  1. The engine looks quite like a German 6 in line, like Mercedes or Benz. The flat rear end of the fuselage reminds me of a Brisfit, but it definitely is't one, fuse too short among other points. Looking at German planes i find the Halberstadt Cl II which also has a flattened rear fuse, length might match. Fin as far as can be seen also might match. Question: What is a Halberstadt doeing in China in or around 1037, or is the picture perhaps older? Greetings, Eduard.

Hi John. I also have a couple of pics, I cannot scan them but if you send me a PB with your snail-mail adress, I'll mail them to you. Greetings, Eduard
  3. Hi sandy. i think I've seen on this or other forum pictures of lego blocks being used for temporarily support. Also in the past Airfix printed templates in the construction sheets to be copied in cardboard, IIRC. You can always try and make cardboard templates from drawings in the same scale as your kit. Once the bottom wing is on, slide the template on and adjust the topwing. Also, when the struts are vertical, or when fixed in a rectangle, as on many SPAD kits, you can first put on the struts, align them, straighten them or whatever, and then only add the top wing once the struts are pr
  4. Gating off parts looks a bit funny, when you consider the Roden kits that often have many parts included that you don't need for that special plane. I've got quite a stock of german engines and MG's from Roden kits, sometimes even complete wings.... although plastic does not come free, still it is a minor part in the price on any kit, methinks. A bit cheap from Revell, perhaps. Greetings, Eduard.
  5. All the available info points to overall grey for the Dutch Kingfishers. In actual service they might have become blue/white. 24 planes had been ordered as shipboard planes for the cruisers in 1941. After shipping in jan. and feb. 1942, been diverted to Australia. (OS2U-3 Kingfishers) 18 of these flew in the RAAF, number A48-1 to A48-18. MLD numbers were intended to be V-1 to V-24. V-7 to V-24 became the RAAF planes, what happened to V-1 to V-6 is not known. By the way, Leon. If you need info about the looks of it I can supply you with a side view and description. I can't scan, but if
  6. Hi Brian. if you're lucky, there may be some decals on the sheet that you won't need. You can then use them for trials on an old kit or on any scrap of plastic. Good luck, greetings, Eduard.
  7. Gaskets, rubber rings and steering head bearings for the motorcycle! Not much modelling this weekend, I think, with the Formula 1, formula A1GP and the bike to work on. Greetings, Eduard.
  8. Hi Andy. i can supply A52-520 from an Airfix Mosquito, and AW 665 from Airfix Anson. PM our terrestrial adress, postage is on me. I also have some 1/48 Hellcat stuff, if you're interested. Greetings, Eduard.
  9. I have built the Revell re-boxing some years ago, found it a nice kit although you may need some attention to make the interior fit, try a dry fit first. Also the gunner has his arms in a weird position to fire his gun... And some small problems when fitting the engine and the cowling, was not perfectly clear from the instructions, but worked out well. If you want to fit the message pick-up hook you'll need to add some detail to the hinge point. It ends up as a very impressive model. I enjoyed building it and still enjoy watching it hanging from the ceiling. Greetings, Eduard.
  10. Hi Nicklas. I have only a few photo's of float Swordfishes, but it seems there are no visible control lines to the water-rudders, and no control-horns. How they were actuated then i don't know, perhaps something internally in the floats? If you want I can send you a photocopy of one of the better pictures, but you'll have to mail me your terrestrial adress as I can't send scans. Greetings, Eduard.

I have an 1/72 Ilyushin Il 2 Shturmovik lying around that I am not going to build, choice of two versions and 5 colour schemes IIRC. Anyone interested? It's by an obscure Eastern European manufacturer, The first one to contact me can have it for free ( I have to unload my stash a bit, or move to a bigger house! And the last option is no-go, for the moment). Greetings, Eduard.

Normandie-Niemen was not necessarily only French communists, there were also a lot of French that wanted to fight the Germans, but did not want to fight with the British. I can supply info on the colours of their planes, if needed. They have flown several types: Yak 3, Polikarpov U 2, Yak 6, Yak 9 D, T, M, Yak 1b, Yak 7, At the end of the war they were allowed to take their Yak-3's back to France. As these planes were not really build to last, and as there were no spares in France, they found themselves reconverted to.. NC 900, in fact FW 190's that had been built in France! Psychological
  13. Humbrol 30 used to be the reference in the 60ties, but since then opinions changed. There was a discussion on the subject on the now defunct Airfix Forum. As fa as I remember Peebee's suggestions are the best! H 29 for Dk Earth seems to be unchallenged, however. Greetings, Eduard.
  14. For the gunners, you probably don't have to bother about parachutes as there are many stories of gunners who first had to get out of their turreet to get their parachutes and clip them on. I suppose that most turrets where too small to allow the gunners to have their 'chutes attached during flight, or fight. For the rest, I think you will have to look at pictures of crews, see how they were dressed, and convert existing figures accordingly. Already it gets harder and harder to find crew-members in 1/72, I think in 1/48 it's even more difficult! Good luck, Greetings, Eduard.
  15. Obviously a Mosquito with radials! Greetings, Eduard.
