  1. Well,,, Yeah!! and when you have a bunch of T.O.'s (Job Guides dont do the trick) you have a mini step ladder!!!
  2. Usually that type of warning is in the Technical Order, Job Guide, NavAir or whatever the services call there applicable maintainence manuals. Usually its in bold letters!! HTH Craig
  3. Hi All I was at Nellis for the last month working on the A-10C Test program and of course I had to go to the threat museum!!! Any ways they have added a couple of weapons to the Fulcrum on display so I took some shots for us modellers. Hope you like them. First is the R-73 mounted on the MiG-29 Next is the front of the missile I found the small mass balances very interesting. Now the rear showing the thrust vectoring mechanism. I geuss the red thing are to prevent the "ailerons" from drooping? Now a overall shot of an R-27 (AA-10) I found it interesting that the fins are unpainted me
  4. Nope, Although they did do a william tell a while ago. The Old Gunsmoke put on heck of a drain on a squadrons budget, A/C utilzation (inspection flow, time changes, etc). When I did it in 1985 and 1991 it was a real circus, but I was never more proud when we won the overall top team in 1991. On a side bar it was funny how the USAF changed the rules when a ANG A-10 won the competition ;) To be honest with todays Op's Tempo and limited budget I don't see many competitions in the near future, jusy my 2 cents worth. Craig
  5. More Pic's!!! I will probably be Crewing 704 when I go to Nellis Next week or whatever they want me to do!! I will be working for a AD duty AMU with a ANG Chief (Mich) and a ANG SPO and Maint Officer (MD) Who knows what will happen I know the AD kids will probably have a heart attack when they see Myself and my buddy (who is close to retirement), both E-7's crewin jets!!
  6. Well I wish I was there, but I sent my jet instead! I am sorry it was so dirty, but a dirty hog is a flying hog, and she has been a Flying hog this past month!!! Take care Rip and Go Beav, Murph, Fins and Metro!!!! (My squadrons competitors) Craig
  7. I got a kick out of reading this thread!!! One reason I think a lot of people like the turkey is the myriad of color schemes that it has worn. Its kinda like the Bf-109 for the WWII guys it has a certain "Something" about it!! I really think the F-15 is a better fighter but (No offense Murph) its a boring looking jet. While the Tomcat has personality oozing out of it,, and usually a bunch of hydraulic fluid also! Well thats my 2 cents in this discussion, I think its just one of those "classics" of the modern era for various reasons and people like to model it! I know I do. I am just glad I

    A-10C

I will let you know in a few weeks. I will be TDY to Nellis for a month to crew the jets in the "C" model test program. One way you can telll, is if its carrying a Litening or a Sniper pod it will be mounted on station 10 rather than Station 9. This allows us our othe Maverick capable station back. I understand there is another antenna biut I am not sure on that (But I will be shortly!! <_< )
  10. Works Great!! Boy does that jet have a distintive sound or what!!!
  11. I am no Intruder expert but it sure looks like a RAT (Ram Air Turbine). I wonder why it is deployed??? Craig
  12. Does anyone have a spare instrument panel from a 1/48th Scale Hasegawa AV-8B? My son decided to do a woodworking project on Dad's workbench and my IP Is in never never land B) So if any one has one I will be glad to pay for it. thanks a bunch guys!!! Craig
  13. Hey I was there in Gunsmoke 85!! Do you have any other shots from the other competition jets????
  14. Well yep he's working on a DRA, I hope someone is doing a LAU-131 pod. Dave Roof is doing the LAU-117 rails and I haven't seen a COMET pod on a operational hog yet ( They may be out there but I haven't seen one) The ALQ-131 is availble in a Hasegawa weapons set?? And the L2 Pod is in the Hasegawa Harrier II kit. At least there going to be availible!!!
  15. Hi All I was able to help out Shawn Hull wih some detail shots of the A-10. I just recieved a preview kit of the update set. Here it is, sorry about the photo but white resin doesn't photograph well :) Most of all the antennas have been cast, all the radar altimeters all the radio and IFF antennas, the total tempature probe and the Data Transfer unit and the mount. There are still some peices being made and cast, Shawn tells me that the set should be ready very shortly, His site is http://www.shull24.com/ Hope you enjoy it. Craig

Looks like a standard seat to me with a 36231 body and a flat black chute container. Just like we have on our A-10's

  20. Well The title kida somes it up :D . As I understand it the newer "c" models come with the turkey Featherless exhausts. Am I correct??? I certainly appriciate any info!! OOPPPSSSSS in 1/48th Scale!! <_<
  21. What we really need is Hasegawa to release an updated version of there 48th scale a2a missile set with a crapload of slammers and AIM-9L's and X's!!
  22. Well, It sure ain't the late model Flogger I was hoping for!! And , yes it does look like the ESCI kit. IMHO
  23. For Craig, I'm not sure how other airplanes are set up, but at least for the Hornet the pilot can specify a desired quantity of bombs to be released as well as the number to come off at once (quantity/multiple). For a Legacy Hornet, the most that could be salvoed simultaneously is 5, one from each air-to-ground capable station. If VERs or CVERs are loaded, the quantity can be up to 10, but the multiple still must be 5 or less. So a pair is Q2/M2. But a ripple of 2 (Q2/M1) still releases 2 bombs, but at an interval that is determined by the pilot (within the limits of the racks and armamen
