  1. I'll say it again Bill, very impressive work! Very dramatic scene. Joe Youngerman
  2. Very nice Greg...I like the weathering, the exhaust stains look very realistic in color and pattern. The BMF looks good too! Joe Youngerman
  3. Thanks Greg and Raymond for the nice feedback! Joe
  4. Thanks guys, its really a nice kit Mike...a couple minor fir problems but thats it. I wrote a full build article for ModelingMadness that will be up in a couple weeks or so. I did use the kit decals which are very well done though just a little translucent. The decals available in this scale are rather disappointing though I beleive a new sheet just came out from someone. BTW Mike...do you have any "dragon and his tail" left in 1/72 for the B-24? I wanted to get a copy but see its gone off your site...I would also like to get a copy of the "Strawberry *****" for the B-24D... Thanks again
  5. Hi all, I completed this project yesterday and took some photos to share. Its finished in Gunze RLM 71/70 over Pollyscale's RLM 65. The yellow Id markings Are Aeromaster's RLM 02 enamel. In addition to interior details I added a vac gunner's canopy, and Aeroclub MG 15 to replace the top gunner's gun as it was fairly basic. Also added were a scratch built navigation antenna on the aft lower fuselage, brakelines and the wire bracing on the main gear extension arms. I also made the pilot's sun shield under his access hatch from weathered and scribed paper. Hope you like it! Happ
  6. Wow, very nicely done. The finish work looks excellent...I like the weathering very much...just the right amount IMO. :D Joe
  7. Thanks Andy for the kind words...glad you liked it. The mottling was fairly time consuming as the mix must be very thin to acheive a good look in this scale. Consequently, I have to be very careful to avoid runs as the paint is applied. Its definately the fun part of WW2 Luftwaffe builds though! :D Joe
  8. Great technique, thanks for sharing the secret! :D Joe
  9. Thanks Ace...glad you liked it! :D Joe
  10. Thanks guys for the support...Mark, I can't say for sure that they are exactly the correct size but they looked the part to me. Too much work in this bird already to dig into that! Happy modeling all!
  11. Thanks Brad for your kind words! I hate that I did all the extra work and managed to be off on the color! Ah well, on to the next project! :D <_< Joe
  12. Agreed...I'll live with it I suppose, not much else to do at this point...thanks Dave. Joe
  13. Very nicely done sir! What method did you use to attain the streaky weathered finish on the topsides? It looks very convincing in my opinion. I am working on Hasegawa's 1/72 11H-6 right now so a special thanks for posting yours! Joe Youngerman
  14. Thanks Velez...the numbers on the side are unusual but correct...they are the last four numbers of the Wrk # of the a/c. Not sure why they did this but I have seen it done on several late war machines. Quick identification I suppose. Turns out the color green I chose is a bit light. The a/c apparently had a field mixed non-standard green applied that was a bit darker... Just got this info from another modeler who is knowledgable on the particular a/c. Oh well, that's what I get for believing decal sheet instructions! Joe
  15. Hi all, Finished this one this week and thought I'd throw a few pics on the board for your review. According to references, this a/c had a 75/83/76 scheme applied. There is much confusion between the colors RLM82 and RLM83 I have discovered. Wartime German sources seem to indicate 83 was a lighter green and not Dunkelgrun as it is often refered to. With all the contradictory info out there I ended up going with the lighter Pollyscale RLM 83 which matches the WW2 Luftwaffe Painting Guide color chips well. Whether it's "right" or not I can not say for sure. The model is Revell's 109G-10
  16. Dave, beautiful work...I love it!! Your scribing and paintwork look superb. One thought/suggestion...I recently did this Italeri Do 217K-2 and used Testors Metalizer Burnt Iron for the exhausts and then added a very light wash of black to them. I brush on the Metalizer, (it can be done, just don't stir it ahead of time), and polish it just a little by hand. I think the effect is pretty convincing and might add even more realism to your absolutely beautiful builds! Hope you don't mind a little input from a fellow 1/72 guy! :) B) B) Joe Youngerman
  17. Excellent work Arseny!!! I am most impressed with the mottling on the fuselage sides...I think you absolutely nailed the look of the real a/c! Well done! B) Happy holidays, Joe Youngerman
  18. Beautiful job, great subject...a real pleasure to look at! Thanks for sharing it. Joe Youngerman
  19. Coming along nicely Greg...keep us posted! Joe Youngerman
