  1. Hey Dylan, Sorry to hear of your PB woes. Their "improvements" have taken things in the wrong direction for virtually everyone it seems. I have n't read any positive comments since they re-shaped the site. <_< Do you upload full sized images when you store them on PB? I've noticed that my account has a bar on the homepage showing the level of space I've used. Given where the current indication is I've got plenty of space left but I'm able to re-size the images before I upload them.(I stick to about 100k or 700pixels wide) If you need to store full sized (i.e large) files I can see i
  2. Great photos Chuck, thanks. What it shows is that the main part of the gun is not black but more a graphite grey. I'll try to remember that in future. Unfortunately, I'll be keeping all the gun doors closed on this model, sorry. ;) Hey Rob, great to hear from you and a very Happy Easter to you guys too. That link you provided will prove extremely useful in the future, much appreciated amigo. With r/l issues claiming much of my time just now I have n't been able to do as much modelling as I'd like (we all know how that feels <_< ) but, I have done a little something. The Tamiya kit pro
  3. You're very welcome coach. I'm sure you'll get a kick out of being here. There are plenty of knowledgable types in all the genres who are happy to answer queries so don't be shy if you're looking for the answer to a particular question.I hear you on the whole cost thing but as you say, what is n't expensive these days? If you have a look toward the bottom of the main menu you'll see the "Buy and sell" forum and shopping there can save a few bucks as well as helping fellow members out. If you're careful (or lucky), you can get some great deals. For uploading images you'll need to host your ph
  4. Brilliant feedback guys, cheers. Pete, I'll be sure to check "Wet Canvas" out, thanks.
  5. Hi Ian, you've chosen an attractive and eye-catching scheme. The cockpit and crew look great. Keep us posted.
  6. Hi Patrick, yes you are correct. Many of the LAU-128 launchers are light grey. I hope someone else will be able to tell you the correct FS. (I just pick a shade that looks right out of my paint selection ) .The ADU-552 is Gunship grey in most cases on the F-15E.
  7. Great photo references guys, thanks for adding them. Hi Chuck, you've highlighted something important in that statement. For me, the A-10 is one of only a handful of aircraft where I think the use of a panel wash is justified on a model. I'd even go so far as to say that pre-shading would look correct. Perhaps not over the entire airframe but certainly in select areas. Yay! Go for it. That means that by the time I get around to doing mine, you and Chris will have done all the hard work! :P  Happy Easter to you too. Cheers. Edit: What is it with all of the slash marks after th
  8. Hey Coach, welcome back to the hobby and welcome to ARC. If you've been away a while you'll no doubt be amazed by what is now available in 1/32nd scale. In the last few years more large scale aircraft models have been released than ever before. It is a golden time to be a large scale modeller. However, as you point out, not every kit that is released is dimensionally perfect. Some of this is the fault of any company in question (not always Trumpeter), some of it is down to us having higher expectations. If you wish to build a top notch model that fits beautifully and looks right then Tamiya
  9. Hi Patrick, lovely neat and tidy job so far. Possibly but in select areas. The undersides would be dirtier particularly at the rear aft of the gear bays and around the JFS exhaust. Not too much on the upper surfaces. It depends whether you wish to depict an accurate look or a more artistic approach.I agree with Galfa, imho a grey wash would look better. Keep it up this is looking mighty fine. Cheers.

  11. Bill, many thanks for your input. It sort of confirms my gut feeling as well but I thought I'd ask anyway. I'll try again in the art forum and see if I get any further response. Thanks for the suggestion, much appreciated. Cheers.
  12. Hi guys, My curiosity has got the better of me lately so I was wondering what style, type or subject in aviation art you all think has commercial appeal? What medium do you think is best? What style do you like to see and what do you all think sells best? I have my own thoughts on the matter but I'm interested to see what everyone else thinks. It goes without saying that there is no right or wrong answer in this discussion as there are probably as many different answers as there are members but it might be fascinating to see the results..... Cheers.
