  1. Hog-up is still active, but it is really an interim measure until they build new wings. I have never heard of PUP?????
  2. That sounds about perfect!! If you can make one mav an IIR version and one a EO guided version then you have a very typical hog loadout!
  3. Sounds pretty good, although I would only use one Mav on both stations as the LAU-117 was used pretty much exclusisely in that time period. If you can put 7 shot RKT pods on 2 and 10 and go with free fall bombs on 4 & 8 althoug I guess you could go with 4,5,7&8 if you wanted a big loadout. but from what I remember they were long flights and Mavs and 30mm were the weapons of choice. Also pu 2 AIM-9's on station 11. yes they would be LASTE by then. HTH
  4. That won't matter, if your not cleared to take pictures, your not taking pictures.
  5. Ok. Station 1=MT Station 11=DRA w/2 LAU-105's Stations 2&10 LAU-131 7 shot Rkt pod Station 3 = MT Station 9 ++ LITENING pod Station 4 & 6 = GBU-12 Station 8= Mk-82 w/(I think) M-907 fuze (Radar daisy cutter) Staions 5 & 7 = MT Only A-10C's can carry GPS guided munitions and they are not in theater...yet!
  6. There was a minor paintscheme change in the mid 80's as I recall. As delivered from the factory the nose of the A/C was Euro 1 dak green. It was then changed to euro 1 dk grey. If you look at Hitch's pic you can see that it has the "newer" Euro 1 scheme. As far as the National insignia is concerned allow me to post a shot of myself and LtCol Ron Henry, who was the 1st pilot to fly 4000 hrs in the hog. If you look at the upper right of the pic you can see a portion of the national insignia, note that it is the solid black variety. We had our jets painted at McClelland (sp) AFB at the depot the
  7. Sir, that may have been the standard for the 23rd TFW, but it wasn't the standard for all. Our jets maintained the solid nat insig all the way up to the Ghost Grey Scheme. I will have a phot to later on.
  8. Sir, if you PM me I can send you a CD of pics I have taken for another Board member thats nothing but details. Also if you have something specific in mine just give me a shout. I am around the stinking things all day
  9. Patience my young Jedi, I would bet the farm that they do a Tbird jet next. Which is a P&W powered A/C
  10. We had several of the Ft Smith guys up here in Baltimore getting some hands on training. They were telling me that there folks were looking at various places on the airframe to put the Razorback art work on. But the tail was eliminated because your not supposed to put any extra paint on the rudders for W&B issues so the nose seemed to be the best place to go.
  11. I have seen one, at all places Nellis AFB,NV
  12. We had Grey Guidance and tail assy's on all the GBU-12's we had at DM in July 2005.
  13. Here's my favorite... for purely personal reasons!!!!
  14. I find it interesting that they have live ordanance at a public display.
  15. I was just wondeing. How is this book? Doesn't seen so pricey. Just a wonderin
  16. Good catch I was looking for the gun muzzle at the right wing root, but seeings its a test bird there is a chance that the muzzle was faired over. If there is a higher res shot you may be able to tell by looking for the panel lines where the retractable ladder, etc are on the L/H fuselage side.
  17. Looking for info regarding F-16CG 88-0550. This was the jet that had the big eagles head on the vert fin. Also it was shotdown during OAF. I was wondering if at that time did it have all 10 "scab" plates?? Also any types of loadouts? I am think of a slant 4 config with GBU-12's. Also were AIM-120C's in squadron service then? Any all info regarding this particular jet you could send me I would appreciate!! This will be my subject for the new Tamiya Viper. Thanks in advance!!! 18. Yep this is happening, it's in testing now I don't know for sure when the carry tests are happening but it is coming. Also I know a newer version of the HF will also go on the Hog. I think the HF is a great weapon when a Mav is overkill.
  19. Yeah the rkt pods are next to impossible to find in 1/48th scale. As far as the ECM pods go the 131 is kinda short and boxy whereas the 184 is long and tubular. I am sure if you do a google image search for those pods you will be able to see the difference. As far as the targeting pods go the Litening is a bit fatter and the cooling scoop is sloped on the LANTIRN whereas the Litening pod is straight. I really reccomend the update set but I can send you some detailed photos of the LASTE and EGI (two big mods since that kit came out) if you can give me a few days and your e-mail address. Work h
  20. Get the Shawn Hull A-10 update set. I think he is moving right now but check his website www.shull24.com to see for sure. I cant think off the top of my head on who to get a twin AIM-9 launcher in 48th scale. As far as loadouts. Station 1 ECM pod AN/ALQ-184 or -131 Station 2 & 10 LAU-131 7 shot rkt pod, one with WP and the other HE Station 3 LAU-117 and a AGM-65D Station 4&8 one with a MK-82 and one with a GBU-12 Station 5&7 either empty or an MK-82 on each Station 6 MT Station 9 Litening II TGP Station 11 DRA w/2 AIM-9l/m
  21. It's a SUU-25 Flare pod, or as we call it a "Code 3 Pod" The pop out LUU-1 and 2 flares out the rear, they always seem to hang at least one, especially on a friday night!!! when you have to wait for ever for them to safe it up!! HTH
  22. Got this link from John Chung over at HS. Click here for detailed sprue shots of the new Tamiya Viper I want mine now!!!!
  23. I am no F-16 expert, but I think a new HUD and the scab plates, TGP's you want and that would be it! at least from a modellers perspective.
