  1. Well you can't go wrong with the third one on this sheet then. F-4E-35-MC Phantom II, Sn. 67-339, "Fighting Irish", Capt. Don Irish (Pilot), Doug Best (WSO), 34th TFS, 388th TFW, Korat AB Thailand, October 1969. It had a big green shamrock outlined in white on the left intake and Snoopy riding a bomb on the left side.
  2. According to his web site, John doesn't do individual sales, just retail to distributors. He is in the process of shipping the sets to Federation Models and Starship Modeler. Federation Models lists the Landing Gear set at $45.00 US and the cockpit set at $25.00 U.S. Starship Modeler does not have any listings posted yet. Links to the websites: Millennia Models International http://www.coldnorth.com/millennia_models/index.html Federation Models http://www.federationmodels.com Starship Modeler http://www.starshipmodeler.com/ Edited to fix MMI URL: Link works now.
  3. Ian, Check out Gunpowder's current Tamiya F-4J VF-151 Vigilanties build over on the In Progress boards. He has better photos and you will see that since you are using the kit parts you can install the intakes as per the instructions state. The fit is much better than either of the resin replacement sets. HTH
  4. Hey guys, I just got a reply from John Fleming at MMI to my inquiry as to when or if MMI is going to be re-releasing their landing gear and cockpit updates now the Revell has redone the Viper. To my delight not only was the answer yes, but to quote form the email: I hope to have cockpits ready to ship this weekend, and landing gear by the end of next week (Feb 29). Not sure about the 2 place pit, but that may be in the offing also.
  5. Hi Ian, This is how I solved my dilemma with the Tamiya intakes Worked pretty good too. HTH and good luck, BTW like the 106 in your signature.
  6. Fiddler, Not sure which panel line to use but, I measured the intake trunking on my 1/32 Tamiya F-4D in the stash and I found that if you measure from the center of the intake on the line that separates the splitter plate from the moving part of the intake ramp to the rear of the intake trunking it is 4.5 inches or 114 mm. If you convert this from 1/32 to 1/72 that gives a length of 2.0 inches or 50.6 mm. HTH
  7. Yep the BB ones are the only USN types. They are no longer sold as separate items though. But you got to be careful though if you are doing an F-4B. The early F-4Bs used the MB Mk H5 seat and the only ones of that type I know of are made be CE, but I'm not sure it the H5 came in two different flavors, one for the USAF and on for the USN, or not.
  8. Harold, Sorry about not clarifying the scale: 1/32. Sometimes I forget there are other scales. I need one for a French bird. If you got one that would be terrific. Is it listed on your site? Brocky
  9. Hi Dave, Yeah there's those and couple more, but I did say "the major difference that would show up in a 1/32 scale model." Harold, I got those and many more pictures of all kinds of ejection seats from this great site The Ejection Site. URL --> www.ejectionsite.com Here are direct links to the MB-Mk 7 pictures: USAF --> http://www.ejectionsite.com/f4seat.htm USN --> http://www.ejectionsite.com/usnh7.htm And oh BTW while you're there go to this link MB Mk IV Hint hint. I have a several Mirage's that are in need of your talents. Brocky
  10. Simon, The major differance between USN and USAF MB Mk-7s that would show up in 1/32 scale is shown below. USN on left, USAF on right. HTH
  11. Hi Brad. In the rear under fuselage AIM-7 Sparrow wells.
  12. Harold, You have bee doing great work. If you used Revel's F-4E MiG Killer kit from c 1990 then that is the "new" kit. The old kit is the one from 1968.
