  1. Thanks, Jennings. The thought that it took me 30 years of building aircraft to discover this... :-) Cheers R
  2. That's reassuring in a way. I've always installed wires running from the antenna mast to the tail to any aircraft rather dogmatically. It seems Mustangs (and Spitfires) require more attention than that. :-) Thanks all, Rob
  3. Thank you all for your input. It's been very interesting reading. I've tried to summarize your info, and answer your request for more details about question 2. Cheers Rob 1. Some of my sources claim that the 3 ID lights under the starboard wing appeared with the P-51/Mustang IA, others say it was only with the A-36. Which is correct ? Answer: Neither, it started on P-51B's. P-51's F-6A's had the lights under the forward flap of the radiator scoop A-36's at the center of the scoop. No lights on P-51A's No lights on RAF Allison Mustangs. Information of lights on Allison Mustangs is ba
  4. Hi guys, after digesting 20+ books on the P-51 I thought I had a clear understanding of how the design evolved, but I am encountering far too many contradictions to be entirely sure, especially with the books that have appeared recently. So, I put it before you to get some things settled once and for all. 1. Some of my sources claim that the 3 ID lights under the starboard wing appeared with the P-51/Mustang IA, others say it was only with the A-36. Which is correct ? 2. I noticed that sometimes the antenna wire goes directly to the spine, and sometimes to the top of the mast. What's the r
  5. Thanks Christian, as these are custom printed, I will gather all requests first to reduce overhead. It might take a few months before you actually get them. I hope that is ok. How can I contact you as soon as I have more news ? Cheers R
  6. Hi guys, AFAIK there are no decal sets in 1/72 specifically aimed at Luftwaffe fuel triangles. I had these custom printed. If anyone else is interested, let me know. Cheers R

  8. I am sure you meant aileron, not elevator, right ?
  9. Thanks guys. Reassuring news. Sadly there are many books that have been released recently on iconic WW2 aircraft (P-51, Bf109, Fw190,...) that always seem to get something quite basic wrong or omit well known details. Most of the time the authors of these books do not forget to deride previous books, however.
  10. Amazing work ! Can you tell me more on how you achieved that NMF ? (Perhaps one day I'll dare to try one myself.) Cheers Rob
  11. Guys, I've always accepted that the P-51D wing root extension was somewhat bigger on the P-51D compared to previous marks. However, when reading the SAM Modelers Datafile book on the aircraft mention is made that some late P-51B might have received the D wing. (Incidentally, the book never mentions any differences in wing root between the B and D, while it takes great pride in proving previous books wrong in other respects.) Do we all still agree that the P-51D wing root fillet is larger, or has some new information surfaced that I am unaware of ? TIA Rob
  12. Anybody with more knowledge about this picture (via Lonewulf) ????
  13. Hi Jimm, Thanks, that's a subtle difference I would never have noticed. So, am I right to conclude that I am looking for an aircraft - of 144 Tayaset - with a paler green than usual (change of FS colors) - a canopy area that is in dark brown (different pattern) ? TIA Rob
  14. Hi guys, I am looking for some good images of a Kfir C7 in Israeli service. Most pictures that I seem to find are of the C2. (Unless the IAF didn't install the refuelling probe on their C7s and that is why I fail to identify them.) Can anyone point my noise in the right direction ? TIA Rob
  15. I know a little bit about the subvariants and they look nice to me as well. Too bad I don't see a 14-blade fan to go with the big prop. Won't keep me from getting one, erm, a few... :-)
  16. Wow ! :jaw-dropping:/> Thanks a lot for this information. Now knowing what to look for, I found more info on Britmodeler. It seems that we are in for a treat. Even the Sturmbock canopy won't pose any problems any more. Happy days (except for my piggy bank) ! http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v734/kyofu2/5A5899DD-010E-4EB0-B50C-D2DD768D827F_zpsnbnoeybz.jpg
  17. Hi Guys, I've been building Fw190s for over 25 years now and I would love to build a couple of A-5s in 1/72. Is there any kit available already that allows me to build one OOB ? AFAIK the only kit marketed as an A-5 is the Hasegawa one. I own one and sadly it is not accurate at all. The outer wing gun panels are for an MG151 armed machine and the panel lines for an A-8. The only thing it has got going for it is the provision of the flatter nose. There used to be a resin conversion set from Cooper Details but that seems to be OOP. Thanks in advance, Rob
  18. I couldn't have wished for a more complete answer. :-) A pity the decals don't come in 1/72. :-( Nevertheless, I would also like to see the scheme you guys actually wanted. Cheers Rob
  19. Hi guys, I just came across picture (in Combat Aircraft Monthly May 2015) of an F-5E that looks suspicioulsy like it is wearing a WW2 three-color scheme. Does anyone has any more info ? Thanks in advance, Rob
  20. Got some decals left for this bird. Only 5 in 1/72 and 4 in 1/48. Cheers Rob
  21. All offers considered. PS: I can throw in some Kagero decals as well. Cheers R
  22. Sorry for the shameless publicity. http://cgi.benl.ebay.be/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=331038771506 Thanks for watching, Rob
