  1. Available in Germany! Ordered mine today... πŸ™‚ https://www.ebay.de/itm/Tamiya-61118-1-48-Grumman-F-14D-Tomcat-Neu/392077494546?hash=item5b49a3c912:g:UxQAAOSwvBpbPa46
  2. Hello all Today I received the updated 1/48 scale Kfir. A first inspection makes me want to dive into it right away. Not sure if I will find the time though. The kit is simply beautiful. The only two upgrades I have in mind are a new seat and the Master pilot tube in brass. Decal wise I will step away from this kit since I want an early C-2 in either desert or air superiority camo and a relatively clean fighter/interceptor load out. Checking the web I did not find a lot of good pics of this period though. The late 70ties were way before the times of digi cams... 😞 The whole ki
  3. Tamiya F-14...then nothing for a while, then other Tamiya 48scale props, Corsair, Thunderbolt. The older Monogram jets I like a lot but the fit is mostly very bad.
  4. If AMK does NOT follow the general cockpit designs of even the "big" ones like Tamiya by starting with a tub but in stead mold the side walls and front and rear as seperate parts, all the nice little details that we love on resin cockpits can be easily molded in plastic as well. After all this will not be a beginners kit and the target customer group will not be the same as Monogram's in the 70ties (not age wise...but essentially the same guys, like me). We can cope with a more complex parts break down if it brings more details with it... cheers Uwe
  5. Very nice picture...makes your mouth watering for the kit!
  6. Ok..fine! So I'll buy a Tamiya -D in July and the AMK as soon as it becomes available. The question was never which one to get but which one first...:-)
  7. Looking at the new Eduard cockpit for the Tamiya bird it will be not an issue to get one made for AMK as well. Eduard is a drop fit into Tamiya. Now...Aires...well they will need to brush up their master making. As nice as they are, getting them fit is always a pain! cheers Uwe
  8. Wow...slide molds at it's best!
  9. Back to the topic... While the Tamiya -D is now (obviously) the No.1 on my shopping list that are still funds left! Do we have any sign of life from AMK other then a single test shot? I could even afford both at the same time...;-) cheers Uwe
  10. Could you please check with Tamiya if they could make that acrylic stand a product as well? I would like to have one or more for my Tomcats! What I see is mouth watering...now No.1 on my shopping list! cheers Uwe
  11. Not much to add here...the Tamiya bird is beautiful and the only "complaints" I have are very minimal. I would like to see seats with molded belts aka "Old Monogram", same for break lines. Lights in clear would also be nice (I know Quickboost has addressed those already). Wheels are simply better in Resin like Eduard ones... I think that's about it! Looking fwd to August but also to AMK, will simply get both of them, no big deal! cheers Uwe PS: Brian...please do a VF-1/VF-2 first cruise decals sheet with the Vietnam strafer birds...I have Darren's boat tail waiting
  12. ....with the F-4 as a very close 2nd! After ZM's attempt to do the untimate Phantom in 1/48 failed there is still a BIG room for Tamiya or AMK to fill that gap!
  13. That parts break down makes it poosible to easily do a very early -A with the boat tail. If AMK did that version they would have a winner since the Tamiya -A required cutting up the fuselage to get there...
  14. I will just wait for AMK and in the mean time buy a Tamiya -D πŸ™‚ Once AMK is ready I will ge that one as well... I have build Tamiya's -A and it was a wonderful project. But there is a lot of room for AMK to come up with extras the Tamiya main stream (but brilliant) kit does not have. cheers Uwe
  15. Intake Masks are are great idea! πŸ™‚
  16. Great...will get one for sure! Might even use (again) the kit decals, that VF-2 bird looks very good! Does anybody know if this particualar aircraft was one of the "all black" cockpit ones? thanks Uwe
  17. That VF-2 bird looks great! πŸ™‚
  18. Decals are really secondary...the market is full of them. I am much more keen on seeing the kit parts! ;-) cheers Uwe
  19. Thanks a lot for the update...very much looking fwd to it! It's a pity that the original fuselage of the -A that is nicely prepared for the -B and -D version did not include a seperate tail section...which means the mold would need to be altered siginificatly to incoperate a "boat tail" like the fist batch of Tomcats had it. So my guess is we will not see an early -A out of the box from Tamiya. Not a super big deal since there are nice resin bits available to achieve this but after the eye opening experinace with the already released -A (best fitting kit I have ever built) I would love to have
  20. Hello all Great threat... I am a big Phantom fan myself and have several in my stash. One is the Hasegawa F-4F JG-74 MΓΆlders boxing that I want to build just as this. Neuburg is not far away from me, I have been there several times and my parachute club is only 10min away. We have two former Phantom drivers as jump ship pilots in our club! Since the high speed tank was mentioned, I will obvioulsy need one for this build since it only has the first model one included. What's the best source to get one in 1/48? Do I really have to buy a Revell F-15 just to scrounge for the
  21. Do we have a date of when we can expect to see the first prototypes and sprue lay outs? cheers Uwe
  22. Quickboost now also has the tail with the ECM antenna as a seperate part! The have quite a few Tamiya Tomcat bits...I like the transparent lights a lot! cheers Uwe
  23. You're right...some very small and fixable lacks of details but a 100% correct shape and a shake and bake fit. Even the kit decals are top notch... :-) The price is really the only hold back from hording them ;-) cheers Uwe
