  1. I have both Kitty Hawk issues & the GWH kit, they all all nice and will build up nicely. Nearly finished with this beast, the Hobby Boss Fullback, awesome kit too. John
  2. It is odd, I have all of the Osprey and other Sabre books and no pics of Low’s Sabre. Not only that I can not find a pic on the web.😩 John
  3. Lt. James F. Low 9 victory ace flew for the 4th FIW/335thFIS during the Korean War. That would identify with Yellow & Black band on the tail and Chief Squadron Badge on the gun bay doors. I have yet to come across a pic or profile artwork of his Sabre. According to an interview given by James (Horowitz) Salter who penned 'The Hunters' which the movie was developed from, he patterned Lt. Ed Pell's (Robert Wagner) character from Lt. Low. Hollywood glossed his character for the movie but Horowitz flew with these guys so there must be some truth in the character. Anyone have a link or a p
  4. I taught Duke Cunningham everything he knows! John
  5. The best way I found is to mix an Alclad aluminum shade with a few drops of green enamel. I did this for a pair of J-79’s & an ATAR 9C, the liners came out nice. Alclad can be mixed with enamels for any shade of metallics for effects. John
  6. https://www.reuters.com/article/us-israel-iran/israeli-jet-shot-down-after-bombing-iranian-site-in-syria-idUSKBN1FU07L 2 seater, both pilots ejected over Northern Israel, maybe a Sufa? John
  7. Damn Russians are influencing everything from elections to war fighting! 😂😂 We will call it the Flanker Eagle!😄 John
  8. What he said. 27 pages of dreams crushed with a single photo of panel lines! The modeling world has collapsed, Trumpeter/Hobby Boss can not get shapes right, Kitty Hawk can not get their research done correctly, Kinetic is getting better but their rivets are too deep, now GWH the saving grace of the Chinese modeling industry fails to live up to modeler's expectations, Ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, which Chinese model company is going to step up now and carry the flag of perfection???? Likes I sed, me's gittin, 1 to go wif bofe Kitty Hawk issues. Fek, I'm still waiting to buy a
  9. Umma git 1, & I gots bofe Kitty Hawk issues wit & wit out resin additions.😂😂 Looks real nice to me, & even better with a coat of primer & MRP Lacquer colors! 👍🏻 John
  10. I used a 1/48 Tamiya F-16C and the Hasegawa F-16I parts and scratched a two seater. Did WiPs on the boards, but Photo Bucket prolly will not link the photos. John
  11. Thanks, about 40 minutes with sanding sticks, not a big effort at all. John
  12. Hobby Boss for 1/48 is the only one right now, Given how much HB/Trumpeter & Kitty Hawk get bashed, the choice is yours. Trumpeter 1/72 Fullback eclipsed the Italeri based kits. My 1/48 HobbyBoss kit is 2/3 finished. John
  13. You are all mistaken, here is the Top Secret Squirrel device that makes the B-2 Stealth! John
  14. Casey Jones is the MiG-15 Nemesis in The Hunters until he runs into Cleve 'The Cleaver' Saville. Daddio! John
  15. Looking over the nice pix of the windscreen on the web, I am going to fabricate the V screen & frame from some clear product packaging and was thinking of using a fake finger nail for the curved fairing at the base, bash this together and add it to the kit screen. Just brainstorming at the moment .😄
  16. Red Roo's narrow chord slatted Sabre wing is a beautiful cast piece of resin. Definitely going to use it on an upcoming 1/48 F-86A build. Only nit is the slat actuators, always get a few broken in transit but I have a better solution to make finishing the NMF painting & assembly easier. Definitely the easiest solution for the -A slatted wing.
  17. Those are the real deal TP II with RAM panels. John
  18. Nice finish, if only Hasegawa would upscale the F-111 to 1/48 scale, it would make many of us happy. This is definitely one of their better fitting kits and it came out in 1989! John
  19. You are right about that but that is what was on display. Inert trainers of course. Notice the gray radome on the FB in the 4th pic, we had a couple AMP modded FB's, they had the gray radomes. By this time SAC knew it's days were numbered and it's influence was not what it once was. John
  20. Days before Open House 1989 at Pease, personal pix from my youth! John
  21. 1/48 Hasegawa F-22A Raptor, a very well engineered kit! John
  22. Thanks, it is just a concoction derived from a photo using ICM PAG plates, AeroBonus pieces and some other 1/48 pieces at Sprue Brothers. Groundwork is Celluclay & Scenic Railway material and a sheet of something/something that looks like asphalt. Just imagination, the fun part of vignettes. John
  23. Only helo that I have ever built, 1/48 Revell Hind with Cobra cockpit & external resin to a Mil-24V Hind in Syria 2015. John
