I absolutely love it, I have one on finals now, and its been an absolute joy to build, it may be a little testing to some, but nothing a little patience can't cure. I will definitely be doing more of these. I managed (somehow) to get the Victory Productions decal sheet for 6 very nice A-7Es. I can't recommend it enough Joel

Ade, The Sidewinders would probably be AIM-9Js, similar to the kit ones,-9Es, but with larger forward fins, similar to the-9L but squared off at the end. I think Cutting Edge do a set of AIM-9J/N/P in 1/32. HTH, Joel

To be honest Duke, I only noticed the position of the rockeyes last night! Also, notice that Showtime106 (plate 7), and Showtime 111 (plate 9) has the TARCAP loadout for AIM-7s, 4, as opposed to flak suppression, DLI or strike, 2. I'm wondering if Duke or Willie might have been refering to the flights load out,i.e, the total number of bombs and Sidewinders, as opposed to their own setup. Joel

Hi, I know for a fact Showtime 100 carried for sidewinders, (probably -9Gs or H's), as 3 of these were used to bring down the MiGs. Navy Phantoms rarely carried wing tanks, especially going over the beach. From what I have read, the mission that day was to provide defence suppression, hence the rockeyes. I always assumed it was 6, but 4 could have been carried as well. I thought the outboard pylons were empty, but the profile in the Osprey book Mig killers 1972-73 clearly shows 4 on them. Most of the stuff I've read concentrates on the A-A side of the mission. Try these though- Take Off iss

The Matchbox F.22/24 has been released by Revell, I know you all know this!, but I'm getting one, very far away from my usual subjects but the kit holds a special place in my heart. My Dad made the original Matchbox release, and he did a great job of it. I never thought I could get one to do myself, but Revell has come to my rescue. I just hope I do do it as well as Dad did all those years ago. Be nice if some one did a Griff Spit in 1/24 Joel

Golden ones, perhaps? Joel

Hunters pf VFA-201 Go Bye-Bye Today

I really like how the Phantoms had their noses painted, very striking, kinda like VF-21 and VF-213 had their phantoms painted but far bolder. Joel -
Wow! It's Sunday morning, I've lost an hours sleep due to the clocks going forward, I've a snorting cold. What could brighten my day, my favourite website. What do I find? The old Tomcat vs Superhornet squabble. Two aircraft I am building right now, enjoying each step, not even thinking about real world stuff like :- The Tomcat is retired The Superhornet will be OOD in 10 years The SH is too slow, the F-14 is too fast and so on. Should this thread effect my feelings on these two great aircraft? Absolutely not. Phantoms, Intruders Corsairs and Skyhawks are still being built at my house, wh

Merlin, my local Hobby Guy says the next couple of weeks, should be about £26.99. Got mine ordered, the first of the many! Joel -
What did you get at the Hobby Shop today?
Bandwagon 106 replied to Matt Shropshire's topic in General Discussion
Some glue and filler(Plasto) and, tomorrow, my Tamiya F-16C 1/32 oh baby, I love this kit. Ordered the 1/48 one as well. Might this be the year of the Viper?.... Joel -
I'm positive I didn't pay that much for mine when it came out in 2003. It is a very good kit though Joel

I liked the full colour final CAG from VF-33, the one with a white star and full colour lightning bolt. Bob, Brian you guys know this one ..(hint, hint!) In my opinion, 30+ years is pretty damned historic. How many fighters, not bombers or transports have been in frontline service, at the tip of the spear for that long. Certainly nothing before the tomcat or phantom. Joel
-
I would have liked to have seen VF-96's partners, VF-92 fly tomcats and hornets, especially in the 1975 scheme with a yellow tail with a black leading edge and the emblem in the middle, outsize of course. Joel
-
Can't narrow it down to one, but here's a few hi viz faves of mine:- Late VF-11 CAGs with the blue nose and tails Miss Molly 1996, '98 & 2000 VF-154 CAGs VF-21 all the way though VF-31, especially the black and yellow tails And all the others, (non-committal or what?!) 'Spose I should mention a certain pirate's flag tailed squadron....(always liked them) Joel

Aircraft equivalent of the "Yugo"?
Bandwagon 106 replied to Andrew D. the Jolly Rogers guy's topic in Real Aviation
I can imagine there were a few choice words about the Buffalo after Midway, am I right in thinking they did well with the Finnish AF though during the Winter War? WRT the Demon, I remember a bit in an issue of Take Off saying that they were fairly underestimated at bfm, because Cougar, Fury, Tiger, Crusader and Skyray pilots wanted to know nothing about it! If there was one aircraft that would make me turn in my wings and fly Guppys for a living, it would have been the X/F-32! Say no more! Joel
