  1. Hey all, I have been trying to find an article/build info for Revell's 1/48 PV-1 Ventura that came out last year..? 2012..? It's the kit with the octopus decal around the dorsal turret. I was positive there was a build article in either TMMI or MAI, but I don't remember what issue if any. Could anyone help with my query...? Would be greatly appreciated, unclepine
  2. Hey guys, anyone built one of these Italeri ancient kits...? Mold quality is actully pretty good, but I wanna do another sceme other than the trainer orange. Are there some camo schemes and decals out there that anyone knows of...? If you have any thoughts please email to: spitfire21@mymts.net Thanks, Laurie
  3. OOPS..! Ya, I guess that would help wouldn't it...? 1/32 scale
  4. Do any of you nice chaps out there know of a decal sheet for the Trump P-40 with the shark mouth and most importantly the "frowning" eyeballs...? I have seen the basic ones with the black dot on a white teardrop, but I want the "nasty" stare type...!! Cheers, Laurie in Winterpeg....bbbrrrrrrrr...its coming...!! :(
  5. Hey guys. I agree TOTALLY...!! I was just curious as to what folks thought out there is all. The reason I asked is that a few chaps were over to my place and this subject came up. There are indeed all sorts of add-ons, resin and otherwise. The point was that the basic subjects we see on the store shelves where the "newbies" are lookin are stocked with the "usual" assortment. You have to get "exposed" to the aftermarket "stuff" to even begin to know what "else" is out there. This may well be a problem with some of the hobby shops in various towns. There are shops that won't let you have a pea
  6. Hey all, just curious about your thoughts on a subject that came up last weekend. It seems there are more kit makers out there in the last few years, and we are blessed with more and more subjects as well as remakes of older kits. How many P-51's, Jugs, 109's, Tomcats, etc., etc., can you make/buy/build, before you get aerial burn out...? What can you do to inspire and draw new blood and returning builders to our hobby? Just curious... :D LT in Winnipeg Manitoba Model Builders "Live Long...Build 'em All..."
  7. Thanks John, Don, all those were helpful especially the Zotz stuff. I will also go for a look see on ebay. LT
  8. Hey guys, I am gonna build one of Trumpeter's P-51B's, but I don't wanna use a NMF on it. Anyone know of a decal set for a multi-color camo scheme...? Thanks, LT
  9. You are welcome Harvey...! Edgar, like I said about droning on and on and on ad nauseum about superfelous detail that would be a nightmare to build, and complete waste of time to put into a kit because you would not SEE it...! I understand fully the need to get details correct and fitted properly. What I do NOT understand is the lengths to which SOME modelers go to achieve TOTAL accuracy in a kit that will sit on a shelf...! Hey, don't get me wrong, you can do whatever you want to "float yer boat", I have my own foibles that would not interest modelers out there. My rant as it were, was aimed
  10. I think far too many of us are getting bent all outa shape about rivets, wing bulges, fin curves, yadda, yadda, yadda, when we should be more focused on what this "hobby" is all about...! Who gives a rats *** if there are 14 too many rivets on the trailing edge of a SpitFockStang. To listen to some of you guys out there, you'd think we were all trying to build the real thing for gawdsake. ITS A MODEL...get it..? You sit down, put on some good tunes, warm up the coffee(or cool the beer), and...HAVE SOME FUN...!!! Remember that...? There are too many so-called "HEXPERTS" out there that drone on
  11. Hey all, about this Aztec cleaning thingie.... I have been airbrushing and teaching/training the hobby/art for the last 25 yrs or so, and the ONE tool I simply cannot do without is my Ultra-Sonic pen cleaner. These babies work wonders on crusted up paint on any and all parts...HOWEVER...some tricks are at hand for the "plastic" guns..!! These polyacetal resin guns from Testor(formerly Kodak), are resistant to all known thinners and reducers that the average model builder will come in contact with. The odd thing is, that after many hours of brushing, the paint somehow manages to impregnate t
  12. Hi all. Been a long time since I last posted here, and would like some help with the new Eduard Mirage 3C "Super" kit...! Its the one with hundreds of decal sheets, PE, lead nose weight, masks, etc., etc. I have found a few cross-refs with Humbrol, Tamiya and Gunze. I have a HUGE stash of Tamiya and AeroMaster Acrylics, so I have to find a decent match for the tri-color desert style scheme I want to do. Anybody out there can help with the color match to these paints...? I hate to go out and buy MORE...!! Cheers, Laurie Clued out in Winnipeg :(
