  1. Actually, to be more accurate, there is a list of the aircraft he flew to get his kills, they were: B6228 x2 D3406 D3401 x3 D7155 D9616 x2 F1405 D9615 D3374 D3336 But still no idea what they looked like! BD
  2. D'OH! I actually got in my car and WENT to my local hobby emporium, where I not only found Rosenstein's D.VII in the Osprey book (pt.2), but as one of the markings options in the Roden kit (Alb.-late). Oh well, live and learn! Still looking for Joseph, though! BD
  3. Robin, Yep, looked there. Some good background info, but nothing on his specific airplanes. BD
  4. Joseph flew with 10/210 Sqn. and thus was undoubtadly in Camels. Can't find any photos of him or his airplane on line. Any ideas? No bets on how this one relates to my question just posted! Thanks again! BD
  5. I'm looking for aircraft information on Willy Rosenstein. He flew with Jastas 17 and 40 and I've found three on line. Two are of an Albatross D.III in (it looks kind of like) red and black and the other is of a D.VII in (again, looks like) black and white with a white heart. (http://people.sinclair.edu/thomasmartin/knights/index.htm) Can anyone tell me any more about these aircraft, or any other he flew? What variety of D.VII was the one with the heart? Any info would help, thanks! BD
  6. I'd like to do Ernst Udet's D.VII in 1/48. I know Roden does this kit with his markings, but I have the first release of the Eduard kit and I gotta say it's a beaut! Does anyone know if Eduard plans to release the correct version to do Udet's and, if so, whether it will include his markings? Are his markings available after market if needed? Thanks! BD
  7. Well, VF-17 DID fly -4's. See this site http://www.almansur.com/jollyrogers/missingbones.htm. This is a GREAT Jolly Rogers info site! BD
  8. Excellent tutorial, thanks loads! IMHO this one should be pinned! BD
  9. Having started what's turned into a lively discussion on the jet board with my Jet Aces plan, I thought I'd see what I could stir up over here One of my long standing collection plans has been a series of models of America's WWII production single seat fighters in the colors of each one's highest scoring ace, American or not. The list I've come up with (including aircraft, ace, nationality, score on that type): P-36 Edmond Marin La Meslee French 16 P-38 Richard Bong American 40 P-39 Grigorii A. Rechkalov USSR 52 P-40 Clive Caldwe
  10. Ah, didn't know about that! That does put a different perspective on things. Anyone know where I can get Iranian F-14 markings? BD
  11. OK, here's the deal. I'm talking about aircraft that had at least one PILOT who scored five or more kills on that type, then build one representing the pilot who had the most kills. Doesn't have to be over five on the same airframe, just the same basic type. Thus Mr. Nahumi may have scored his kills on seven differnt F-16s, including A's, B's, C's or D's, but he's the highest scoring F-16 pilot. So... No F-14 unless someone who flew the plane had five or more on the F-14. Not that the airframe had 5 kills, but that a pilot did. No Sea Harrier as the highest scorer on that type had three
  12. ;) Ah, yes indeed, but not the HIGH scorer! That would be Mr. Egozi, that's why he's on the list and not the others. BD
  13. OK, so I've been thinking about things. A while back I planned a collection of aces of Mach 2 jets, which turned out to be a pretty small number. A little more research and I've come to the conclusion that there are only a relatively small number of ANY jet fighters that have produced aces. By this I mean that an individual pilot has scored five or more victories on that particular aircraft type (not that the aircrat type itself has more than five kills, that would be a larger number of airplanes.) Based on my research (mainly Jan Safarik's Aces site http://math.fce.vutbr.cz/safarik/ACES/inde
  14. Well, the Defiant seems be leading in the polling. Any more votes? BD
  15. And if so, which? Just wondering, I'm planning eventually to do one from each squadron and in different paint schemes and I'm wondering if anyone is already planning one and if I'm crazy enough to try to jump in at this late date. BD
