  1. I've built this kit (or am still building it to be more accurate) but didn't end up with such large gaps. The gaps I have are very small and go relatively unnoticed. I'd check the fit of the panel that creates the back wall of the interior because, IIRC, I had to sand it down a little to get the fuselage to fit correctly. Good luck! Hope you aren't using the Academy decals. They're not the best. If you are, trim away as much of the clear film as humanly possible. Cheers, CACTUS
  2. The Apaches definately look aweome in gray. I think you all will enjoy seeing what I've got coming up pretty soon. CACTUS
  3. Patience, Grasshopper (in my best Kung-Fu voice) the good pics are coming soon! :( I'll leave it at that... :) If what you see in the magazines doesn't satisfy your modeling needs, then contact me. CACTUS
  4. Let me be the first to welcome you to the ARC forums. Good to have you aboard. Cheers, CACTUS
  5. This decision is simply stupid. How can we not need more airlanes like the C-17 right now and into the forseeable future. Heck, I was on the ramp of a major USAF installation with lots of heavy cargo traffic and the USAF was contracting with a Russian AN-72 to carry cargo because, as I was told by an official, "We have no more planes available right now to do this mission. They are all being used." The stupidity never ends... CACTUS
  6. Looks good Jake. Keep up the excellent work. CACTUS
  7. This is just one of many dumb ideas thrown at me over the years. I've come to expect that when people don't want, or know how, to do their jobs that stupid ideas start flying at me. Believe me when I say they come from all services and really have to make you wonder what it takes to be a PAO. Here's another one from a few years back. I'm approved to fly with an unnamed service to shoot some photos. We go to mission planning and the PAO is working hard to convince the pilots of the subject and chase aircraft that they don't need to do any aerobatics with me aboard to get photos of the aircra
  8. I thought some of the regular ARC board readers might get a kick out of this. (names and unit details withheld) I'm currently working on a project involving some large military cargo aircraft. I've been dealing with the Public Affairs Officer to try and get some aerial photos and have been waiting for a reply now for an extended period. Well, the reply came to me in the form of a denial, but came couched with a suggestion that I, get this, hire a civilian helicopter to shoot photos of the LARGE cargo aircraft as it does pattern work at home base! The PAO even provided a l
  9. Skull, There's some shots of AC-130H's and U-boats in the Twobobs Shock and Awe book. Definately some impressive nose-art and combat kills. Some good overall shots of the birds too. Hope this helps. CACTUS
  10. about 15 years ago Hasagawa put out an entire book of his artwork. Some really impressive stuff. Maybe we should all push for a reprint that includes some of his latest and greatest. Anyone have the book I'm talking about? I can't recall the name but a friend bought it and never let it out of his sight. Cheers, CACTUS
  11. Daniel, Some very nice shots! Keep up the good work and let us see what you get in '06! Cheers, CACTUS
  12. Roger, I never heard back from you on the PM? Cheers, CACTUS

    AC-47T?

The aircraft will probably be pulled from on-hand stocks the Columbian AF have. If you want to know who trains them to fly these newer machines, check out issue 14( I think ) of International Air Power Review. CACTUS
  14. That's about the only time I put my mask up too. Except when I need to talk on the ICS or radio, of course. Other than that, I prefer to have it hangin' CACTUS
  15. I like the bi-centennial sheet idea. Especially since that is about all I build. The more color the better. The only thing is that most of these aircraft have been done in decal form many times over. So, you guys would have to pick some of the rare aircraft within the communities you listed to make it a 'must have' for all of us. Even if the aircraft weren't rare, I'd probably still buy a sheet as long as it's available in 1/48 scale. Cheers,
