  1. Thousand thanks, Ben! You make it indeed sound/ look easy Cheers, Niki
  2. Ben, Should you be comfortable with sharing your experience on this subject, I would also be very interested (and grateful) to find out 'how to' turn a 733 into a 732. I do have at least one Airfix kit in the stash, but the DACO kit is so nicely detailed... :) Cheers, Niki
  3. Ah, come on... -_- *** Beyond what Finemolds has set out to achieve with this kit and whatever merits it will prove to have, whatever boundaries it will break and whatever shortcuts will have been taken, for the ones with a bit of systems [logic] knowledge (F-14 experience or not) the question will come up as to why the producer went to such lengths as to display all those panels & co. open but stopped short of offering the option of positionable flaps/ slats... The 'ease of construction' argument cannot really be invoked (see said open panels) - that is if one doesn't think
  4. Oh, please let us know if you'll turn out to be one of the chosen ones and that guy to whom you have just sent your money will consider you worthy of receiving something in return [for your money, that is]. I wish you the best of luck but you should have perhaps asked first about others' experience with the comrade - you might have decided against such a deal... (you see, said individual has a curious habit that he developed over the years of taking money from say... 10 people and sending decals in return to just... ahm,... 0,99 people!?).

  6. Hi, It's not up to traditional journalistic standards (you know, checking a couple [more] sources), but in what seems to be a Spanish publication there appears the phrase "...our [...] Harrier did not participate in "Deny Flight" as we asked our allies (not participating in post Kosovo operations)". But that is courtesy of google Translate and I wouldn't trust my Spanish to vouch for this. Perhaps a Spanish speaking colleague here can check? http://www.revistanaval.com/archivo-2001-2003/marotierra.htm www.revistanaval.com/archivo-2001-2003/marotierra.htm I would now also want to find proof
  7. They are all interesting schemes and since I already got one of the Tu-134 sheets, I will most likely be on the lookout for this one also
  8. Contacting the guys directly (there's a contact form on their webpage) might be worth the try to see if there is a short waiting period for the next batch to be ready or if, indeed, items are still in stock but figures are not updated
  9. Finally, there's the instruction booklet with assembly and painting instructions: That's about it! For friends of Romanian or simply Small Air Force(s) it's a nice thing to have. It can be purchased directly from the producer. There are some indications that LCAerodesign is preparing an 1/48 IAR-99 Soim for release sometime later this year. If it's anything like their IAR-81, then some of us better start saving a couple quid each month... :D Cheers, Niki Disclaimer: no, I have nothing in common with LCAerodesign except coming from the same country they do
  10. Perhaps a nice touch for some, there is a paint mask for the Romanian roundels and also for the bort numbers. Roundels seem a bit off centered but I suppose that can be tweaked by correctly positioning the center dot on the plastic (?) The resin bits are very nice, with crisp detail. Cockpit front and side panels... ...back panel, floor, front panel coaming and the additional ducting from the left side fuselage: Then there are the chaff & flare containers and the RWR bits:
  11. The envelope contains the decals sheet coming with markings for two Lancer C ADV planes, one each from the two active fighter bases of the Romanian Air Force: 71st AB at Luna, Campia Turzii and 86th AB at Borcea, Fetesti (currently flying from Mihail Kogalniceanu AB/ Intl. Airport, on the Black Sea coast while work is underway at Borcea to upgrade its infrastructure in anticipation of F-16 operations from 2016). The decals are crisply printed, in register and each item comes with its own individual carrier film. So, no need to to venture to close to the design with your scissors Also to
  12. Hi there, After their 1/48 IAR-81 and 1/32 Extra 300 kits, LCAerodesign has come up with a conversion set for the Eduard 1/48 MiG-21MF kits, that will turn the classic Fishbed into the Romanian LanceR upgrade: http://bias.aero/wp-content/gallery/airshow2011/mig-21-lancer-c_codrut-bratosin_nativ003_1.jpg The set comes in a small cardboard box: ... ... Wrapped in the tissue is a zip bag containing the resin bits of the set and then there is a printed [half size trimmed] envelope: ...

    P-3 Orion AEW

Of course, Contrails! Had forgot about them. Thanks for the heads up
  15. Great job on all! Love the paint and weathering job on the SMT and [due to... local conditions ;) ] tend to slightly favor the LanceR Cheers, Niki
  16. Yeah, but there's usually [at least] another tire/ wheel still in place on the same strut :D Thank you all for the insight!
  17. Do they actually change a tire while having a bomb hanging under the wing? Image is blurry and, anyway, I have no idea about operational and safety procedures at these levels...

    P-3 Orion AEW

Hi guys, I am reading 'Beyond The Horizon' at the moment and have begun discovering the beauty of AEW&C :) About half way down the content of the book I came across the P-3s of the Customs Service in their early livery: Now, I knew about these planes, but on this occasion I gave it a second thought about having a scale replica on the shelf. Is it indeed true that one would have to mate an Orion fuselage with a Hawkeye rotodome? Or did this latter came in a different dimensional layout for the Orion? I see the pylon(s) to be different... Also, any chance on some decals for the scheme
  22. Thanks, Scottie! That made my day! Should it happen, please let us know. Cheers, Niki
  23. If I may be so bold and repeat a request from some time ago :) http://www.fightercontrol.co.uk/forum/viewtopic.php?f=16&p=663996 @Chris Heal
  24. Apologies to anyone having seen this in the other forums, but since it is a rather 'noble' mission a buddy of mine is on, I am trying to reach out to as many of you as possible - maybe someone can help! :) So, as a starting point we have this ambulance plane: This buddy of mine (with a particular connection to the shown machine) is looking for a scale model kit of the Piper PA-42 Cheyenne. Is there any available? We have so far only managed to identify a Gremlin Models resin kit in 72nd scale which would fit the purpose nicely but which is (apparently) nowhere to be found... Any input w
  25. From the East North Central Division of the Midwestern United States (God, that's a mouthful  ) :) to Southeastern Europe in under ten days! Thank you, Jennings & Co. for the beautiful decals and their proper packing Now, let's see if I can be the first to finish the Fat Boy's carriage or at least trick one of you other guys into doing so by [falsely] threatening to have set me such a goal ;) :D Cheers! Niki
