  1. Just adding redundant superlatives, but I can't not comment... Simply outstanding.
  2. Spitfire, can't say much about the resin cockpits but I can confirm: (And keep in mind 'absolutes' are the antithesis of NavAir) - ALL fleet F-14s, A-D, were capable of carrying the Phoenix missile. The Tomcat was designed as a fleet interceptor, with the primary weapons system being the AIM-54 Phoenix being guided by the AWG-9 Radar, which drove the frontal area and size requirements of the airframe. Secondly, NO fleet F-14, A-D, was ever cleared to carry the AIM-120 AMRAAM, because: 1. The Tomcat already had a long-range 'fire & forget' missile of sorts in the Phoenix (once it goes 'term
  3. Wow. Alexander, it is easy to see where you got your eye for subtlety of shape and passion for exacting detail. As much as his artwork, you are a living legacy honoring your father's talent.

    TOPGUN

Just completed a great deal with Rob; he was quick & my (oversized) box arrived well packed & protected, 'as-advertised'! -Thanks, 'TOPGUN'; would purchase again with complete confidence...
  5. ...The REAL irony is that I betcha the guy didn't have to 'afford' that M-B; it was probably a 'perk' that is being covered in the cost of all those many dollars of compensation. That is the killer with these sorts of deals- folks who get paid millions in salary, millions more in bonuses, more millions in 'compensation packages', etc. - which they get to invest or otherwise spend in a 'discretionary' way- While most of us struggle to pay for all we need (transportation, healthcare, housing, food, etc.) out of a single paycheck with far fewer zeros & commas, so very little is left to invest
  6. If you're doing a Blk 52 & using the ANG (Blk 25) boxing, I think (even though you mention you're building it gear-up to avoid the lightweight/heavyweight gear issue), you'll still need to scratch or source the bulged ML gear doors, FWIW...
  7. Kilz primer is one of the paints suggested when using the 'pour-through' method for creating/coating the interior of a seamless intake, because of the paint's ability to smooth & fill seams and other imperfections. Those same qualities would make it unlikely to be a good primer, as it would obscure much of the molded-in detail.
  8. Love the -J/DJ aggressors. Been struggling with one in 1/32 for several years; you have done an outstanding job. BZ!
  9. ~Gee, wouldn't it be awesome if SOMEBODY would have pity on us poor 1/32 guys and put out some real Good, ACCURATE decals for these? ...NOW? (...Preferably in the adversary cammo). ...Very nice build, by the way, Leverancier! Patiently waiting for my LHS to get my 'special order' shipment in so I can start mine.
  10. I built two of these OOTB many years ago- (i.e. no resin or heavy mods, but with both the fore & aft Phoenix pylons & missiles). The first was done with no nose weight, and was okay with the wings forward, but with them swept back, it was right at the 'tipping point': It would sit on the gear, but just about any movement or unweighting at the nose would cause it to rock back on the tail. The second one I built, I put a stack of weight in the forward edge of the fuselage, just behind where the radome is attached, so there was no pressure on that joint. The gear, although criticized for
  11. Yes, 4-shot/5" LAU-10 Zunis are available in resin from Dave Roof's Orion Scale Models, and are packaged in sets of 2. I've purchased 3 sets for a Vietnam-era USMC Phantom - excellent castings! Orion Zunis
  12. ...Hmmm...gas bags & 4x 'winders - sure isn't built OOB with the 'original boxing' contents alone... Looks nice, though; but I must admit I've never been particularly partial to that scheme, myself. Of course, being a SoCal kinda guy, any RegNav/Fleet jet that doesn't have a tailcode that starts with 'November' is already suspect...
  13. Chuck, I think you pretty much got the idea - as well as the knack for getting the details on the model just right! The 'big' number (starting with MB - "Martin-Baker"?) Is most likely the seat's serial number for maintenance tracking purposes, and yes, the 'expiration date' MUCH like your fire extinguisher analogy should be the date it is due for its next 'routine maintenance' - whatever that means...complete removal & tear-down of the seat; re-pack of the headbox parachute; R & R of the rockets; tighten cables & lube all pulleys, hinges, etc. Ejection Seats are a complex 'system'
  14. Talk to Brian @ FighterTown. He did the markings for the set that comes in the kit's box; I'm pretty sure he plans on doing more for the AM crowd...
