forum community and a wealth of Macross related info. The model forum is very impressive too. I did a VF-4G kit awhile ago for starshipmodeler.com.
  21. I'm almost done with my Fine Molds Slave 1 (what a great kit)... and I was trying to accurize it to be the Slave 1 from Empire Strikes Back. I was closing the doors on the two panels on either side of the cockpit (where the upper guns come out)... and I really messed it up. I tried to rescribe the panel lines and I caused more damage than good. What I need is simple. I was hoping I could borrow these parts from someone here and then cast new pieces and then mail them back to you. I would pay for shipping of course, and throw in $5 for your trouble... does this sound ok? Thank you so much in
  22. Did you know that the original Battlestar Galactica was based on the Mormonism? Read This I really like the new series. It is the most mature Sci-fi I've seen in a long time. I'm glad they got a few "real" actors to help this series and give it some professionalism. The character development is getting better with each episode and there are soooo many interesting plot lines to develop. I will always be a Star Wars fan first and foremost. Call it a fairy tale if you want... I think it was some great sci-fi. The ships, the creatures, the vision of different worlds... I loved it. I even boug
  23. It's hard for me to say I like it when compared with the Fine Molds X-wing. The FM one is just sooo superior.
  24. Very nice! Impressive. The hyperdyne lighting kit looks good. I don't have it, but I almost feel you need it to really make the kit excellent.
