  1. That would be interesting. Hi Jake, how's it going? I'll keep stopping by if there's a chance that you might do the 493rd in 1/32nd scale. I've got the DACO sheet but would jump on an accurate alternative. The squadron insignia on the DACO sheet is n't correct for the jet I'd like to do. Cheers.
  2. Hi Chuck, superb progress on this big animal. As ever your work is flawless. I will follow how this panel line pre-shading works out with interest. Funnily enough the A-10 is possibly one of the few real world candidates where a dark pre-shade actually looks authentic in places. If you study many photos of A-10's you will notice several areas on the airframe, particularly on the forward fuselage flanks, where the panels appear pre-shaded. Personally I think I'd restrict pre-shading on a model to those areas but an overall coverage seems to be traditional/obligatory these days. Keep up th
  3. Hello again AC0 I've found the Citadel paint range to be very good whether brush or spray painted. Even the whizz can primers are lovely and smooth straight out of the can. One of the excellent properties of the Citadel range is they all mix well together. If I were to attempt the "Raptor sheen" I think I'd mix the metallic shades with the greys. I'd choose grey shades that looked the same as the cammo colours (in the old colours, Fortress grey was a good match for the light shade, Codex grey worked well for the darker shade) and add a tiny drop of a metallic colour before experimenting.
  4. You are welcome AC0. I'm not entirely sure but I believe Tamiya acrylics are not water soluble. I think they require a seperate solvent.(X-20A) I'm guessing that attempting to mix Tamiya with Citadel might end in a mess but I have n't tried it. Citadel and Valejo would mix as they are both soluble in water. HTH
  5. Hi AC0, Are Tamiya and Valejo paints compatible? I'd experiment with them before you try to paint your model. I've got a sneaking suspicion that they will be difficult to mix. The Citadel colours mix together beautifully although you'll need to buy the new colours as Boltgun metal has been replaced. (It's a similar shade with a different name.) Also, the pigment in the Citadel paint is very fine which gives that realistic looking smooth sheen when mixed with a grey base. The Valejo metallics have larger particles in the paint medium and may result in a "sparkly" effect. Nicely festive but
  6. Nice job Patrick. Add a couple of wheel chocks and a fire extinguisher to the first shots and they'd be even more convincing
  7. Hi Clif, I'm not sure how much help this will be but the Daco F-14 book has good photos of that area. Also, the 1/32nd scale resin pit by Aires is spot-on when compared to the book so you could copy that if you can find images. HTH
  8. Hi Chuck, great work as usual. The A-10 is the ideal modern jet candidate for salt weathering. Bill's links show that perfectly. The image in the first link shows exactly the effect your favourite technique gives. I say go with it! Furthermore, the A-10 is also one of the few aircraft where (imho) pre-shading is appropriate. Dude, have a ball and go to town on your favourite bit of the build. I'm looking forward to seeing a lovely dirty girl. Cheers. p.s. Don't forget those distinctive circular swirls where the RBF streamers blow in the breeze. ;)
  9. Very neat Jan. I look forward to seeing her in silver.
  10. Lovely work on the seats Jesse. That sheepskin cover effect looks da bomb.
  11. Magnificent Typhoon Marcel. Great job. The colour, details and weathering are perfect to my eyes. It may have been a bumpy road but I'm grateful to you for sharing this project and now that it's done I'm convinced that it was all worthwhile. Superb!
  12. That's two minutes of my life I won't get back..... <_<
  13. Neat shots dudes. Here are a couple more from me..... Constructive feedback always welcome, cheers.
  14. Wow! That took a long time to load. Nice BIG reference pictures. Super work Chuck, this is getting better and better. Any plans to tint the windshield? (Many reference photos of A-10s show the windscreen a tinted shade due to age.) That Squadron version is a huge improvement. Neat work dude.
  15. Beautiful work Marcel. This is one of the best renditions of a Eurofighter that I can remeber seeing. Superb, subtle and sympathetic weathering on an awesome paintjob. Just top notch stuff. Thanks for the links to those two cockpit shots. Those will be very useful and really show some excellent detail in the upper canopy decking. You must be on the home stretch by now....
  16. Good to know guys, many thanks for the help, much appreciated.
  17. Hi Marv, yeah, that's the stuff. I think that the AGE is all grey now but I'm not sure. If I can't find out for sure I'll stick with green. I've found a number of pics on the web that show the green colour. Thanks for stopping by. Cheers.
  18. Surreal images Rat. The last one looks like a PS colour splash image. Loving the contrasting textures. Cool "super moon" images guys. Dylan, those moonlit landscapes have an ethereal and eerie tranquility. Superb!
  19. Hi guys, can I beg a little help please? What colour is the modern GSE painted? I've just bought the 1/32nd scale Verlinden mobile lighting unit and would like to know how I paint it. The box top shows both yellow and green variants. A little research here on ARC suggests that these have been phased out so may not even be in whatever colour is current. If it has to be green then I can live with that but I thought I saw somewhere that the USAF is now painting their GSE in grey? I'll be using it behind my 1/32nd scale jets (Spangdelhem F-16 and Lakenheath F-15s) if that helps. I appreciate
  20. Hi Jannisary. Would "Easy Thumbs" by Fookes be of any use to you? I've used it regularly since John Wolstenholme suggested it and it works beautifully. Almost every image I post on the web is reduced to about 100kb but they still look respectable on my monitor (the resolution, not necessarily the content ) HTH
  21. Hi Dylan, I'm grateful for the thorough explanation of your technique, thankyou. I'm surprised that the shutter speed is as slow as 1/125th as I'd imagined you'd have to go higher. IMHO it's just about right. Anything higher and you'd stop the wings giving a very un-natural feel to the image. (like a prop aircraft in flight with the prop stopped). That's interesting. I've heard good things about Lightroom before so I might look into getting a copy. I was astonished by the ease at which PS Elements 5 helped me correct my photos. I gather Lightroom is even better? That's harsh. We can count in
