  1. I always try to stay away from Solvaset unless I absolutely have to...like if Mocro-Sol did not get the job done the first time. You can use the usual pin-pricking of the bumps and flowing some Future or Micro-Sol under the bumps. It sounds like it may be a bit late for that. I have had good luck removing decals with fairly strong tape. Burnish it down good and give it a swift yank. This may take several attempts. If this does not work try EZLO. It will dissolve the decal almost instantly but work fast or you could damage the finish below. Aaron
  2. My e-mail is doghikers@yahoo.com. Could you contact me? Thanks Aaron
  3. Curt Does the Mig-19 kit have Cuban markings? If so would you be willing to sell one??
  4. Does anyone have the instruction booklet for the F-18 1/32 Academy kit they would be willing to sell?
  5. Whoops on the typo! Thanks for the feedback. Finn, that was a great article. Whatever I come up with I'll try to post some pics. Peace
  6. Hello all. I'm competing in a regional IPMS contest in June and one of the special categories is "Cuba Under Castro" because of the anniversary of Castro taking over in '69. Anyone have any suggestions as to what aircraft would be a good build for this? The rules state that it can be any aircraft from 1959-2009. So if any of you have ideas of good subjects or kits please let me know. Thanks Sebastian
  7. Hello all. I'm about to begin work on the Tamiya 1/48 Mosquito. I am using the Verlinded conversion set to covert the aircraft into a Sea Mosquito and I have a few questions maybe you can help with: Will any of the 1/48 Tamiya Mosquito kits suffuce as a basis for this conversion? What, if any, color differences would there be as far a camo scheme and wheel wells as a sea version? I assume a Sea Mosquito would still be the RAF dark green/earth even as a sea version, but I'm not sure. Any help is much appreciated! Thanks in advance Aarom
  8. So, I guess I'd be safe with RLM 65 for interior cockpit and underside blue for gear legs etc. ? @! the lack of color photography in WW2! Thanks for the help. Aaron
  9. Hello all. I'm building the Accurate Miniatures IL2-M3 Stormovik and the instructions call for the interior, gear legs and etc. to be interior grey green. I use MM enamels and this color would be RLM 02 according to the AM reference chart. Is this right? Thanks Aaron
  10. There is a detail set for the props and guns from a company called Quick Boost available from Hannant's. They also have an engine detail set listed for future release. These are the only ones that I know of. I'm in progress with that kit right now too. I wish there were more aftermarket for this great kit. Aaron
  11. Thanks for the info. Very helpful. Aaron
  12. Hello all. Would a parked P-51A likely have dropped flaps and elevators? Thanks Aaron
  13. Hey. If the kit is complete how about $40.00? Thanks Aaron My e-mail is :doghikers@netzero.com
  14. Hello all. Anyone know what differences there are between the Pro Modeler Bf-110 G-4 kit and the Revell Germany G-2 kit besides the Fug antenna? I have the G-2 kit and was wondering if it would be accurate to add Fug to the model since it seems impossible to come by the Pro Modeler G-4 kit. Anyone know where to find this kit? Thanks
  15. Greetings all. Any of you know of anywhere to get the Airwaves Wingfolds set for the Monogram F9F? I've tried all the internet places that I know of with no luck. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks Aaron
  16. I've only worked with a few vac formed canopies and never had much success. The most success I've had so far is by just cutting the film around the canopy of with scissors and then sanding down the edges, but it's always scary sanding that close to the clear parts when you can't repair it with some Micro Mesh and a little Future like on standard injection canopies. Also I want to display the model with an open canopy to further complicate matters. I'm trying to complete my Czech Model Me 309 and I really don't want to mess this one up. The kit does include two canopies so there is some fudge
  17. Thanks for your help guys. Those were some very helpful pics. That makes sense about the He 162 having wooden wings and nose cone. That would explain the aluminum fuselage!
  18. Okay, so I know that this is the prop forum and my question is about Me 262/He 162..not technicaly the correct forum, but I figure the jet forum are guys mostly modern jet modelers. Anyway, I'm underway with the Dragon He 162 Mistel kit and want to do the unfinished paint scheme for both of the aircraft. The kit instructions indicate that this is IJN Gray overall with a 50/50 Gunze mix for the puttied seams. I just wonder if this is correct. Is the IJN Gray maybe a primer? If so would it not have been primed in 02? I have found very few pictures on the internet of unfinished Luftwaffe and the
  19. Hello all. I'm about halfway through with the CA Ro. 37 kit and approaching the painting phase. The box art is pretty good but does anyone know of good walkaround photos of this bird? Any suggestions on rigging? I do mostly WW2 and modern with not much rigging experience but I think I'm getting into this WW1 stuff. Thanks Aaron
  20. Hello all. I just purchased a 1/48 Tamiya MIG 15 kit and the finish is "plated" in a chrome finish. I'm sure some of you have had experience with this kit. Can any of you advise the best approach to painting this? I was planning to use Alclad Polished aluminum with the standard gloss black primer but I don't know if it will stick to this surface like it would an ordinary plastic finish. Thanks. Aaron Bennett
  21. Oh man that would be great. How could we work that out? Thank you. Aaron
  22. Okay, heres the situation. I want to build the Tamiya Fw 190A-3 or F-8 kit and add a resin engine. All the pictures I've seen of models built like this show the hood over the MG 131's open with really good detail on the underside of the hood. I have the Tamiya F-8 and A-3 kit and the CMK A-3 engine set but none have that detailed hood. The other doors are there and look great. Does anyone know where that hood in all the pictures on Hyperscale and ARC is coming from? It's even on the box photo for the CMK kit. I know it would be pretty easy to scratchbuild that detail but at this point I
  23. Thanks for the good info guys.
  24. Can someone tell me the differences between the Tamiya A-3 and F-8 kits, if any? I have the CMK engine set for conversion to A-8 and I'm not sure as to which would be better to use. I have the A-3 kit already but the underside of the MG 131 hood lacks any detail. Is this different in the 8? Many thanks Aaron
