  1. Definitely looking forward to more of your progress, janman. It's been a very enjoyable thread so far and I'm sure the next steps will be just as good. Great choice of colour scheme, by the way; any CVW-17 unit is alright by me....... Cheers, Andrew.
  2. Great stuff, Zidane. Congratulations on a great build and thanks for the pics of your progress. Andrew.
  3. Looks very nice indeed, Ham. Thanks for the pics and the info regarding the use of white in that scheme. Your kit is coming together very well and I think your masking out the areas of the national insignia has certainly paid off. Hope to see more soon. Cheers, Andrew.
  4. Very nice start, Mario. I'm looking forward to more pics of your progress, especially as you start applying paint; great choice of scheme, by the way. For Ken, Thanks very much for pointing out the removal of the tail hook fairing and your excellent pics. I knew that the Strike Eagle did not have the fairing, but wasn't aware that the other versions had also done away with it. I can now add this to the list of things to do when I start my aggressor Eagle. Cheers, Andrew.
  5. Very nice result, Don. That's a lovely looking A-7, especially in this scheme. Any chance of pics of the Corsair and Crusader together? Either way, very well done to get two kits finished (especially with the setback of the non-gluing kit). Cheers, Andrew.
  6. Great result, Rodney. That's a fine finish you've achieved and in markings I've not seen before. Thanks for the pics. Andrew.
  7. Looking very nice, Honza. The markings look quite good and it's great to see your Crusader coming together like this. Andrew.
  8. Thanks for the extra pics, Honza. I'm enjoying watching your progress on this build; the scheme is really starting to develop. Cheers, Andrew.
  9. Great work! You've completed an excellent Vigilante and it's really enhanced by the folded wingtips and opened radome (brilliant use of available resin by the way). I also think your paint mix has nailed the look of gull grey; well done. Cheers, Andrew.
  10. I agree with Ian...... this will very good indeed if this is just the start. Could you explain what colour you've used here though please, as it doesn't look like your average garden variety Gloss Gull Grey (perhaps it's just the lighting)? Cheers, Andrew.
  11. The re-application went very well, as it looks spot-on now; kudos to you for persisting. Here's hoping that it's all smooth sailing from here. Cheers, Andrew.
  12. Gorgeous F-8, Rick. That's very fine modelling all 'round and the outcome will be excellent. I'm looking forward to more pics of your progress. Cheers, Andrew.
  13. G'day J.C, I'm fairly certain that Scimitars utilised the same wheel as the Sea Vixen in the later periods of their service. I see from sprueshots of the Xtrakit that they provide what appears to be the Sea Vixen style (in the example I saw, I think I can make out a mould defect too!), so all you need are a spare set from one of the Sea Vixen kits or aftermarket, say Aeroclub for example to replicate the. I'm sure I have a spare pair from a Novo kit, if lime green plastic doesn't make you nauseous. Edit: While searching for something to back up my claims, I've re-discovered doubt in my own m
  14. Looking very nice, Don. Sorry I'm late to check in with your build. You've certainly got the blu-tac masking method down pat; the finish looks perfect. Hope the rest of the decalling is free of silvering. Cheers, Andrew.
  15. Thanks very much, Moritz. Your reviews are very helpful and this continues that trend. It's great too hear of the possibility of more sets in 1/72 and I like your suggestions below - Thanks again for taking the time to post your impressions and photos. Cheers, Andrew.
  16. Jennings, Fascinating stuff indeed and many thanks for the pointer. Cheers, Andrew.
  17. Excellent start, Rodney. Your cockpit is outstanding and it bodes well for the rest of the build. Hope the painting went well. Cheers, Andrew.
  18. Great progress, Honza. Your kit's looking great and the work you've put in on the canopy to get the yellow surround will look spot on once it's finished. I'm looking forward to the next painting stages. Cheers, Andrew.
  19. Hello again, It's been a while since my last update, and a bit of time has also elapsed since I last committed modelling on these kits, but I do now have some small progress to show. Here's the Razorback with some paint on (in fact all of the colours had been applied when the photo was taken) and just after I'd given it a go over with Micromesh - the olive drab hadn't turned out well, so I had to prepare it for another coat: The good news is that the next application went very well and here's how it looks now: Time to get cracking on the other aircraft and of course I'll apply some
  20. I agree with the others, Zidane. It's great to see it with the masking off, showing all your hard work; I look forward to more of your progress. Andrew.
  21. Excellent work, ALPH. Lovely improvements made to the kit, especially in the cockpit and on the canopy sills. I'm looking forward to more of your work. Cheers, Andrew.
  22. Zidane, Your progress is a joy to behold; the efforts you've taken to represent such an interesting scheme have been well-rewarded. Other than a panel line wash, I wouldn't fuss too much more with the finish, as it just looks so good. Please keep us updated with more pics as you continue (I'm really curious to see what the jet will look like once the masking comes off). Cheers, Andrew.
  23. Hello Ken, Would the same parts from the Idea kit suffice? I've compared them to the Hasegawa pieces (on which they're based) and they certainly look to be exact copies. I can send those parts (still on the sprue) if you wish. Cheers, Andrew.
  24. To all the recent posters, Many, many thanks for your efforts and for taking the time to keep this thread kicking along. It's been a real treat to see such a variety and with detail of when and where shot; great viewing all round. Regards, Andrew.
  25. Lovely result, Don. You've achieved an excellent finish and it's great to read that you enjoyed the build so much. Another kit, whether A-7 or F-8, to this standard would be equally worth watching. Cheers, Andrew.
