  1. Thanks for the response, I did find an expert from a book talking about the wing replacement, but it faiedl to mention colors and/or which wing(s). So, would it be safe to assume, that the image I posted has the replaced wing in view (in natural metal) and the wing out of view would be original and OD/Grey? Do you know if the national insignia would have matched on the Metal wing to the rest of the plane? Thanks, Brett
  2. Hello Prop guys, I'm starting some early research into a new project I will be working on later this year. Tamyia's 1:48 P-47D bubble top using Decals from Eagle Editions #48105 and the Eduard Big Ed set. I'm getting stuck on one aspect of the paint job though. Does anyone know definitively if the wings were Natural aluminum or if they were painted OD/Grey like the rest of the airplane? I've seen builds with both, and the one image I can find of the plane isn't clear: To me this image looks like it could have natural metal wings, but it could also just be the lighting. I
  3. This looks really nice, I especially love the diorama base, it really sets the mood. Is it a single piece or did you construct it yourself? I think we need to start a separate display case just for the new P-38. 😉 Brett
  4. This is looking really nice, the wheel wells and gun bays look fantastic and very convincing. Especially with the details you added. Can’t wait to see more. Brett
  5. Curt, looks great! I can’t wait to see your p-38. Brett
  6. Hey Curt! I had the exact same problem with the wheel wells also! I got all of the wheel wells painted, and dry fit them to each other , and I remember dry fitting them to the fuselage, but it wasn’t until I was about to glue them all in that I noticed the portion of internal wall on the fuselage/booms. So, I’m glad I caught it in time, but I totally understand about the AB clean up, can be a pain. As for the oil filters scoops and the radiator scoops I did paint them before attaching. Once they are attached you can’t see much inside, which also means you can’t effectively get
  7. I particularly like the S3 Viking, but they all look great! Brett
  8. I’ve been eying this kit, I will be watching with great interest!
  9. Curt, I will certainly have to give those photography tips a try. You’re comments have been very inspirational over all so I look forward to more conversations. I’ll be working on some non-aircraft related builds next so I won’t be on ARC as much, but we can continue via email. Brett
  10. Curt, this is fantastic! I’ve never been much good with British camouflage, but to my eye you nailed it. The weathering is great and subtle and the construction seems top notch. Your photographs are even far more professional than mine, so really, I need to be following along with tour build log. I think I could learn a thing or two. Keep it up! Brett
  11. Here are the paints I used, turns out they were MIG not AK:
  12. I showed this to my daughter and she died, this is a great idea and I might have to steal this for my kids.
  13. I love inflight displays, this is fantastic and top quality on the two jets!
  14. Thanks! I tried out some new-to-me paints, AK olive drab and AK Olive drab highlights. I’m really happy with how they turned out. 10/10 would use them again.
  15. It appears you are correct, my mistake. I almost didn’t put on the radio wires for fear of the same thing. But I’m glad I did.
