  1. It is a bit pricy. I received a $250 gift certificate from my coworkers when I retired for Mega Hobby and waited on it to come out. If it wasn’t for the free money, probably wouldn’t have done it.
  2. I wonder if decals are sitting on the cardboard absorbing acids for it? Kind of like artwork? Supposed to use acid free backers on pic frames?
  3. It was kind of cool seeing it from my front yard. I’d post pics, but how many more times do we need to see a blue sky with a tiny white dot posted?
  4. See, this could be a blessing in disguise. Because if you had the tools, she would find all kinds of projects she wants done around the home. Trust me, act dumb, don’t buy any construction tools and your life will be much simpler. since we bought our new home I’ve had to build picture shelves for the walls, lower the countertop riser in the kitchen, build my daughters bed footboard and a bunch of other small projects. My advise, buy the biggest booth you can find. I built mine using and modifying plans out on the internet. It vents out the window to the left. I’m also using a dryer ven
  5. I’ve built and used their decals that were very old without crumbling issues. Like years old. Might be a storage issue if decals are falling apart after 30 months. I keep all my kits in a cool, semi-climate controlled area. I have gotten my hands on decals that were stored in an attic that were subjected to wild temp swings, and they crumbled when wet. Just a few months back I built a 44 yo kit (Hasegawa F-16) that had been stored in climate controlled area all its life. 20+ years with me. Decals slid right off like they were printed yesterday. Thank goodness, because there were no a
  6. Gwen, Its really hard to say since just last week we had a front dip down from Canada all the way into Texas and across into the Carolinas. Kind of the same path the balloon took.
  7. Already available in all scales. Just go to a local party supply or Walmart and buy a white balloon and inflate to desired scale!
  8. Hey, I just hope this lights a fire under someone to finally produce a 1/32 F-22. (And not the YF-22) Wouldn’t it be ironic if it was Trumpeter or Hobby Boss?
  9. As much as I want this in 1/32, I’ll probably settle for a 1/48. There was a resin 1/32 announced last year by S Models, but nothing yet.
  10. Endust, not Pledge. Different products! We used Endust on cars as well. Especially fiberglass hoods. Just blowing air across coming from the paint gun can build up static. wipe your booth down with Endust as well. You can try grounding your model and paint booth. Not sure how successful this would be, but we also did it with cars. Simple on a car. Hang a chain over the axle. For a model and booth you could try buying an electric plug to put on power cords, 3 prong only. Attach a ground wire to the green (ground) terminal only and plug it into your outle
  11. So I’m sitting here looking at mine right now. I’m guessing that any panel lines and rivet detail in the raised zig-zag areas is incorrect? As well as the square grid patterns on top too? How about the ridged outline around the perimeter of the wings? My plan is to use a short piece of 1” diameter hose and wrap 320 grit wet or dry sandpaper around it and wet sand the majority of the detail off. Of course I’ll follow up with finer grits to polish it off some. All I’m hoping to do is remove some of the surreal detail. Hell, if it supposed to represent tape covering up seams and
  12. Yea, I’m gonna blame that one on autocorrect.
  13. Thanks for the post mclair! Great info and it settles my question if I should sand off all that silly raised detail on the models. Always thought it was way “out of scale” for tape. I do have a question if you can answer it. Just how top secrets are the cockpit details? I’m curious if Quinta is ever going to be able to produce one of their 3D interior sets for the kits.
  14. I remember that movie. Prop hit dad across the arm/shoulder when he started it by the prop and he had to tell his son how to fly?
  15. Oh, I forgot about some parts a guy sent me many years ago. The numb nut placed a 1/32 P-40 spinner and a few more parts taped to a piece of cardboard in a standard mail envelope. Not even a padded envelope. Spinner arrived flat after it was run through the mail processing machines for envelopes. Not the USPS fault. Pro tip: Never, ever, ever ship anything in a regular envelope but regular folded papers.
  16. When I flew RC I had a 3 ci twin 4 cycle with a 24” prop. It was very nerve racking cranking it safely. prime the carb, flip prop through a few times to get it wet in the cylinders. Hook up battery to glow plugs. Pull prop through compressing while hanging on tight. If you felt the kick, simply use thumb, index and middle finger to grasp the hub and pop it back against compression. Usually started right up. It was the small ones you flipped through compression with your finger that would bite you. I always used a starter on those. If it wasn’t for my bad knees, I’d pro
  17. My old county had an M-113 APC they painted up like their patrol cars with department logos on it. After Ferguson riots the Military took back all the military stuff after they decided it wasn’t a good idea to arm police like the military. But all they ever did with it was PR stuff at County events and the State Fair. We are a big military town and a lot of the retired guys liked taking their grandkids to go see it so they could run through it and climb on it. Honestly, it was a blatant waste of their budget. I know the guy that towed it for them. It was a $2000 tow bill eac
  18. My Harbor Freight is a knock off of the Cali Air. Probably went down the same assembly line. “One for you, one for me. One for you, one for me….”
  19. In my 20+ years of buying kits online I have had one go missing (1/48 Memphis Belle) and one come with a badly crushed box (Fantastic Voyage Proteus) with slight damage to the kit. The vendor offered to replace it, but I declined.
  20. Awesome! Just found the YouTube video on how to use it.
  21. I’ve only dipped one canopy. A resin canopy for my Fisher Cougar that was very hazy. No amount of polishing would make it crystal clear. One dip and my mind was blown. What would y’all suggest for canopy’s like this?
  22. I was very young, like 5 or 6. I remember the place visually, but no idea where it was or the name of the place. Small shop, very old building with the typical display windows with a door between them.
  23. Dang it! So close….I have the EC-135C kit in the stash.
  24. Airbrush? Man, you’ll be there all week spraying that thing. Go pick up a $20 detail gun at Harbor Freight.
  25. Over a month late responding, but do a Google search on interior green colors. It varies widely due to the metal it’s painted on, manufacture of the coating, etc. Apparently the interior green colors have always been a “non-standard” color for various reasons. I did read that back during WWII a request was made to stop using the “yellow-green” coatings since it was too bright for cockpits. The Mr. Color interior green now comes the lighter yellow shade of green. I simply add in black to get the tone I’m looking for.
