  1. To add to the confusion, having build a couple of Italeri kits in the past and having been happy with the finesse of the cockpit and landing gear parts, would I now have to build a Hawk I would still go with the Italeri kit. I would imagine the new Airfix to be the most accurate rendition but it appears to me as being a tiny bit rougher overall compared to Italeri. That's most likely nostalgia talking, but there you have it :D Is Revell really coming out with a new tool or is it the Italeri being re-boxed again?
  2. Well done, Alex! Many, many thanks for sharing this! As far as the kit goes, I see that although the main gear legs are correctly tilted forwards, the airframe sits parallel to the ground and not 'laid back' as mostly seen: Can it be that the 'laid back' stance is connected to the amount of fuel present aboard (i.e. more fuel - aircraft with a bit of a nose high attitude; less fuel - airframe parallel to the ground)? Anyway, once again a big thank you for sharing your build! I'll have a couple kits once released :) Cheers, Niki
  3. Hi Chris, This comes a bit late and - figure! - it doesn't really answer your requests [close-ups, dimensions] :( But since I did go out on a search, even if you have by now solved the issue, here are my poor findings: - in a very early video of the Tu-144, you can see right at the beginning what looks to be a tow bar very similar looking to those used to tow MiGs. I would assume it is somewhat 'beefed up' to cope with the additional weight, but outline looks similar. - nowadays, they tow the 144 for shows with whatever is available and suitable. - finally I have a couple of shot
  4. Perfect, Alex! Thank you very much! I'll get one... a couple... a bunch (gotta do something with that Begemot sheet)! :D
  5. Jorge, No comment. Just Many, many thanks! Niki
  6. Sorry for digging this one up again, but I thought it'd be better than starting an entirely new topic for the same issue... So, here I am finally having managed to obtain the Monogram kit and already conducted a bit of research on the subject. Thanks to those who have pointed to the Fall 1984 issue of the IPMS magazine! And here is my humble request: can anybody share a scan or point towards a link showing page 6 (second page of the F-16XL article)? None of the links in this topic unfortunately do help (there's just a thumbnail left at the original Habu2 archive and the photo.me.ru link does
  7. Topic sits quite alright here And even though I'm sitting on the other side of the globe from where this subject matter stems, I'm tempted enough to watch this unfold. I got two Matchbox kits in the stash and am thinking that building one Maldivian example should allow for a second... "cooler" one :)
  8. From another on-line source I have this information regarding the "colour codes" at Modelsvit: Seeing the yellow on the Mirage box and the "exclusively for Bassin Maquette" in the ebay product description, I wonder: did the customer really ordered the entire production run (1000 pcs.)? Or will the kit be available with other outlets too? Anyway, I don't think 34,95EUR is a deal breaker for such a kit, I just have to figure out how much more on top of that would the P&P costs to my little corner of the world bring...
  9. Thanks a lot, Alex! Would it be too much to ask of you to show us a side view of the front fuselage to see if/ how the windscreen 'bites' into the fuselage (as opposed to the horizontal joining surface of all other 72nd scale kits so far...)?
  10. Here are some interesting images courtesy of a link brought up by a nice chap on Flugzeugforum.de: http://cafevn.net/loat-chien-dau-co-trieu-tien-pho-dien-hoanh-trang.html
  11. Nenad, You could get a 1/48 Hasegawa F-4E delivered to Serbia for a grand total of under 40 USD from a reliable Japanese ebay store. If that's still too steep or (like me) you dread to deal with your country's customs office (and possible associated taxes), I agree this piece of information isn't of very much help. :D

  13. Ok, Troschi, thanks! Got it! Bruce, What T is referring to is this - the clear sprue he has found in one of his boxes and which is visible in the pic from Hobbysearch... ...is for a helo with this window arrangement: Now, that's odd! The windows below the windscreen are of a different shape than those on the AS365 and they appear to be indeed correctly reproduced in the picture from Hobbysearch. However, the same picture shows the standard AS365 fuselage and all the holes carved for this clear sprue: Does that mean that Dreammodel is planning different fuselage halves with a future
  14. I got it alright, have not yet cut any plastic but I am at an advanced planning stage ^_^ Troschi, could you perhaps upload a pic of the clear sprue, please?
  15. Everyone may wish to thank Deino for fishing these out from somewhere and posting them on Flugzeugforum.de (need to be registered there in order to be able to see pics...): There are apparently other types wearing the scheme besides the Fulcrums and Fishbeds. MiG-23: Su-25:
  16. Ha! I am in for one. I'll be in touch immediately at the given e-mail address. Cheers, Niki L.E.: e-mail sent.
  17. Hi guys, I thought some of you here might be fans of the Dauphin/ Dolphin and would appreciate to find out about a new 1/72 kit. I learned about it myself a couple of days ago on the BM forums. I couldn't find any additional information on it besides what the ebay seller if offering as inbox pictures of the deal: http://www.ebay.com/itm/DREAMMODEL-DM720001-1-72-AS365N2-Z-9A-Dolphin-2-Helicopter-with-COLOR-PE-/121671801049?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_3&hash=item1c543458d9 To be honest, I did my best to resist this but finally curiosity got the better of me and I paid the 29 USD, inc
  18. Thanks, Jelle! Will keep that in mind.
  19. Mike, You made my day! Thousand thanks! I shall do a bit of research and see if I stick with US Air. Thank you for the hub information! Cheers! Niki https://www.flickr.com/photos/24426706@N06/5810703610/
  20. Thanks guys and apologies for apparently not being clear: my question was strictly related to the box art and the issue of the painting portraying an actual American city (NY, SL, I don't know!?) or not. *** About Tendair being somewhat of a Romanian airline, that's clear: YRMDK and other Mad Dogs (Medallion Air, Eagle Atlantic, etc.) belonging to the same group of people with businesses in Africa mostly, come/ came regularly for technical checks where I work. That's why I initially intended to build a model as such. But after seeing the Minicraft box art I was rather drawn towards building
  21. Hello there, dear American airline-modeling enthusiasts, Please don't laugh at this European [wannabe] modeler's question It's about this box art from Minicraft: Can you figure our if it is supposed to portray an actual American city? I am asking because I have just managed to obtain said boxing wishing to turn the plastic inside into this: https://www.flickr.com/photos/22331715@N06/11748931936/ ...but I might be tempted to go for an American livery instead. Thanks, Niki P.S.: you might have figured out that this falls under the 'Inspiring box art' category (well, at least for m
  22. Hi Daniel, That should land you with an unusual subject on your shelves! I looked around a bit but couldn't find any 'good' 3 views. Only a nice side drawing here. Perhaps searching the Internet for the Chinese name 新舟60 would bring you more pictures from different angles and maybe some profiles (unless you've already tried this )!? Please keep us posted if you go ahead with the build! I'd like to see it getting done. Cheers, Niki
