  1. You got that much right. As much as I like Airbus products, the 747 is the 747 its been with us for a long time in one form or another, and it will be with us for a long time more in one form or another. Julien
  2. I have some pics of a Mk IX undergoing maintenance at Duxford, shoot me your email and I will send them over. Julien
  3. Hi, Anyone have copies or scans of the instructions for Aerocalcas sheet 72008? Thanks Julien
  4. At the Hendon show Sunday a gent approached us at the Japanese SIG with the following ID models. They are about 1/200 scale but I suspect 1/16" to 1' The are cast metal, not aluminium as to heavy, the aircraft name is stamped under the wing and they are attached to brass rods. Anyone any idea on these, who made them? etc as he was unable to find any information out. He claims they came from RAF Cranwell. Julien
  5. This is Airfix's kit of the F-86E/Sabre 4. Done with Airfix kit decals. Kit has Pavla replacement wheels as the airfix ones are not good. Not the best sabre kit out there but makes to a reasonable model, the wing fences were moved 4mm and replaced with platicard ones. Humbrol paints used with the hairy stick. Many thanks to Paul AH for the kit and spare decals. Julien

    HC-97G

Cheers guys. The help and photos are welcome. Our club is doing as its theme for Telford this year "International Rescue" I like to think a little outside the norm so though a HC-97G would qualify for that once I saw the option on the decal sheet. Julien
  11. After getting all my modelling stuff out from my parent attic the frist kit I did on comming back was the old Monogram F-101. Also was the first kit I ever used aftermarket on, the decals. Julien

    HC-97G

Does anyone have any information, or know where to find any info on the HC-97G. I cant seem to find very much on the net at all. I know many were not converted. Looking especially for info on the antenna's they had on the sides. Thanks Julien
  14. Took a trip out to former RAF Bentwaters with a friend to drop somehing off and have a poke around the old place. Former USAF "Special Weapons" facility; One of the old hangers; Its now owned as a commercial estate. The ammo bunkers have been used to store fireworks. The runway is still used Caroline Grace has her Spitfire there. Also used to store stuff like this; also used by Everett aero to store surplus aircraft bought from the MOD; Julien
  15. Airwaves do a PE set, currently in stock here in the UK http://www.hannants.co.uk/product/AEC72006 Airies do a set of 2 seats, also they do a prowler cockpit which you could cut down, but could be expensive for what you need. http://www.hannants.co.uk/search/index.php?adv=1&product_category_id=&product_division_id=&manufacturer_id=7896&product_type_id=&code=&scale_id=956&keyword_search=a-6&setPerPage=25&restore_search=&save_search_active=yes&save_search_name=&save_search= Eduard also do a set for the prowler http://www.eduard.com/store/Eduard/E
  16. Does anyone know if the Aires exhaust set for the F-4B/C/D/N will the revell kit, I am sure it was designed for the Tamyia kit and I am sure I heard the engies were different sizes between the revell and Tamyia kits. Before anyone asks I need the shorter nozzels for the J as doing a Blue angel. Cheers, Julien
  17. Thanks for the comments. The prop looked OK to me, masking it was  Only mods were a pair of white metal ejection seats, probably did not help with the weight issues but the kit ones were really bad. You cant really see the back of the exhausts so I left them alone. Julien
  18. You could try laying the decals down in a pool of future and then wicking the excess away with a paper towel. I have used this on old decals and it works very well. Some decals do not like microscale products though I have never used Zvesda ones. Julien
  19. Oh no another new kit to buy! Julien
  20. Not sure as I did not add it all up. Put what I thought was enough in, then ended up filling the nose gear bay as well! I looks ok but jog the table and it falls back. Julien
  21. RAF Shorts Tucano T.1 Marking for 72 ® Squadron. The Airfix kit is not great and this had been sat on the shelf of doom for a while as the Airfix decals were really out of register. I found these decals on and Xtradecal sheet "RAF Update". They are a tad large in a couple of places. Paint is xtraxcrylix Black which sprayed well. Only thing really missing is markings for the det cord in the canopy which I was not going to attempt painting, doing the prop was hard enough! If anyone builds this kit cram as much weight in the nose as you can, mine barely rests on the nose wheel. Jul
  22. Colorado decals did a Gulf War sheet with Bahrain decals on it. Julien
  23. Good luck with the project I like to see them running. However calling the Bucc a BAe product? Its a Blackburn Aircraft. If you took that to the fore then nearly every aircraft we have eve had in the UK could be a BAe one as they are effectivley all that is left of all those famous companies gone before (BAe Spitfire?). Its like referring to the P-51 as a Boeing product - NO its from North American. Sorry but its a pet hate of mine. Julien
  24. Max Hastings for a good all round look. His history books are excellent. Vulcan 607 & Sea harrier over the Falklands can be a bit one dimensional as they were written that way. Still good books though. As for the value of the Vulcan raid, there has been a lot said & written about it. A lot of the effect was psychological. The fact that we could hit the mainland. It also did stop fast jets using the Stanley runway so they all used the mainland giving them less time over the Islands. As mentioned the capability of the Argentine airforce may have been lacking in some areas but the brav