  13. Hi guys, just a quick update for now. I've been away for a couple of days so not much to show but I wanted to share an experiment I tried. Hi Ken thanks for the input and thanks also to 31Tiger and Danny for the tips. I will endeavour to follow these instructions to the letter to get the best from the decals. I attempted to order the newest version of the decals but they were out of stock so my set appear to be the middle ones. I do have some of your decal solutions Danny so I'll be sure to use them when the time comes. lol, sounds like a plan Chuck, cheers. I managed to get the main fuselag
  14. Hi Chuck, you certainly enjoy a challenge don't you? I've been away for a couple of days so it's a thrill to get back and spot this thread. I'll be taking copious notes along the way because I have an A-10 in the stash that I hope to get to one day. I'm not sure whether to be discouraged or inspired by your findings so far but I'll tag along for the ride. If anyone can beat this kit into submission, it's you. Cheers.
  15. Hi Rick, welcome aboard. I enjoyed reading your account of the build. I was lucky enough to build the Gnat last year during a holiday and had a similar experience. It proved to be a pleasure to build. Your Gnat looks fabulous in the silver/dayglo scheme and makes a terrific addition to your dayglo family. I can't offer and constructive criticism (the reason for this particular forum) but if anything, the orange looks very red on my monitor but perhaps it has to do with the blue background. Thanks for taking the time to share your build. Cheers.
  16. Hi dylan, Sorry to hear that you've had a bad experience. If you decide not to submit any more of your photos to these sites then it may be their loss. I have enjoyed many of the images that you've shared here so thank you for that. I am not a photographer so I can't comment on sharpness or blur. The shots all look good on my monitor. Moose does some beautiful work and he is far more qualified to help out on that part. However, from an un-professional "bloke in the street perspective", I think the last shot is the best. I know it's the rear of the aircraft and not a popular viewpoint for sp
  17. That is a beautiful model, well done. I think that is the first one that I've seen using Zactomodels early tail stinger. It looks very good. I had to look twice at the photo that you posted of the intake area. It is very realistic Thank you for sharing your big Su-27 with us. Cheers.
  18. A significant improvement over the standard kit parts John. As usual, beautifully sharp and crisp work. Great stuff.
  19. Hi Ashley, You might get closer to where you need to be by combining the Tamiya "-E" forward fuselage with their "-C" rear fuselage. You'll need to scratch build a rear cockpit and use the "-C" front cockpit but at least the main fuselage would look ok plus you'd have the flush maingear doors etc. If you have a look >> here << you'll see that johncrow is building something similar in the "Yes, size does matter" group build. 20. Hi Les, Perhaps the best images to search for are in-flight shots rather than walkarounds. The in-flight photos often have views of the top and underside of the airframes. Click this link for a Google search: >> link << Generally, the jet nozzles are bare metal, the feathers that are just in front of the engine donut are also bare metal. On the upper surface, the panels just in front of the feathers are bare metal as are the adjacent panels in board of the vertical tails. This bare metal stops at the end of the vertical tails so that the pointed tip of eack tail boom is painte
  21. Jeepers, what a nightmare! Yeah, drop it like a hot rock Don, life's too short bro'. Build something that does n't fight back and come back to this one at a (much) later date. Cheers.
  22. Hi JP, the blue looks like a good match on my monitor and the stripes look plenty even enough. Good job. You could always spray on a couple of thin coats of future at the end if you felt it was necessary. Personally I tend to agree with you. I've never been able to see the demarcation between gloss and matt. It's a real treat to see a big Eagle in Air superiority blue and a definite inspiration. I can't help imagining a -C backdated to a -A. Keep at it. Cheers.
  23. Thanks Craig, glad you like it. Unfortunately I re-sized the image prior to posting it here so that's the full size. Cheers.
  24. Turned out nicely. Great job on a great scheme. Cheers.
