  1. Thanks for the kind words! I do not have records on the mix, but I am pretty sure that a medium blue was part of the mix for the cockpit. It was not an easy build, but one of my favorites for sure.... Dan
  2. Hello, Here is a link to my Judy nightfighter I built years ago, hope you find the info helpful. Dan http://www.arawasi.jp/modelgallery/DanS.html
  3. A beautiful job on the Nell today- it is a wonderful model and I am very happy to not only see one built, but one built so well. Dan
  4. Hi Brad, Glad to be of some help- the kit out of the box is so wonderful, the only thing really missing are these fairings. Fine Molds included well molded fairings in their Ki-10 kit from a few years back....too bad that Hasegawa did not do likewise. Dan
  5. Hi all, Just a quick note on the Pete wire covers featured on the front page today......they are very well molded as Scott mentioned, however, they are more like 1/72 scale and IMHO not worth buying. I bought a set from Sprue Bros. and once I saw them in person, returned them. I think an alternative would be to carve these covers from aerofoil shaped plastic rod and then drill holes to accept the flying wires. This way you could use liquid cement when installing them for maximum strength (rather than using CA to attach small resin bits). Hope this was helpful
  6. Thanks for taking the time to respond on the customer service end of things......it's appreciated. Dan
  7. Hi all, I see that there are now two companies, Gunsight Graphic and Microsculpt, that make 1/48 WW1 German Fokker streaked camouflaged decals. Does anyone have any input on either of these companies in terms of both customer service and decal quality. Thanks as always, Dan
  8. Hi Grant, I appreciate your wonderful response.....I'll keep an eye out for them locally. Have a great day, Dan
  9. Hi Daryl, Thanks for the detailed reply....I appreciate it! I have a 4 year old myself so I may take the plunge and try one......Thanks again, Dan
  10. Hi all, I've seen online a selection of 1/48 snap together kits from Pegasus Hobbies. Currently there are a Spitfire, Hurricane, 109 and 262 with other "classic" WWII birds to follow. At around $10 each, they are cheap. I was wondering if anybody has seen them in person yet and can offer a quick evaluation as far as what you get in the box. Possibly a great deal for kids, or maybe even in the 21st Century vein of things as far as buying a very basic kit to detail? Thanks in advance, Dan
  11. Hi all, A friend of mine is in the market for the 1/48 German naval lozenge for his copy of the Eduard W.4 kit. He knows that the company is now out of business, but was wondering if anybody may know of some being available. Thanks in advance, Dan

    1/48 Ki-45

Hi all, It is all brand new, nothing to do with the Nichimo kit. Also has a fuel truck, two figures, and ground equipment too. Engineered to have inserts to model every variant of nose, armament, and engine exhausts too..... http://www.hlj.com/product/HSG09781 HTH, Dan

    A6M2 Colors

Hi David, Yes, and thank you for posting what you did. ;-) I just posted a link on the WIP page at J-aircraft with a direct link to the FAQ section at J-aircraft.com, hopefully this will help readers who may not get their questions answered. It bothers me that we all have this wealth of information at our fingertips and sometimes it does not get shared as much as it could. Have a great day David, Dan

    A6M2 Colors

Rocky, Just as an FYI, in addition to the great info that David has posted here, the J-aircraft.com FAQ's also contain much on Zero colors: http://www.j-aircraft.com/faq/navy_message_board.htm HTH, Dan

    FM Do 24

Hi all, On that Halifax kit from FM.....last year when I bought it I posted photos of the incredible (lack of) quality of the kit. Also beware that some of the online "reviews" of that kit give it high marks, yet the contents of what many modellers bought was different than the review copies. For example, the review kits had solid molded resin engines, my copy had engine cores with separate (and misshapen) cylinders. I'm all for modelling skills- but for $100 US I'd better not have to replace the resin and clear parts because the quality is so poor.....
