  1. Part 2. Testor Boyd High Gloss Black (reduced with Mr. Color Leveling Thinner) at time plus 32-hours after spraying has started to "cure". Just went into the garage and touched a non-visible surface and the tackiness has subsided. I can pass my finger tip over 4 to 5 mm of sprayed surface and it doesn't feel tacky. Finale update hopefully in another 24-hours and I won't have to strip this project.
  2. Great thread! As a 1,700 hour SH-60B driver myself, you hit all the points!
  3. Part 1. 2001. Not Model Master, but the Testor Boyd line of enamels, was still tacky after 2-years. I used the semi-gloss black to paint some panels and got so frustrated I shelved the project for 20-years. After pulling it off the shelf after 2 decades, they were finally "cured". So drying time using proprietary thinner/reducer from Testors took between 2 to 18 years 🤣. I've never had issues with MM or Testors small enamels in gloss, but this Boyds stuff. SMH. YMMV But seriously, the definition of insanity is repeating the same thing hoping for different results. Last night (and the
  4. From the "Rebuilding My Childhood Series". Out of the box 1997 reissue of the OG BSG Viper. Craft Folkart acrylic pale gray, Windsor Newton oils for weathering, and Testor's metalizer and Tamiya paints for exhaust nozzles.
  5. So very much enjoying this! Somehow I have the urge to bake a round cake now...
  6. Mungo, Murph, mrVark... Thanks for the information! At this point I'm painting it per Two Bob's call sheet. 2-years later it's still in the queue. I'm believing mrvark's post that it was a gray bird, sounds like he was THERE to know. I'm just revisiting this post because I just picked up a bottle of Mr. Color Air Superiority Blue (no. 74) yesterday since it's the first time I saw it on a the shelf. I'll save that for another F-15A. I'm not trying to beat a dead horse. I'm posting to make me smarter on F-15s by picking your brain. I comprehend your post as "...the first 21 (i think)
  7. Rich, thanks for the assist! That's exactly my question.
  8. Also watching your build closely! I have three 1/72nd (Revell and Monogram) and 3 1/144ths in the queue as well.
  9. Looking forward to the next entry! Great work.
  10. I just finished the "The Last Jedi" with the rectangular dish and was extremely impressed with it. The shape, the cockpit proportions and overall detail were incredible for 1/144 or anyscale for that fact. My only critique is that it is only accurate for the new trilogy as the sidewall panels are not accurate for the original studio 5-footer or 36-incher. Aside from that, a well engineered kit. https://scontent.flas1-2.fna.fbcdn.net/v/t1.0-9/91795692_10159849220099782_8157816231542390784_n.jpg?_nc_cat=105&_nc_sid=110474&_nc_ohc=6yARnOJsMpUAX_4iQp0&_nc_ht=scontent.flas1-2.fn
  11. Yeah and Photobucket is pretty much non-functioning nowadays so I don't know what we're supposed to do anymore.
  12. Nice update! Great to see this subject being modeled. Joe RC-135S/U/V/W Driver '00 to '03
  13. That's the way I remember doing the kit the first time in 1979. Now with the internet and a lifetime later, I'm confused as to whether it's truly FS15450/35450 or modern grays!
  14. MRvark, Been wanting to redo 73-103 since having done it as a kid in 1979. BLUF, if I used FS15450 and FS35450 "Air Superiority Blue" I understand that I'd be correct from your post? And a very interesting piece of information regarding the international orange v red. I've went back to scour the few available images, they've all got an overall Ektachrome tint to them, and hard for me to tell whether the strips are a different value or who 'nuther hue than the red in the national insignia. But I have to believe you know because you were there. Thanks, Joe
  15. Gorgeous. Exactly what I'm looking for researching my Candy Stripe Eagle build!
  16. Scooby, Years later, but just found this on a search. Did you ever sell that kit? mb1k, 737 Driver
  17. Shame no more discussion on this. I picked up the 1/32 Revell offering as a quick project, and wanted to do something different. This looks like a good candidate.
  18. Thanks for posting, I didn't know that about Cooper's background.
  19. Hey Jay... glad to see you're still here, how's the Ft. Crook IPMS guys doing these days? I think aside from Olsen's own online article, these two threads are the best resources for the Star Trek Federation finishes: http://www.hobbytalk.com/bbs1/showthread.php?t=188494 and this... http://www.hobbytalk.com/bbs1/showthread.php?t=272886 FWIW, I don't subscribe to Trekki, Trekker, etc. ...it's all ghey. I'm a Star Trek Fan and I've kissed more than my fair share of girls, never lived in my parents basement, and (you can verify with Jay) have been both a Naval Aviator and USAF Command Pilot
  20. SH-60Bs have a castering tailwheel, unlocks from the right seat's parking brake handle. Tailrotor provides directional control on the deck assisted by differential braking. Muff 1,600 hours SH-60B
