  1. Thanks to everyone who replied. You guys are all great. Kevin
  2. Hi, I'm trying to find some 1/48 F-14 Jolly Roger decals. But when I search the internet I can't seem to find anything. So which companies make the decals you like the best? I'll check out suggestions to pick my favorite. I'm not looking to build any specific aircraft or time frame, just something I like. Thanks, Kevin
  3. B) Boy did I have an experience with this group build! This was my first Tomcat and I learned a ton to help me build my next Revellogram Tomcat. I had no end of mishaps with this kit. First I glued the kit to my workbench when too much "thin" super glue flowed out of the tube through the inside of the fuselage and glued the outside to the workbench without me noticing it. Then I realized I'd neglected to completely cut out the boarding steps, with the fuselage already glued together. After that I spilled paint on my workbench and it got "sucked up into my exhausts. It was nearly enough
  4. All I need the time for is to finish my weapons... but I could still use another month. I'm feeling a little rushed right now.
  5. what did you use? I use lead fishing weights. I drop them in and pour some super glue in to make sure they don't rattle around. Kevin
  6. Thanks, I just added the weight and put the nose on. Kevin
  7. Hi guys, since this is my first 1/48 Tomcat, I have no idea if they are tail sitters (like my F-16s). So do I need to add weight to the nose so it will sit properly? The instructions don't say anything, but then again the instructions for the last F-16 I built didn't say anything either (I ended up adding weight to the fuel tanks). Thanks.
  8. Thanks Guys! This build has been a horror for me. Not only with the fit problems, but also with my own "battle damage": a) Didn't finish cutting out the boarding steps before installing the cockpit. Too much gap filling super glue from the inside on one seam, seeped out the other side and glued the model to a piece of cardboard. Duh! c) Losing some of the tiny PE pieces for the cockpit. I'm at the point now that it's either just get it built or trash it. I'm going to finish it, and then start another to "do it right". So based on what I'm hearing, I'll probably just pick up another Rev
  9. I've finally gotten back to my Tomcat after letting it languish for most of the year so far. Hopefully I can finish it before the GB ends. I've been building the Revell F-14D (which I picked up at Michael's for about 1/2 price). This model has been a tough fight with fit problems galore: warping, intake seems... So my question is what kit takes the least amount of work to build out of the box? Kevin
  10. I seem to remember that using a dremel is "not recommended". Using the dremel will kick up a lot of fine resin dust, and the dust is dangerous to your health. (At least that's what I remember...) Kevin
  11. Wow, that looks really good. Now I need to get back to mine. It's ata bout the same stage (and has been for about a month...) Kevin
  12. 4 more... I still haven't finished #1! I got sidetracked working on a F-16A for my brothers birthday which is at the end of March. So I'll have 2 months to get mine past the cockpit stage. Kevin
  13. Not me, I love mine. I've got a rechargeable one (like Steve talks about in the Tools & Tips section of the web site) and it has two speeds: 5000 rpm and 10,000 rpm. It's great for working with plastic and soft metals, as it's DC powered and "rarely" melts anything. Kevin
  14. Thanks. When I got it, the shop didn't have any Tenex. But so far the Pro-Weld has worked fine. Kevin
  15. I read an earlier post about tenax, safety issues... I've just started to try Ambroid Pro-Weld instead of Testors liquid cement. So my big question is: Is there any difference between Pro-Weld and Tenax? Kevin
