After close look at the F-4B on Hyperscale I could swear this guy used a mix of aftermarket decals esp. the Furball Screamin' Demons' sheet for all VF-14 markings. 'was considering doing the same and it looks great! Anyone can comment on Monokio's decals quality?

Hello, Still looking for completing my 1977-78 CVW-8 Airwing. TomcatTweaker helped me A LOT with his Aeromaster Nimitz sheet. Thanks again btw :thumbsup:/> But I miss a Vigi (*) Trumpeter's kit decal are fine. Well not so much. AMS anyone? :whistle:/> I'd need the RVAH-6 option of the Zotz sheet only (tailcode incl.) but would consider acquiring the full sheet if anyone is willing to sell. Thanks for looking! Sylvain (*) oh and an E-2B too. But there Flevodecals may soon come to rescue :pray:/>

Thanks Dave. Indeed my box was full, did not notice that. :thumbsup:/>/> -
Hi all, I'm looking for this option only. I gave up looking for the whole SP 48-14 set. Mission: Impossible :bandhead2:/> If my memory serves me well it is the bottom part of the "B" sheet of SP 48-14. Below the Intruder options. I already have the Superscale sheet but layout and colors are not as good as with Aeromaster IMHO. If someone has already used most of the sheet and want to part with the leftovers.... Thanks for looking. Sylvain

Hi all, I’d like to model a grey-over-white USN F-4G from the ’64-’66 timeframe. I already see some of you scratching their head and ask: "what’s the point? There is no external difference at that scale from a F-4B" You see I have a deal with my wife: I’m only “allowed” to model 1 aircraft per version. I already completed a Hasegawa F-4B and I was looking for an excuse to pick-up the Academy Bravo. I guess I found a good one According to various sources only 12 F-4Bs were converted to F-4G standards (ASW-21 datalink system for automated carrier landing). VF-213 went onboard the Kitty

Hi all, I'd like to model an early Seaking in guise of HS-7 "Big Dippers"/ timeframe of 1960-1962 as part of CVSG-58 aboard USS Randolph. Did they already have the wraparound white/green checkered stripe they adorned later after re-activation as "Shamrocks"? They had it after 1966 as part of CVSG-54, 'aligned' on the paintscheme of sister helo-squadron HS-5 "Nightdippers" (pics below) ++

Hi all, I recently acquired a Matchbox SH-2F Seasprite and a Revell H-34; Bargain but both without decals. Should not be difficult to scratch but I'd need all white letters to create tailcodes, squadron- and "NAVY-" stencils, etc. Is there any generic decal sheet available for that? ++

Why Tomcats and Hornets never had Modex on wings?
victory103 replied to victory103's topic in Jet Modeling
Wow thanks Rex for this exhaustive answer! That confirms my feeling that USN is good at standardizing processes and guidelines Another trivia for you, Darren and others. Why did the habit of repeating BuNo (or at least the last 4 digits) on tails disappear shortly after Tomcats went on service for Fighters? Never seen on Hornets at all, even on prototypes... However Intruders and Hawkeyes kept on having BuNos painted.   -
Why Tomcats and Hornets never had Modex on wings?
victory103 replied to victory103's topic in Jet Modeling
Oh sorry my mistake: I meant the full modex including CVW designator. Darren was right. Early Pacific fleet Tomcats had CVW-codes on their hardwing portion separated from the modex that moved to flaps. But this disappeared by 1975(?). I've never seen any early VF-14 or VF-32 F-14As with an "AB" code on wing for example. Other trivia question is: what's the reason to have the CVW-code painted aside the modex on all pre-1975 aircrafts? This seems by no means necessary to spot or store a specific aircraft on the deck?! I guess all sailors know to which Air Wing all planes on deck belongs af -
Maybe a trivia but I guess the habit of having Modexes repeated on starboard upper wings for USN Fighters stopped with Crusaders & Phantoms (apart a couple of early Tomcats sqns like -1, -114, -142) Any idea why?
