  1. That's close to home. I knew a guy who flew Intruders in Whidbey that came north to our local IPMS show. Haven't seen him lately but this posted reminded me of him. My condolences to the family and friends of 3 Prowler crewmen killed.
  2. That's great. I'd be in if it weren't for my current employment position. Well, really lack of it because I recently got laid off. I'm curious who you got in principle to consider it when you reach your $ goal?
  3. Dave, you just blew that guy's cover. He's in witness protection for outing foreign spies. On another note. Congrats to the green machines on landing Geroy Simon.
  4. That's what I'm thinking but maybe we should ask Ben Affleck since winning the Oscar for best film of 2012 he seems to be the Hollywood expert on the middle-east. He now wants to make a film about the Syrian situation. Argo  that film makes me laugh. So did I mistake it for being a comedy in my eyes?
  5. Is that Iran's only airworthy Tomcat?
  6. My condolences to you and your many models awaiting to be painted. RIP dear little blue compressor named Wally .
  7. 5,000 years from now, wars will be fought like in one from a Star Trek TOS episode where one side will fire a virtual weapon and the collateral damage will be calculated by a computer. Those unlucky to win the collateral damage lottery would have to goto the collateral damage facilities to bid adeu to the world. Ah yes, computers will solve all our problems.
  8. Gregg, The only reason why I might see others being offended is because their scared that young children would see it but isn't that what the childwatch software is for. IMHO some people are too sensitive about things. What you posted is just a cold hard fact reality of this world and none of that scripted reality on tv primetime. I once posted a thread asking about Israeli airforce inventory that can be used in an attack to foreign threats. A few kept replying they can't wait to see the thread locked and many others replied saying it was a legitimate question. Well, I never got a reply to m
  9. He does deserve a double post - I liked your youtube links. I thought we were the only two fans of his west of Ontario! With Stompin' Tom gone, I wonder who is entrusted with the rights to his music. Hopefully that person has some integrity that a Bieber type singer won't do a remake of 'The Hockey Song'. I see all these new singers/groups doing covers of iconic rock songs and ruinning it. Another of Stompin' Tom's is "The Ketchup Song" - ketchup loves potatoes. Every time I dig into some fries and ketchup, I think about that song. Thanks Stompin' Tom for some great tunes.
  10. Opps. I posted his passing too. Thanks for the youtube links of his songs.
  11. A great Canadian icon has passed away today. Folk singer/songwriter Stompin' Tom Connors best known for his "The Hockey Song". Link. He wrote songs about Canada and Canadian culture like "Bud the Spud" and "Sudbury Saturday Night". RIP. I just hope that the hockey song won't get ruined by Justin Bieber.
  12. They also flee from high taxes for countries with sweatshop wages and working conditions and lax regulations and civil liberty laws . As Britney Spears once sung, "Oops. I did it again.".
  13. Thanks another forum I need to be in. My model builds will now go even slower  .
  14. What an awesome venue for a model show! Thanks for sharing.
  15. I think they send it to you by mail but you have to make the beer from a beer making kit. Do they even still sell that homebrew kit from those latenite ads? No need to shut up just keep on building Phantom. I take my toque off to you, sir, for reaching 20-G's.
  16. So true. Soon they'll be back to they're bread and butter reporting on the Kardashians, Linsay Lohan, etc, etc. I also don't read their magazine cuz I'd rather spend the cash and time on a model build.
  17. I'm surprised that no has said the 1:1 scale F-35 JSF yet . Just kidding but I agree with Bigasshammm that 1/72 Chinese aircraft carrier. It is made of steel or some metal alloy and the shipping would just put it over the top $$$.
  18. As many other have mentioned this could turn into a religious/political discussion which would violate the sites rules and I will not go there. Like zackattack, I let my government know what I think of them via the ballot box and letters to my MP. I will just take the original post by modelerX as just an fyi but he could have just wrote that Hobby Lobby may close due to governmental business practice issues rather than just reposting the owner's letter. I just hope things work out so that Hobby Lobby and it's employees can continue on.
  19. Got it thanks to a fellow local modeller.
  20. Jay, Is that the new tooled 1/72 scale Airfix Folland Gnat T.1?
  21. It'd be very disappointing if that's it for Air Aces. I'll need to drop the cable packing with History channel because there's no other reason for me to keep that channel. I watched sixth episode on Francis "Gabby" Gabreski. Nice CGI's of the P-47 "Jug" and Fw190's. Like the other ones, it was informative with small facts not found in other refrences. Speaking of which, I cracked open my 56th fighter group squadron book to glimpse thru it again. I was very sadden when I watched that Ice Pilot episode . Before that I was really happy to see the episode where he returned and was looking much
  22. It's unfortunate that the article is presented but the reporting as representing one individual and losing the point it's trying to make. It should also focus on the many other ex-service personnel who are having difficulty, without assistance, transitioning from military to civilian life. It seems helping out those who are put into harms way means little. I've seen and met Afghanistan vets on the streets cause it's cheaper just to throw them under the carpet than to spend money helping them on PTSD and other ill effects of combat. It's ashame how vets are now treated and the lack of awareness
  23. Good for you Terry! That's right, eating right and excerise which could just be a 30 minute walk every evening after dinner will go a long way to a longer healthy life. Keep it up and don't forget to build a kit or two along the way.
