  3. Greetings I am looking for information on those tubes (ducts) that run from behind the wing radiators on the V.S. Spitfire. They remind me of heat transfer ducts to move warm air from the back of the radiator(s) to somewhere (guns). I can't find any specifc reference to them in my library. Did they differ from Mark to Mark and what was there intended purpose? Any assistance would be appreciated. Thanks in advance; JBrown
  4. Thank you. Just the information I was looking for. Jim
  5. Good day all. This defense weapon is mentioned in the "Il-2 Stormovik in action" number 155 by Squadron/signal publications. Can anyone shed any light on this weapon and it's location in the rear fuselage as described in this publication. Thanks in advance for any information provided. I am building the AM Il-2 Type 3 at this time and have a preorder in on the new Tamiya kit. Thank you; JBrown
  6. .Thanks for the update. I missed the change I guess. JBrown
  7. This reported reissue of the Hasegawa P-38G has been listed in just about everybodies 'new items releases' for June this year. Now I can not find this kit listed anywhere-like it just dropped into the twilight zone. Does anyone have any reliable information on this release and it's release date. I have pre-ordered one from an online hobby store and now it's just disappeared. Help if you can and thank you in advance. JBrown
  8. Greetings; I am looking for the Eduard reissue of the Accurate Miniatures Yak 1b in 1/48th. I have several modern military aircraft to trade or I can purchase using USPS Money Order. No PayPal please. Thanks in advance; Jim
  9. These people found me after I posted a WTB on these forums. Thomas and Connie of LET models had my model and after a trouble-free process, now it's mine. A fair price, fair postage charge and everything honest and above-board. Jim Oldfartmodeler
  10. Greetings; Has anyone seen or built one of these 109's? I am curious about the origins of the molds and the quality of the kit. Any information appreciated. Thank you in advance; Jim
  11. Greetings; I wish to purchase the above listed kit or I can trade with someone if I have something you want or need. 99% of my stash is jet/modern and 100% 1/48th. All kits in my possession are complete and some still in cello-wrap. All are stored indoors and well protected. Purchase paid in USPO money order so please make sure you can redeem this payment method. Postage to you if trade agreed upon based on actual cost only, no handling fees or any of that stuff. Lets keep this friendly and above-board. Looking forward to hearing from someone. I live in Southern California near Los
  12. Great job. I have been following this build as I build my own. I have learned a great deal from watching your work. Thank you. Such a fantastic build deserves a finish-which I am looking forward to. Jim
  13. Great job so far. Anymore progress-really enjoying the build so far. Thanks Jim
  14. Greetings all; I am about to start the Airfix TSR-2 kit so while reading the instruction packet I have noticed something odd-at least for me. In Step 12 there is an odd looking 'bomb' that I assume represents a nuclear weapon. Bulbous body with a round nose and vestigual fins toward the rear (as I understand bomb structure). Anyway at this step of construction the builder has the option of installing this weapon or what appears to be long range ferry tanks in the weapons bay. Far enough, however when you move forward to Step 26 and 27, the above mentioned bomb/weapon thingy is illustrat
  15. Thank you everyone for the information. Will post pics when I get started and finish. Jim
  16. Thanks for the information. I'm looking at building IAF Nesher after transfer to Argentina. Probably as used in Falklands/Malvinas conflict. Jim
  17. Greetings from the old guy; I just received the newly released Italeri Mirage IIIE kit and am wondering what's available in the form of resin and p/e to upgrade this old kit. My search of the vendors available to my show very little out there except for a company called "Eagle Design". They offer several resin upgrades for various Israeli and South American versions of this kit but I have no information or experience with their product. Any help or advise appreciated very much. Thanks in advance; Old fart Jim
  18. Thank you for the tip on this resin set. I received mine yesterday from little cars. They are easy to work with with fair pricing. Thanks again Jim
  19. Greetings; ARC's July 9th edition featured a Mirage 2000 detailed with a Renaissance resin detail kit. Can anyone help me find a location or merchant to order this aftermarket set? The model was very well done and I would like to attempt a similar build. Thanks in advance for your assistance. Jim
  20. Being a resident of the Southern California area all my life here are my suggestions. Lunch/dinner- North Woods Inn in La Mirada. North on the 5 freeway to Valley View exit. You can see the restaurant from the freeway. Best food for the price and a decent bar away from the 'touristy' places around Disneyland. The prices are not fast food, but you will get all you pay for. Steaks, lobster, fish etc with the biggest baked potatoes around. The salads are great, a well stocked bar that pours a good drink and all the peanuts you can eat and you throw the shells on the floor. Fast food- In-
  21. Greetings; As mentioned in the web site "F-16.net" there were experiments with the F-16 utilizing a multi-axis thrust vectoring exhaust nozzle during the late 1990's. As preparation for a 'what if build' using the Hasegawa 1/48th F-2B kit can anyone supply details and, most importantly, pictures or a source of pictures and diagrams/plans of this project. I am particularly interested in the configuration of the actual nozzle and the surrounding fuselage contours modifications surrounding the afterburner nozzle. I could not find any such details on the F-16 web site. Thanks for looking an
  22. Good Morning; Can any readers point out a source for information on the use of the F-100 Super Sabre in the air-to-air fighter role. I have read about a NVAF MiG-17 being shot down by a F-100 early in the air war and was wondering if any information was available regarding this incident and, specifically how the pilots of the "Hun" rated the aircraft in the air-to-air role. Please feel free to comment. TIA Jim
