  1. Hi Craig, I think you're being a bit hard on yourself. "The Enchantress" looks superb on my monitor. I can't be sure but this might be the first Tamiya Mustang I've seen with a pilot aboard and it looks great. You've done a grand job on the little dude, he sure looks happy to be aboard his P-51. I hope you don't mnd but I was mucking about in PS and had a play with one of your images: Thanks for taking the time to share your build. Cheers.
  2. Thanks Chuck. I'll drop you a quick PM I like the sound of that. Imagine building it with the light grey cockpit equipped with modern instrumentation often used in restored birds. That would be very cool not to mention unique. I think Wolf's building a WNW bird just now so his Spitfire is on hold at the moment. Unless he picks up the reins on that one again before June you should have the stage all to yourself. I'd also like to see that Spitfire one with my own eyes. Cheers.
  3. She's a beauty Chuck. Congratulations on finishing this extreme project. There are so many neat touches. I love the rear view mirror. The red paint and chipping make that tiny detail such a gem. You might need to glue the ailerons in place though, those last couple of shots show them both drooped I know this has been a challenge at times and I'm sure you're glad to be on to your next project but I have a few thoughts on one or two things. Since this model is now complete I won't share them here but let me know if you'd like a little feedback buddy. :) Thanks for taking the time to share yo
  4. I'm itching to see the glamour shots. Can't wait!
  5. The Ferrari is a beautiful machine. Definately where some of my lottery win would go if I was ever that lucky. That's a pretty car too. Puts me in mind of the Jaguar XF. I hope it's a big success for Tesla.
  6. Neat cammo but are we sure that it is n't some of Fred Shammas's work......?
  7. Hi Ken, Glad this one popped back up as I missed it the first time round. Lovely looking Eagle. Good job.
  8. Hello everyone. Alexander, John, I appreciate all of the kind words, cheers guys. It does seem a bit of a shame to keep the gun doors closed but it would n't fit in with the pose I've got in mind for this jet, sorry. I have to confess that I'm not a big fan of open panels on models as it can be difficult to make them look realistic and it breaks up the lines of the airframe.HOLMESY, no need to apologise for posting a comment of any kind. I appreciate the input, cheers That's what gave me the idea Marcel. I wish I'd done that on my first "-E". I remembered to do it on the second one but d
  9. Wow! I've just been back and re-read your WIP Jesse and I'm blown away. Superb attention to detail bro'. This is set to be a bench mark build. So many extreme details included in your thread that there's too much to mention but I would just say I'm diggin' that Maverick lens. Very cool stuff. Glad I caught up with your progress. Thanks for taking the time to share your build and putting in so much effort to make it easy to look at. Your photography is equally as good as your modelling.
  10. Hi Chuck, I like the oil stain on the right fuselage side. I think it looks very convincing. Another medium that you might experiment with on future builds is acrylic/water colour pencils. I recently played around with them on a small scale Harrier and was pleasantly surprised by the results. They can be manipulated with a damp paintbrush and easily removed if things get away from you. What I liked was the way the colour could be pushed around almost like pastel dust. I got some neat streaking using that technique so you might enjoy another "arrow in your quiver" when it comes to your favour
  11. Next up it was time to tackle the JFS exhaust chimney on the upper rear fuselage before I could close up the two halves. If you're building a "-C" you might wish to replace the six small chimneys with a single, larger one. I filled the left over Strike Eagle chimneys then studied the photos in the Modern Eagle guide and carefully drilled out the new chimney before fitting in some mesh. It was only when I was looking at images of the airframe that I'm hoping to build that I noticed a slight issue. The chimney on my bird was in a different place...... After filling the first chimney I
  12. Anders, it's a real gem and will be beautiful in your hands. One of the better things about the kit is it does n't actually need that much in the way of aftermarket so It can be a simple, quick and enjoyable build. Let us all see how you get on with it when you begin please. Hi Richard, good to see you. Thanks for stopping by and your encouragement is much appreciated, cheers.I'm not getting as much time on this build as I'd like unfortunately so progress is only moderate I'm afraid. Here are a few little things I've been working on lately. First up, I looked at the side walls of the rearmo
  13. Hi Chris, that finessed fan face looks much better. Nice job. Is it my imagination or are these new intakes completely seamless......? :o
  14. Dude! That canopy is too clear! Now you've got to re-introduce all of the micro scratches seen on the real jets..... Seriously though, very neat work and great video. I look forward to more in the series. Cheers.
  15. Hi Rob, I agree with toadwbg on this and if you have a look at the real deal you'll see that the full sized airframe also has a combination of raised and recessed panel lines. Those on the beaver tail are predominantly raised except for access panels, those around the nose where there are many access panels are mostly recessed, just as Tamiya has depicted. It's de rigueur to re-scribe models at the moment because panel line washes are popular. It is n't however, necessarily accurate in all cases. Hi Aggressor01, great to see another Tomcat on the go. Good luck with your project and enjoy this
  16. Hi Mike, I'd agree with OBD. I might go with the lightest shade to replicate aluminium but they do brush paint beautifully over their own Chaos Black spray primer
  17. I'm intrigued to see where this leads. I like the eroded effect on certain areas as it looks convincing. I'm wondering why you began this kind of work before decalling though? Won't you have to back-track a little and redo some areas once the decals are applied? Man! this thing will come alive with the oil streaks, exhaust staining and other grime that's to follow. Keep at it, she's looking mighty fine.
  18. Hi Anders, glad you got here, good to see you. I hope you enjoy the build as it goes along too. Anything new in your neck of the woods? Hi Ken, hmmm,...thanks for the heads-up. That's not the first time I've heard that so I'm a bit concerned over how these decals will behave. I ordered a set of the second edition which were available on the website but obviously Danny had n't updated the site in a while as he discovered he had no stock and sent me a first edition set instead hoping that it would be ok. Time will tell  Ken, how did you manage to get the decals to play ball in the end?
  19. Hey Ross, sorry to hear that you're having problems with PB but if it makes you feel any better, you're not alone. If you check out their forums or FAQs you'll see hundreds if not housands of unhappy campers sharing your misfortune. Whilst the new site looks slick, in my experience it is the opposite. I'm also using IE as a browser and this is where the problem lies. I hope using Chrome or FireFox cures your issues. Until they manage to get their operation running smoothly again, I'm using an alternative as PhotoBucket is completely unusable on my machine. :(
  20. Thanks or adding the shots Pete. These will come in very handy. I hope to start a little work on the main gear bay sidewalls soon so I can use these as a reference.
  21. I'm looking forward to see how you deal with that gaping chasm  The auxiliary door mods look good.
  22. Ooh!...nice  I'm not sure I've seen one of these being built so I hope you are able to take plenty of progress pics along the way. I'd like to see how this one comes together.
