  1. In the AMK Time Continuum "couple of months" equals five human years. This gives ICM a shot at jumping into the Tomcat pool.😂
  2. You're rude and dismissive. Now I wonder, as a customer, whose kits should I buy? The company that has a sense of history about the hobby and is respectful or . . . AeroMaster had a long history that contributed to the 1/48 scale aircraft decal market. Many of their old sheets that are rare and desirable sell for more than an AMK F-14D. I should know, since I have sold AeroMaster decal sheets on eBay and earned over $100 on a few. Now I'm done with you.
  3. Hasegawa November 1995. Hasegawa has numerous production kits that included AeroMaster Decals or decals printed and designed by Cartograph. They also teamed up with resin aftermarket companies too. AMK may be the first to only include aftermarket decals from day one release. But the idea of adding premium details and or decals is not new. Most modelers welcome aftermarket decals inside the box, since it saves money in the long run.
  4. Just be careful about when you mindlock someone! and now this thread is Mindlocked!
  5. In the 21st Century we shouldn't have to apply putty and overcome ill fitting parts, unless it's a crude limited run kit, or a very expensive resin kit of a subject no one will mold. (Sorry i'm spoiled since I've been building Tamiya's P-38. The fit is fantastic! Not one microgram of putty applied.) As for F-14s? You want close to perfect? Look to the land of the Rising Sun. Yes, I purchased the AMK F-14D. Kit buyers can now make an informed choice if they read honest reviews. All the issues with the kit can be seen with the naked eye. (Take a look in the ni
  6. Is this Sparta!!!!!! Are we there yet?
  7. Many moons later . . . too many pies on the table I guess.
  8. Measuring the AMK F-14D and then showing how those measurements stack up against the dimensional shapes of a real F-14D is not a personal attack upon AMK as a company. No one is punching Baby Yoda in the face. AMK is free to make more kits and sell them. You can now make a very informed decision if the AMK, Tamiya, Academy, Hobby Boss, Monogram or soon to be Great Wall Hobby F-14 is for you. Does Frog make an F-14? yummy!
  9. ZM isn't fixing the issue with the fuselage. The crease where the spine meets the main fuselage should end near the flap hinge line. but here's the F-4E "test shot". Overall the ZM F-4 is an outstanding kit let down by this one correctable flaw. Is there a ZM Phantom thread? Best to further discuss there. The AMK F-14 issues however are legion; not singular.
  10. The kit is still available and in stock at Sprue Brothers and also Kit Linx. They haven't sold out. There's a number of eBay sellers offering the kit as well at about $85 including shipping. Best price on the kit including shipping is Sprue at $78. It's about the same price as other manufacturers F-14Ds if you shop around.
  11. The kit is selling well but how many will get built because of fit issues? So yes, the kit is popular. People buy Justin Bieber and Adele albums. They both sell out huge stadiums. Everyone has different tastes. Now I'd buy a ticket to see Adele, if she performed in Adelaide Australia with Adélie penguins, and a pack of howling dogs as her backup vocalists.
  12. The free ordinance sets were given out to those who pre-orderd the kit almost three years ago. They are very nice and you'll have a box full of extras for other kits. Also the AMK F-14D comes with a lot of weapons and pods included.
  13. AMK didn't plan on making a "looks like a Tomcat to me" 1/48 F-14D. "Looks like a ______ (fill in blank)" suggest a failure, a falling short, an endeavor that almost reached it's goal. You have to make a compromise and accept something that's almost what you want. AMK set out to make the most accurate, the best and most detailed F-14D ever seen in plastic. They didn't do that. They fell short of their stated goal. I hope they figure out what worked and didn't work out for them. Yes they are selling kits. Monogram still sells their ancient 1/48 P-51D. We know
  14. It really is a big impressive box that's stuffed with plastic. Overall the shape is close to being a Tomcat and there are some very nice builds of this kit with wonderful paint jobs. The option they have for dirty wings is fantastic. Tamiya avoided a lot of extra detailing with their kit in order to keep costs down. For a little over $70 from Spruebrothers (including shipping) you'll get a kit that you'll have a good time building. However there is a lot of competition in the F-14D market place here in the U.S. Spend big on a Tamiya and you'll get a very accurate F-14D, buy the Hob
