I would say it went to the boat with the nose art on the jet. 😉
Thank you very much!

Well that's out of the blue!

Just wondering if F-14A (161621) deploy to the USS Carl Vinson with that nose art on the jet? Or was it removed before they went on the boat?

I don't remember any AGE being OD except for some touch ups. It was a darker olive color.

Hi Craig,
What's the shelf life of Alclads once opened? I've never tried them out, but OP stated he had tiny fractures on his Alclad.
Cheers,
Gwen
Gwen I have bottle of Alclad that are over 10 years old and while I can't guarantee every bottle will last that long, as long as you keep your bottles tightly sealed they will last a long time. I do like there metallics but not a big fan of some of there other products.

Is that aircraft painted silver or is it a bare metal finish? It looks too uniform to be a bare metal aircraft. If its painted I would go with Tamiya LP-11, if its bare metal I would go with Alclad over Gunze GX-2 gloss black.

Not super uncommon. they could have been in a transfer from one unit to the next, Usually the losing unit will remove any distinctive markings. Or they just got back from the depot and was repainted. The tail codes and squadron badges are usually applied at the unit level. They will probably put them one the next time it goes in the hangar.

Notice the upside down national insignia on wing. Doh! (…judges minds explode…)
Had that happen a few times on our Hogs coming back from depot.

I'm sorry if I missed it, but has there been a price established for this kit yet?

They didn't last long as they cause a lot of sheet metal cracking. I think ours stayed on less than 6 months if not less.

If you look at "Some" of MRP's paint labels it will give the color then have (FADED) in parenthesis next to it. i.e. MiG-29 Grey-Green (FADED) ya got to look at each color description.

Don't know about if it flew in or not. But most like ly it was never operationally flown. The reason I say that is that no 77 models were updated with LASTE or any of the other mods that were applied to the newer jets. In our unit we did the same thing with our two 77 models, one we made BDR trainer and the other was a load crew/ICT trainer.

I think the guys that repair the surface of these type of fastener on the Stealth acft are called "Martians" Some type of acronym for Material repair technicians.

I always found the MiG-23 intriguing. My particular favorite is the MLD variant with all the C/L launchers on the top of the fuselage and the more ogival nose cone. Also one of the traits of the "lightweight Flogger" is the sit of the A/C as in the aircraft sits more level on its gear whereas the earlier versions have a more "tail low/nose high" attitude. I have read that the MK versions have longer MLG strut causing the tail to sit higher, but I have never had the opportunity to measure the two different versions. If either Clearprop or ICM gets that "stance" correct I'll buy one in both scales!

Ok Gang, I want to do "Miss Molly" from VF-111 using the existing Tamiya kit mainly because my shelf space is a little limited so I will do it with the wings swept. From what I understand the Tamiya kit is a block 95 or so with the pitot tube on the nose but doesn't have all the appropriate bumps and such.
So what do I have to change/add etc. to get to a block 126?
Thanks in advance

It will probably be like when the USAF released a purposely distorted photo of the F-117 and Hasegawa came out with a kit that looked like the photo. The real A/C ... not so much! 🙂

Well,,,,if you count the fake canopy its three tone!!!!.....🐒

IMHO The ZM LG attachments both main and nose are the best engineered out there in 48th F-4's Very positive mounting. I have yet to see the Tamiya kit though.

My LHS got them in yesterday.

Pardon my Eagle ignorance but isn't the E model and later marks have thicker wheels and brakes than the C/D 's? That's why they have the bulged MLG doors on the newer two holers.

I do a section of the model at a time. I actually do it upstairs on the kitchen table so I can have the TV on for some background noise. When I get a little tired/frustrated I get up and leave the table for a while. It will take me several sessions but I think a full set of stencils does make the model "pop" a bit. Just use Qtips and tissue paper and make sure the decals is fully down on the surface use a good solvent to insure that they fit over the details. Keep a eye out if you accidentally dislodge a decal that you put it back in position.

I go there whenever I visit my Aunt and Uncle. Awesome shop!
Can you build armed Aggressor F-16s
in Jet Modeling
Posted
The F-16's in the Aggressor role at Eielson AFB in Alaska are fully combat capable. They just don't have a combat mission. However the other Fighter squadron at Eielson is deployed and the aggressor squadron has taken over the armed intercept mission. Probably not the whole squadron but a detachment.