  13. Naw that was Iron Eagle. In Iron Eagle II the Russian "Allies" flew the MiG-29 Phantom.
  14. Greg, Here are couple of shots of the hoses in the cockpits that Paul Stoner sent me. HTH
  15. Gunny, If you are in a rush you could bash up a good B/N cockpit from the Black Box F-4J set. The major differences will be You would have to use the kit's F-4C/D type radarscope and control panel from the front IP part number F-26. You would also have to use the kits F-4C gun sight and upper instrument panel combing, parts F-31 and F-20. The NFO's radar antenna control handle is not under the radarscope on the center console but is up under the upper instrument panel on the right side of the cockpit. The F-4B would use a Mk H-5 Ejection seat (available from CE). That's about all yo
  16. Great work, nay, excellent work on the cockpit Miro! Hey what did you use for the info/warning placards? Oh and thanks for the mini review on the CE intakes. I have been curious as to how they fit.
  17. Yes the IP is multi functional isn't it? I played around with one of the photos form the article last night (the last one shows the IP) and it looks like the IP from the Kfir set. I'm not up my Mirage speak, but I wonder if Brazil has put their Mirages through a SLEP or upgrade program?
  18. I know of two sets for the Revell Mirage IIIE. The first >> click here << is from Plane Bits out of Melbourne Australia. This may be the one you are thinking of Jarrod, but since it comes with a Martin Baker MB-6 seat which looks like an F-4 Phantom seat I think Mr. Viera used the old TAC Scale Dynamics/CAM Kifr C-7 set. The seat in Mr. Vieira’s Mirage looks just like the one in my Kfir conversion set. I think it's an MB Mk 10. This would also account for Jarrod’s F-18 observation.
  19. Hi Starfreak, It took me a while to remember where I had seen a review of the Hasegawa 1/72 F-4J. Although it is a J, your C kit will look a lot like and the trouble points, basically the fiddly fuselage will be the same. Hasegawa engineered the fuselages this way so they could do all of the F-4 versions minimizing the version specific parts while maximizing the common parts. This first link will show you the parts break down. Parts Break Down This link will give you comments on its construction. Construction Review. The big suggestion I would give is to forgo the Hasegawa instruc
  20. Marco, Since the F-4K/M use the same wheels as the F-4J, you can use any wheel set for the F-4J. Off the top of my head I know True Details and Cutting Edge each make a set in 1/48 but since this is not my scale I don't know which is better. I do know that CE's 1/32 scale set is very good. HTH
  21. Hey Bob, Don't know if this is what you meant by "gorgeous" but they are listed as USN pilots. :)
  22. Will, Go to uscockpits.com > click here < and look up the F-4 cockpits under the Jet Fighters tab. There are two good pictures of the front and rear instrument panels from an F-4B. The major differences between the F-4B and the F-4J in the front cockpit are 1. the radar scope/control panel 2. the weapons control selection panel on the lower left corner of the instrument panel 3. the gun sight. The big thing in the rear cockpit was the location of the radar control handle and its control pad. Before 1969 or so the handle and panel were mounted to the right of the radarscope
  23. Gene, There was no problem, just an attempt at humor. I was reminiscing about my experience with CE’s F-4E set for the Tamiya F-4C/D. I waited and waited for Tamiya to come out with an F-4E and gave up and bought the conversion sets for the F-4C/D kit from CE. The day after and I do mean the day after I botched up my fuselage and had to reorder one form Tamiya USA here comes Tamiya announcing their F-4E “early versionâ€. But now that you got me going, I think Tamiya will release an F-4B/N sometime. The problem is that a B/N variant as well as the Wild Weasel G and Tomb variants wo
  24. Sure. Right after I order my second set of J wings from Tamiya after messing up the first ones trying to modify them.
  25. The cockpit won't be too much of a problem if you start with the Tamiya J kit. As a matter of fact the front instrument panel in the Tamiya J kits is a hybrid of the B and J cockpits. It has the J type radarscope at the top center part of the panel, but the B/N weapons control/selection station in the lower left corner. As for the rear cockpit the major difference in the B cockpit from the J/N/S is the location of the radar azimuth/slew control stick and its associated control pad. This was located to the right of the radarscope under the instrument panel on the cockpit wall in the F-4B
