  1. As part of BRAC we just took possesion of 2 former Barnes jets. They will live on, but in different colors.
  2. I think it is a MXU-648 travel pod. Converted from a napalm bomb. The A-37 tanks were bigger. As Murph said, they get pretty dirty on the bottom, from sitting in cradles at the tank farm and from sitting on a tank dolly, and from rain, dirt and stuff collecting on the bottom.
  3. Give that man a cigar!!!! Its the ILS antenna radome and the change happened aroung 1991 although you will see several without the black radome after that time. HTH
  4. Well Neu if you need marking references let me know!!! ;)
  5. Boy Howdy!!! It's got a couple of great shots of a certain hog that I am very fond of!!! :D
  6. You can't upload directly here anymore. Open an account at www.photobucket.com and upload them there. Then using the image icon in the posting box copy the URL from your shot @ photobucket and, viola!! your pics will show!
  7. If you notice in their blurb they mention an F-4S, So a slatted "E" is probably what they'll do. Although I want a Thunderbird F-4E!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  8. Well the A-10 uses the same motor as the S-3 and its nickname is "Hoover" so.....................
  9. Lets get them in widespread service first, then the mainstream folks will notice them and perhaps make them. Right now theyr'e a little few and far between on operational birds.
  10. It was to be the A-10B Night Adverse weather attack A/C. it took the AF a long time but all the capabilities of the "B" model were incorporated in the "A" model and now refined in the "C" model. I am pretty sure that only ONE was ever built and it now sits at Edwards for their museum. HTH
  11. As Ken said there is no difference between a A-10 or an OA-10. No extra radios were added. As ken stated when the A-10 community took over the FAC role in the early-mid 90's they were able to get some different fundings for OA-10's. Even if an A/C is officially designated by serial # that it is an OA-10 it can perform either mission.
  12. Yes the A-10 can carry the GBU-10 & 12. Operationally we usually just carry the 12. P.S. We carried GBU-10 & 12's even before we could self designate. we had someone else "buddy-lase" for us. Although we only did that in training.
  13. Well the A-10 doesn't use MER's. There are some publicity shots with some preproduction jets with MERS but I have worked on A-10's for 27 years and I have never seen one carried. Just do a google image search for a TER-9A thats what we use.
  14. All I know is it's Febuary 2nd and I haven't gotten my "kits in the mail" email from HLJ!!! I want it now!!!
  15. Thats Great!!! It's always Pi@#ed me off to no end that they "played down" those kills. That A/C carried kill marks for what one hour before some jerk said they had to come off !!!! I mean that was the first triple kill in how long..... Grr...... I am stilled P.O.'d that it hasn't carried its kills this long I am glad someone in USAFE finally grew a pair! Boomer out!!
  16. Well you know they're going to "Milk the molds" for as many different boxings as they can!
  17. Looking at the shots from the Nuremburg show I looks like Tamiya "fixed" the vertical tail by adding the IFR light and the small scoop on the leading edge. Look at this Sprue shot Looking at the other sprue shots (Thanks again Don!!!! ) This looks like one Killer kit!!! I will be buying several.
  18. Just looking at the photos at Nuremburg (Thanks Don!!!! ) The kit looks pretty good! The windshielld is definely fixed. I will probably still use ShawnHulls update set for EGI and LASTE. The weapons look weak and the drop tank looks a tad slender. But I like the way they molded the engine pods. the ladder is correct for a mid 80's and up hog. Looking forward to seeingthe actual plastic.
  19. I have seen them on quite few USAF Phantoms, usually two. Just what I have seen certainly not gospel.
  20. Hey Jake did you shoot 704? I know it wasn't part of the red flag but we have it on loan to the 422nd for the C model tetsing. P.S. Put me down for one of those CD'S!
  21. You could get away with 6 AGM-65A/B's on Lau-88's on 3 & 9 ( probably would be 4 on a "slant 2" config in real life) also a AN/ALQ-119 on station 1 or 11 and if its after 1985 or so 2 AIM-9's on 11 and the ECM pod on 1. Also I would think parent mounted Mk-20's on 4,5,7,8 would look good and be probable.
  22. I am very suprised that the DoD Open House at Andrews AFB isn't on that list!
  23. For awhile during the early 80's we were having the pilots leave them down, after he shutdown. since then unless we have to do some maint in the area we ask theto retract them right before shutdown. Is it unusal, yes, unheard of, no. HTH Craig
  24. When they're brand new they are a kind of brassy colored look to them, but that doesn't last long and soon they are colored in solid film lubricant which is a dk gray color similar to gunship grey IMHO.
  25. Yes that and the WCMD are in active testing right now, there are some other things under wings that will probably be carried by the cyber-hog but until I hear differently I'll defer namin them.