  15. DutyCat, thanks for that clarification! ...At NORIS in 1995-6, I never saw any Gull Gray paint, nor any tan contact paper; but plenty of TPS colors for the exteriors and the tan for the aft workspaces. They may have still been applying contact paper over GG paint to the interior surfaces of the plexi, but I never saw evidence of that; only the tan paint being applied to the (previously) clear plexi...or, at least what I thought was clear. The plexi parts were stored on a wheeled rack/cart with a protective self-adhesive kraft paper layer to avoid scratching them prior to installation in the je
  16. ...How long has it taken to finally get an injected molded E-2? And there seem to be multiple versions in the works...Not surprised that a C-2 is at least (possibly) being considered, as it is one more piece of the USN's fleet air component. And while it may take more than just popping out a new fuselage as has already been mentioned, there are at least some common parts to reduce the initial tooling investment somewhat. And given that there have been some nice tail schemes, I think the modeling interest might just be surprising...after all, precious few people have experienced a carrier aircr
  17. The S-3 rear crew area is a light tan/buff color. When I worked at the S-3 engineering hangar at North Island in the Mid-90s, I was surprised to find that out. (Figured they'd be grey, like Reddog summised. I've gone with FS33531 (MM 1706 - "Sand") ...that's pretty close. Another thing I found interesting is that the funky, gray-looking panels over the two ESCAPAC ejection seats in the back actually start out as the same clear material as the cockpit 'glass': Once it is inserted in the fuselage, it is painted on the inside with the same interior tan color, and provided *some* very diffused nat
  18. You know, when I go buy a friggin' bar of soap at the store, I really couldn't care less what the stupid box looks like, as long as the stuff does the job. Can we all maybe focus on the PRODUCT and let the individuals marketing their wares worry about the logo, and any perceived legal issues, since I didn't see any of them ask for an opinion on it? Sheesh. If folks made unsolicited comments like this in the CRITIQUE forum about a build, they'd probably be warned & have comments removed...can we use the same level of maturity & decorum here? Send the dude a PM if you got a criticism or
  19. Netz- Good luck to your endeavor with SH Models. I'm trusting that if you're involved, there will be a fair representation of 1/32 goodies to come...
  20. You know, Chuck- you show some signs of talent, and with a little effort, you could really be a fantastic builder...You need to just slow down a little and stop slapping these big kits together; spend a little quality time with some of the details, etc. Seriously, this has been a tremendous build to watch, like a time-lapse film of a caterpillar changing into an incredibly beautiful butterfly! Well done, and well-documented to boot! Thanks for the ride...can't wait to see what's next!
  21. Michael, I have the 1/32 -J kit. I can scan & email you the instructions. Please contact me at the email address listed in my sig, below, (my PM box here is full, so don't bother with that) with your info & I'll get it to you. Also, let me know if you can do .pdf format, or want .jpegs.
  22. An FRS (like VFA-125) for strike/fighter aircraft has the mission (and, therefore, the associated syllabus) to train aviators in all aspects of their particular airframe, including how to 'fight' the aircraft - BFM 'Basic Fighter Maneuvering' or 'dog fighting'. Having various aircraft, each with unique paint schemes, helps with visual recognition/sorting for intercept, etc: e.g. "...I got the green one in the lead going between us; you take the brown trailer stacked high..." These guys will often do the basics within the squadron, and might not see a dedicated adversary bogie driver until lat
  23. Wow. Really nice work there- The jet is OUTSTANDING! However, you better get 'nature-boy' off the roof before the Air Boss catches him - working the flight deck while going shirtless went out with Fu Manchu moustaches and muttonchops during Tonkin Gulf Ops...
  24. Try searching here: Airline Hobby Found a few listing when I searched under "pokemon"; this appears to be the only item not showing "sold out": Boeing 767-300, ANA 'Pokemon 1999' BS-767-ANA Scale: 1/400 $44.00 ~All listings are airliners, not fighter or Macross or whatever that stuff is...
