  1. thanks for posting the photo. I'm the weapons guy playing crew chief, hands on hip to remind the pilot hands out of cockpit. Its an AF photo. Reason I know we all have our shirts on and we we didn't do it as it was too hot. Bernie McKenna
  2. I just googled this and there are plenty of photos showing them open.Google is your friend. Bernie McKenna
  3. thanks for the info guys. Bernie
  4. Would like tom build an F-100 in either 1/48 or 1/32. Which is the better kit Monogram or Trumpeter(HobbyBoss??). How bad is the 1/32 Trumpter kit. Would like to getone done before my hands give out. Worked on the at Tuy Hoa and Phan Rang. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks Bernie McKenna
  5. found these in my photos they were given to me.
  6. screwed it up again, gotta stop replying after my bed time. Only MK82s on the ter. Could carry all the other type of bombs on the outboard pylons as far as I know but it seemed they were always Mk82's across. I could be wrong as to the what was carried on the outboards when the ters were loaded but it was over 50 years ago. Bernie
  7. we only loaded MK 82's on the ters either 2 on the shoulder stations or all 3 plus nap or cbu's M117's etc.I never saw any other type bombs on the ter. I was only at Phan Rang for 3 months the other 15 months I was at Tuy Hoa. I'm not saying other stuff wasn't carried on the ters but I never saw it. sorry it took so long to get back but had to put my wife in a nursing home and that used up all my time. Bernie
  8. There were no standard loads for the F-100. We loaded everything on it. I loaded them at Tuy Hoa and Phan Rang. Sanke and nap was not a standard load. We loaded MK-82,M-117,Napalm,CBU's,Rocket Pods, and mixed loads like 2 MK-82's and 2 M-117's. MK-82's and Napalm or M-117's and CBU's. At Phan Rang we carried ters also mostly MK-82's. You can load any of those type of bombs on the aircrat but they were always 2 or 4 iis 2 MK-82's and 2 Nalpale or like 4 MK-117's. It was a lot of fun loading the jet
  9. found these in a shoe box in the attic. They were given to me. Hope they help Bernie McKenna
  10. regardless of what is in his book it was impossible for him to have flown the F-4E at Korat.Simple reason is He PCS'd back to the states in Sept.67 and the first F-4E arrived at Korat on 7 Nov. 1968 and they flew their first mission on 20 Nov.1968. I'm not saying he didn't fly an F 4E in his career. He just wouldn't have done it in Vietnam. He was the commander of cadets at the AF Academy at the time. He never went back .It could be a misprint or so but the dates definingly make it impossible for him to have done it. And yes I read his book too. Bernie McKenna
  11. Col.Olds never flew the E model in Vietnam, He left in Sept.67 firsts E's arrived in Nov.68 at Korat. Bernie McKenna
  12. Just a refection of the camera head. When I was at Spang they had a hard red plastic cover when parked which was removed before engine start. Bernie
